Copper Porch Cottage is right on the water in a quiet inlet but close to restaurants and amenities. Oaklawn and downtown are 10-15 minutes and restaurants and groceries are about 5 minutes away, all on easy main roads. The furnishings, parking, and abundant storage were developed with eight people in mind, but it’s cozy enough for a couple. Watch the geese and ducks fly in, kayak the calm inlet and spend evenings around the fire pit at this tranquil, private location. As an added health and safety precaution no guests arrive on the same day that another departs to ensure a thorough cleaning and more time between guests from different households arriving. Kayaks are included in your stay.
Copper Porch Cottage gets its name from the screened porch where you can talk for hours with no mosquitos! The screening is copper, which is the best material for viewing, but it is fragile, so please do not touch it or lean anything against it. There’s a table for four for dining al fresco and a cushioned sofa and chair. A propane grill is located down the stairs off the screened porch. Outdoor living continues at the lake with a fire pit with masonry seating area. Bring on the smores! The 16’ x 12’ swim dock with boat mooring gives you a front-row seat to enjoy the evening, swim, or go fishing. Do not dive from the dock as its deepest water is 4 feet; we recommend entering and exiting the water from the boat ramp or from the ladder on the dock. Utilize the private boat ramp right outside the back door by bringing your boat, personal watercraft, or SUP. The ramp is best for smaller boats; there is a public boat ramp close-by for larger boats. There’s parking for your truck and trailer as well. [PLEASE NOTE: from early-mid November through mid-March Lake Hamilton is lowered several feet for dock maintenance. There is still plenty of water to boat and kayak, but the boat mooring on the swim dock is not available. We are happy to message you a photo of the lake during those months.]
Two living areas means a cozy, gas fireplace den for playing board games and another sitting area to watch the game on a 50" TV. The open concept makes viewing the TV possible at the dining table, if your mom allows that sort of thing! Like to cook? We’ve got you covered with a fully outfitted kitchen with granite countertops and the expected coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven, ice maker and blender. The gas cooktop is four burners with a griddle in the center and below is a 30” gas oven.
The 1900 square foot cottage has two king bedrooms and a four-bed XL bunk room, all with blackout curtains so you can get some sleep. Share it with another family or host a girl’s weekend because there’s plenty of space for everyone with bunks that have stairs, not a ladder, to the top bunks. The bunks are extra-large twins with mattress toppers, which comfortably accommodate adults. The TV in the bunk room is for streamed content, no cable. Also on the main level is a king bedroom en suite with a tub shower, double sinks and a 42” smart TV with cable. The other main-level bathroom has a walk-in shower and plenty of towel rods and hooks. The home has an on-demand water heater, so there’s enough hot water for 8 guests to take a hot shower one after the other. Down the stairs at lake level is a king bedroom with its own bathroom and a 50” smart TV with cable and club chairs for viewing. We recommend that children do not sleep downstairs as there is a door leading outside to a covered porch that is 40 feet from the lake. This is a split-level home with most of the rooms on the main level and only this private suite downstairs.
In order to keep an instant booking with a pet, the renter must message the host with the breed and size of the dog. The dog fee is $150 per dog with a maximum of 2 dogs. No cats or other pets are allowed.
Regarding accessibility, there are three steps from the carport into the house on the main level, and once inside there is a set of stairs down to one of the king bedrooms and bathroom. There is a sidewalk leading down the side of the house that provides a slope to the exterior entrance of the downstairs bedroom and to the boat ramp and lake. The sidewalk is too steep for a wheelchair without a very strong helper. You can also reach the grill, lake and fire pit via a set of stairs from the screened porch.
We do have external security cameras.
