Cottage By The Sea - 1900's beach cottage 100 ft from beach

Enjoy amazing views of the beach, white water, and pier from this darling early 1900's cottage. Newly renovated with great attention to detail, you will love relaxing in our home away from home. Every inch of the cottage was remodeled with state of the art appliances, views from the entire main living area & kitchen, and a large bathroom with pedestal sink & a charming claw foot tub/shower combo. Plenty of off street parking, a large deck on which you may take in the views and a patio with fire pit allow you to live comfortably inside and out. With the beach only a half block away, it's literally your backyard! The house is 100 ft from the beach!

Monthly rentals available: October, November, January-May. Rental period begins on 1st of month. Hold over days are nightly seasonal rate.

Suitability: Monthly Renters Welcome, children welcome, non smoking only, pets not allowed, wheelchair inaccessible, ocean views, charming cottage, downtown

*The Avila Beach area is undergoing several construction projects, including the construction of a new home at a neighboring lot. Even though Slo County noise ordinance is enforced, from time to time guest may experience construction noise.

A little heaven on Earth

Loved this little bungalow. It was perfect for our small family get-together. It was across the street from my favorite coffee shop (Kraken) and the view of the ocean was incredible. We will definitely be back!

All of us had the best sleep on these great beds. We did not get around to relaxing by the fire pit because it got foggy in the evening, next time😊

Beautiful Beachfront Home

Best vacation I've been on in a long time. Watched humpback whales breech from the porch, spent lazy days at the beach, and cozy nights by the fire. Perfect trip, the home was adorable and well-equipped. Thanks for everything, we hope to be back!

Truly a home away from home!

From the moment we saw this amazing little beach house, we were in love. While thoughtfully preserving the charm of this vintage cottage, the owners have created an exceptionally comfortable, tasteful and functional home with all the bells and whistles of modern living....we loved the gourmet kitchen, outstanding ocean views, deck with gas fireplace and patio heater, comfortable beds, roomy bathroom with claw foot soaker tub...to name a few!

PERFECTION! PERFECTION!! PERFECTION!!!

Life doesn't get any better than this! This completely renovated charming beach house is a real find. Every amenity is top of the line, and the location is as good as it gets. This gem of a home is completely stocked with all the necessities a traveler needs and wants; so impressive! Everything about this property is outstanding! Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is in a great location on Avila Beach - as advertised, very close to the beach and the cute downtown Avila shops and restaurants. Our family of 4 found the house to be on the smaller side ( 2 adults and 2 -12 year olds). We felt this most when it came time for showers - one shower is tough to share across 4 people. It was nice that the property provided beach chairs and toys in a wagon. Wish they had provided beach towels as well - just one less thing to have to pack! The outdoor area was the real selling point for us on choosing this property - the fire pit and lots of comfy chairs! The only downside was the bees - we tried to have breakfast on the outdoor dining table and had lots of wasps that were on the aggressive side. Given the per night price of nearly $500, we expected a bit more of luxurious supplies in the house - cheap toilet paper, no toilet paper holder. On the flip side, the beds were comfortable and the sheets were the best! I had to call to get our deposit back after nearly a week had passed since we checked out. Overall, we think the cottage is a cute home in Avila, but not the right place for our family of 4 given the 2 bedrooms, 1 shower situation.

I should mention that we have done this SEVERAL times, which speaks to our overall level of comfort and enjoyment. The location can’t be beat and Seven Sisters is easy to deal with.As always, the property was in great shape. This time we had a few special requests to make regarding our stay. Management was very supportive and helpful in every way. They responded quickly, pleasantly and thoroughly.We fully intend to continue renting this property.

One block from the Avila (strip) and beach, morning view of the ocean and every amenity you need to feel at home. We purchased fresh fish from Merseas 2 of the 4 nights and cooked. The kitchen is perfect and the view of the sunset deserves homecooked dinners with wine. No reason to go out. This little cottage has all of the offerings you need. If it's available for our next trip in, it will be booked.

The toilet was making an odd sound & they sent someone over straight away to take a look at it. They also sent someone to take the trash cans in/out for us - the owner’s rule book requires their guests to do that chore. The new “Owner’s Parking” spot in the driveway (making guests tandem park) is obnoxious & entitled. If the owner’s show up unannounced & park, they are all the way into the property which feels invasive & can easily see guests walking through to the laundry/bathroom, in parts of the outdoor space & inside the house bedrooms & showering when the windows are open. Doesn’t feel safe knowing unidentified people can show up anytime & be in your space. The house is darling & nicely equipped, with the exception of the sofa. It is oddly noisy when you sit or move around on it & doubly so when opened up for a bed.

Great views, well stocked with beach supplies and easy parking. The location is key and you are a short walk to the beach and all the shops. As of this review they have just broken ground on construction directly across the street. While we were there there wasn't a lot of activity but there was some early morning equipment moving around. Just something to consider. We will definitely be back here in the future.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My husband and son and I had a wonderful stay at the Cottage By The Sea. The house was cozy, comfortable, bright, and so well equipped with everything from kitchen to beach supplies. The proximity to the beach and restaurants/shops of Avila Beach was so convenient, but we loved the view of the ocean from the house and the fun fireplace deck seating so much that we often just stayed home. Exactly as in pictures, but the authentic, home-like feel in person was beyond expectations. Sparkling clean with excellent amenities - great use of small space with large kitchen, large bathroom, great indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, and state of the art laundry.
