ABOUT THE WEE HOUSE
The Wee House has all the modern facilities you would expect.
A cosy lounge with a good WiFi connection, Firestick and freeview box. It has a well equipped kitchen
and a decent sized wetroom.
It has 2 good sized bedrooms, One with a double bed on the ground floor with a built in wardrobe and
one twin room (with extra long beds) upstairs along with a toddler bed just incase you were unable to get
granny or grampa to babysit this time.
The house has a stair gate and a kitchen barrier with a gate, as well as a lockable gate outside, so pretty
safe for toddlers.
You will also have parking in your own space outside the WEE HOUSE. (More than one space if
needed), just request at time of booking and I’ll make sure it's available to you.
The Wee House has no steps into property, a low threshold at entrance and extra wide doors to bedroom
and wetroom.
It is however my intention over the winter to make the wetroom even more functionable and practical to
our guests who maybe need a little assistance or guests using a wheelchair.
Please message me with any queries or tips you may have for me in this regard.
It is my intention to make The Wee House accessible to EVERYONE to enjoy this wonderful Island of
Seil.
AROUND THE ISLAND
The Wee House Balvicar is at the centre of the Island of Seil which is a very peaceful, idyllic, relaxing
place to forget everything and get away from it all.
We have wonderful dark skies (no street lighting) and is the perfect island home with modern facilities.
We have a very picturesque also 9 hole Golf course within a few hundred yards of the Wee House.
We are connected by Clachan bridge to the mainland at the other end of the island (2 miles) where you
will also find the Tigh an Truish Hotel and Restaurant now boasting AA rosettes.
At the other end of the Island you will find the Oyster Bar and Restaurant at Ellenabeitch catering to
visitors and locals alike, where you can also find a museum. It is from Ellenabeitch pier you can catch the
small passenger ferry to Easdale Island where yet another eaterie The Puffer Bar and Restaurant awaits.
Easdale island also has a museum. Check timetable. One of the latest businesses on Easdale Island is a
small soap maker run by Bethan Smith and called Siabann Eisdeal (Easdale soap).
One more place to visit and only 10 minutes drive from The Wee House is Cuan ferry where you can
take yourself, your car or bike on the car/ passenger ferry to the Island of Luing.
The Atlantic centre on Luing is worth a visit, where home baking is just delightful. Oh and not forgetting
another amazing museum.
Seakayakscotland.com is owned and operated by Ken Lacey who holds the top BCU/SCA Level 5 sea
kayak coach award. Ken is a super guide. When I went out with him a few years ago (as a novice) he
really did put me at ease and made the whole Kayak experience a memorable one.
Boat trips by Seafari (fast boats) and Sealife adventures for a slower pace both within 10 minutes drive
of the Wee House and not forgetting our local Balvicar shop which is only 200 yards away for all your
grocery and post office needs.
Booking is always advisable for all restaurants.
Walking and bikes. There are many opportunities throughout Seil, Easdale and Luing for walking and
cycling.
So as you see on our wonderful Island of Seil and neighbouring islands there is more than enough to fill
your days.
