Informações sobre o alojamento

Traditional Corfu House, 50m to village square

The property is a detached, self-contained house in the centre of Liapades village with gorgeous mountain views. It is fully mosquito-netted and air-conditioned throughout with real wooden shutters. The 300year old building, fully renovated in 2020 is clean, comfortable, light and airy with three bedrooms (2 doubles and 1 single) and 2 WCs/shower rooms. The house has a newly-installed very well equipped kitchen with Bosch appliances(fridge/freezer,oven/hob),new dishwasher and washing machine. The house is approached via a narrow street from the main village square. A free parking area is available adjacent to the house (please see photo). From the street the front door leads into a covered courtyard ahead with seating sofa area, to the left is a flight of steps leading to a small patio with a table and chairs and the main door to the living area. (To the right of the patio area is a steep flight of stairs leading to the roof, which is not accessible to guests). Through the main door is the large, open-plan the kitchen/dining area and sitting room with four windows, all with traditional wooden shutters. On the left is the kitchen area with full cooking facilities including appliances (Bosch oven/hob, integrated dishwasher, Tassimo-Bosch coffee machine, toaster, smoothie-maker), very well-equipped with quality pots & pans and kitchen utensils. To the right of the door is a Bosch family-size fridge-freezer. On the right is the dining area with a table and six chairs. At the far end beyond the kitchen is a sofa, bookshelf and two windows looking out to the mountains in the distance. As well as in the main room, all of the bedrooms have their own remote controlled air-conditioning units and mosquito-netted windows. The two double bedrooms lead off at either end from the main room, all windows in both rooms with traditional wooden shutters. Bedroom one has a double bed comprised of two singles that are pushed together. If required, these can be separated and used as two singles. There is a chest of draws, plus hanging space for clothes and a chair, two bedside tables with bedside lighting. Two windows, both with wooden shutters, one of which looks out over the village and part of the square and rooftops to the mountains beyond. In the second bedroom there are also two singles joined as a double bed, a chest of draws, hanging space, a chair and shelving. The window in this bedroom also with wooden shutters, has a view of a garden with a lemon tree and village rooftops. Off the main sitting room a short corridor leads to a shower room with wc, sink and douche. There is a second loo/shower room downstairs on the ground floor. At the end of the short corridor is a third bedroom, which contains a sofa-bed (ideal as a single bed) plus a large feature fireplace, chest of draws, a hanging space and a toy/game box. The window looks out onto the small patio and interior courtyard of the property. Each bedroom has Egyptian cotton sheets and cotton bed covers, plus duvets for winter months. Other things to note: Liapades is a very friendly village with many quaint and characterful old houses hanging vines, oleander and bougainvillea. The village is lovely for strolling around on foot and some of the narrow roads higher up are restricted to walking or bikes only. Some board games and books, toys and art materials for kids are available for guests to use during their stay. Guests have access to the entire upper floor of the property including a small terrace, plus the lower-floor courtyard and lower-floor bathroom and utilities. The property is accessed from the cobbled road via a large main front door on the ground floor that leads into the courtyard. I can be contacted and will respond quickly if there are any issues at all. Local cleaner and handyman are on hand to help with check-in/check-out and any queries and to help with all your needs, including boat hire and taxi boat information. Cleaning during your stay can be arranged at an additional cost. The local village of Liapades and village history There is a main church in the centre of the village square and other churches elsewhere in the village. Liapades is famous for some of the best wine made on Corfu. There is a very large selection of fantastic local restaurants, on the main road down towards the beach, serving both traditional local food and other mediterranean foods. Superb pizza, and other great dishes with large portions at The Village Diner. There are a few wonderful bars in the old village square, also a traditional taverna with reasonable prices and the best gyros I've tasted in Greece. A villa nearby, above the stunning and renowned Rovinia beach, was built and owned by the Tennant family and features in Emma Tennant's book 'A House in Corfu' - (here is an extract from the book's synopsis): 'A House in Corfu is the story of one of the most beautiful places on earth, still astonishingly unspoilt, on the west coast of Corfu. In the early 1960s, Emma Tennant's parents, on a cruise, spotted a magical bay and decided to build a house there. This book is the story of that house, Rovinia, set in 42 hectares of land above the bay where legend has it Ulysses was shipwrecked. A House in Corfu ... celebrates... the joy of belonging to a timeless world; the world of vine, olive and sea.' Boat trips/hire with a captain is available from Vasilis, please ask for details. Liapades is a picturesque and traditional Corfu village situated on a hill, with its own shops, bars, restaurants and amenities and with amazing access to several beautiful and secluded beaches. The house is situated less than one minute walk to the main old village square where there is a small supermarket, a church, a cafe, two bars and a taverna. Just below the village square there is a bus stop with buses connecting to Paleokastritsa and other stops on the way to Corfu Town. Within a decent walk of Liapades village there are various secluded beaches and coves for sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling in the glorious clear blue Ionian sea. A few minutes further down the hill on the way to the main beach, there are many more restaurants with pools, larger supermarkets, hotels and a couple of bars with low-key nightlife. As a customer, (ie. if you pay to eat and drink), it's possible to swim all day in the pools of the restaurants and cafes on the main road that runs down from the village to the beach. At Liapades main beach, approximately 10 minutes' walk downhill from the house there are boats and pedalos to hire, guided boat tours around the island and nice beach bars to buy food and drinks. Some of the village streets in Liapades are very narrow and cobbled so, unless you are confident driving through small roads, we recommend a smallish car for getting around, e.g. a VW Polo or a Nissan Micra.
