A relaxing rural retreat in the heart of the Dordogne's Périgord Natural Park, with a lakeside setting and close to family activities, amenities, tourist attractions and towns.
Our 3-bedroom stone house was built in the 1800's. With exposed oak beams, it provides a quiet and calming environment with ample space for our guests, as well as outside areas to roam and relax... and maybe to fish or swim!
The city of Limoges, with its airport and various travel links, is only a 45 minute drive away.
The lake can be used for daytime fishing or swimming but, for safety reasons, those activities must not take place at the same time or at night-time.
More information regarding the do's and don'ts for these activities are in our 'Policies & Rules' section.

Rules - Lake:
The following rules (below) are, without apologies, very thorough and extremely important; as well as being part of the property, the lake is also part of the local ecosystem and is a clean and safe home for all types of living creatures. The rules are primarily concerned with ensuring our guests have a safe and enjoyable stay and that any wildlife is respected and looked after.
Please note:
1) Guests explore, use and visit the lake and the surrounding land at their own risk.
2) Swimming and fishing must not take place at the same time or at night-time.
3) Beyond what is required by us, as hosts, we do not take any responsibility for any personal injury caused while at the property, nor shall we be liable for any injury or fatality to persons wheresoever or howsoever caused, or for loss or damage to their property.
Rules - Swimming (guests must read below only if intending to swim):
1) NO diving or jumping in to any part of the lake - at its deepest it is 6 feet but much shallower at its perimeter.
2) Guests are able to swim in the lake all year around, but must be aware of the danger of varying water temperature and the effects on the body. Lower water temperatures can rob the body of energy.
3) If you are heated by the sun, have a short rest before going into the lake water. When possible, take a shower before swimming. Enter the water slowly to help your body to acclimatise to colder water temperature.
4) Guests must be aware of and navigate the various sloping banks and the pathway carefully on entering and exiting the lake water.
5) Do not access the lake water via the bank of the dam - as well as being the steepest bank, it is lined with small to medium rocks that protect its structure and integrity from the pressure and weight of the water.
6) Evaluate your own performance critically and know your limits. Parents, please monitor and supervise your child / children carefully (and at all times) if you allow them to paddle and / or swim. It is parents / guardians responsibility to assess the situation and potential risks for their child / children.
7) Do not enter the water directly after eating and try not to ingest water whilst swimming. Also, do not drink alcohol if you wish to go swimming.
8) Cover all cuts and abrasions, however minor, with sticking plasters. Do not swim if you have deep cuts.
9) Leave the water and the area of the lake immediately during a thunderstorm and seek safe shelter in the house.
Rules - Fishing (guests must read below only if intending to fish):
1) All anglers must be physically capable of landing, unhooking, handling and returning fish safely to the water, or have a companion with them at all times that can.
2) No landing nets, keep nets, weigh slings, unhooking mats / cradles or sacks to be brought to the property - a landing net and unhooking mat will be provided by us. The landing net must be dipped before fishing. Larger fish (generally carp) must be removed from the water with the landing net and placed on the unhooking mat.
3) Guests must not leave their rods by or in the water unattended, i.e. no more than 5 meters away at all times when fishing.
4) Fishing tackle used needs to be fit for purpose: modern rods (minimum 9 feet in length and 3lb test curve for carp fishing), poles, reels, good safe set-ups / rigs and reliable line (12lb+ for carp fishing) or elastic. No hand lines and no fly fishing.
5) Maximum of 1 rod / pole per guest and no more than 2 guests fishing the lake at any one time.
6) Barbless hooks must be used at all times - no exceptions.
7) Bait choice is critical to the long-term health of the lake, the fish and other wildlife. The following bait rules apply at all times:
- Baits allowed: biscuit, bread, luncheon meat, maggots and sweetcorn.
- Baits not allowed: boilies, hemp, nuts, particles, pellets and plastic (or artificial) baits.
- Groundbait is not allowed.
- Do not dispose of unwanted bait in the water (see rule 11 below).
8) Whilst fishing, no swimming or wading in the lake.
9) ALL fish must be promptly and safely returned to the lake - they must not be killed and consumed - and no new species are to be introduced to the lake.
10) During spawning periods guests must comply with any request to stop fishing.
11) All litter, used fishing tackle and unused bait must be removed and disposed of appropriately.
CARP FISHING - FURTHER RULES WILL BE SHARED WITH GUESTS AFTER BOOKING CONFIRMATION (I.E. RIG SET-UPS ALLOWED / NOT ALLOWED, WEIGHING FISH, ETC.
