Black Birch Retreat, a large 4BR/3BA home with over 3000sf of interior living space accommodating up to 13 guests comfortably. It is an ideal High Country mountain vacation retreat with popular bells and whistles like a hot tub, fire pit, game room with pool table, a private King master suite, and many more!

In addition, Black Birch Retreat further sets itself apart from other similar vacation homes, thanks to a handful of unique attributes.

-Although nestled among mature hardwood trees in a cozy and safe family-friendly environment, Black Birch Retreat is optimally and conveniently located less than 3 miles from downtown Boone and less than 5 miles from Appalachian State University campus and all of its athletic venues. It is close to and convenient to Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, and all that the High Country offers.

-As their primary home for years leading up to 2021, the owners have lovingly furnished and outfitted this home, making "every day a vacation" for themselves and their children. Shifting gears this year to focus on sharing their family home with vacationing guests, they have added new furniture, new amenities, and numerous other unique special features, setting this property above the rest as an ideal vacation retreat for families to enjoy.

The main level offers an open concept kitchen, dining, and living area with soaring vaulted ceilings, a fully-updated kitchen with stainless appliances, dining for up to 12 people between the custom-crafted dining table and the adjacent island bar top, and comfy living room furniture situated in front of a gas log fireplace and an HD Smart TV. The main entry flows into a spacious mud and coat room where guests can get out of their boots and jackets and continue into the open living area. There are two bedrooms on the main level, one with a King bed and an HDTV. The other has a Full-over-Full bunk bed and a Twin trundle bed. The hallway bathroom is nicely-updated with a tub and shower combo. The large laundry room has a washer and dryer. There is a huge main level deck spanning the width of the house and wrapping around one side. The deck offers plenty of outdoor seating, a gas grill, and two outdoor dining tables. Although close and convenient to everything, you can enjoy a peaceful wooded mountain setting on the decks of Black Birch Retreat.

The upper level boasts a huge master suite with vaulted ceilings, a king bed, large HD Smart TV, a comfortable private sitting area, and a walk-in closet. The private ensuite master bathroom has been updated with a gorgeous tile and rock shower with a frameless glass door and a custom granite vanity countertop with his-and-her sinks. The upper level loft is a space to work, read, play games, and relax.

The lower level features a huge den and game room with a slate pool table, comfy oversized furniture, and a huge HDTV. The large lower level bedroom boasts another King bed and a Queen sleeper sofa and offers another ensuite bathroom with a large shower and Quartz vanity. Off the den and bedroom is the lower level patio, where you will find a hot tub, porch swing, a path up to the fire pit and playhouse on one end, and exterior steps up to the main level and parking area on the other end.

The road in and parking area are level and convenient. Up to 5 vehicles can park here, and all have level entry into the main floor. Black Birch offers central heat and air conditioning for year-round comfort, WiFi internet and digital cable TV programming, and an outdoor wood-burning fire pit. Just outside the main level and visible from the kitchen window is a fun playhouse, perfect for children to explore and play safely. Howard's Creek, a bold mountain creek worth checking out, is an easy walk from the house.

Black Birch Retreat is less than 3 miles to downtown Boone and only 2 miles to the movie theater and grocery store in a shopping center that also offers restaurants, a coffee shop, and numerous other shopping options. Downtown Blowing Rock is only 10 miles away. Both Tweetsie Railroad and Appalachian Ski Mountain are only 7 miles away on the way into Blowing Rock.

Downtown Banner Elk is less than 20 miles away, with numerous popular attractions to explore on the way. Sugar Mountain Ski Resort and the Sugar Mountain Public Golf are 18 miles away. Wilderness Run Alpine outdoor roller coaster is 17.5 miles away. Grandfather Mountain and its famous Profile hiking trails are about 16 miles away. Just above downtown Banner Elk is the Beech Mountain Ski Resort, which is about 24 miles away.

The village of Valle Crucis, with its famous Original Mast General Store and riverfront community park, is only 11 miles away. On Seven Devils, just past Valle Crucis, is the Hawksnest Snow Tubing and Zip Line Park, about 16 miles away. Horseback riding, rivers that offer fishing and tubing/rafting, trails to bike, hike, walk, and many more things to see and do are conveniently close to Black Birch Retreat. Because Black Birch is situated just outside of Boone proper on the southeast side, it is convenient to travelers coming from and through Charlotte and those coming west and north from Raleigh, through Winston Salem. The main highway coming into Boone, HWY 421, is less than 2 miles from Black Birch Retreat.
