The St Michel district is organised around the Place Canteloup and the Place des Capucins, both devoted to commercial activities. Saint-Michel hosts flea market activities especially on Sunday mornings and the Capucins, for a long time a wholesale food market, is now a neighbourhood market. Cosmopolitan, the district sees the arrival of architects, start-ups and artists attracted by the district's dynamic cultural life.
If you like the lively atmosphere of the markets, you won't want to miss a visit to the Marché des Capucins, the largest covered market in Bordeaux, where you can shop or enjoy a platter of oysters from the Bay of Arcachon, a plate of Spanish tapas, cold meats or cheese, accompanied by a Bordeaux or Entre-deux-mers. And all around the market, a large number of restaurants will welcome you to let you discover local flavours or take you on a trip around the world.
