Welcome to our family beach home, with a partial sea view from the back deck and a front porch shaded by oak trees. Located in the quiet Yaupon area of Oak Island, this “home away from home” is only steps away from the beach so you do not have to pay parking fees to enjoy the beach or pier. Enjoy beautiful sunrises over the nearby pier and spectacular sunsets along the beach. This ideal location is a short walk to restaurants, coffee shops, and more! AND you’re just a 15-minute drive from the town of Southport or a 45-minute drive from the beach city of Wilmington, both historical locations with more waterside restaurants and lots of family activities. So much to do - book while you can!

Our cottage is a single story home with an open and airy feel. The main highlights are a large shaded front porch and sunny open back deck with peek-a-boo views of the ocean. Enjoy rocking on the decks or sitting on the swing seat and listening to the relaxing sound of the waves crashing on the beach.

The quaint historic town of Southport is 6 miles away and offers something fun for everyone! Boat tours, ferry to Bald Head Island, Waterfront Park, and a variety of waterfront restaurants. The city of Wilmington is also only a 45 minute-drive away and while much busier than this area, it offers many fun family acitivities such as an aquarium, Jungle Rapids Family Fun Park, escape rooms, animal parks, and the historic riverwalk with waterfront restaurants.

- Free parking on driveway for 2 cars with additional parking available close by in public parking areas.
- Street parking is limited to 72 hours without moving; please do not park on the grass as we have sprinklers.
- 45 minute drive to Wilmington.
- 1 hour drive to Myrtle Beach.

Wonderful!

Our stay at Oak Island was perfect. We loved the location, the house was clean, and the new front porch was lovely for mornings and evenings. We had a small issue with the door code on the storage room not working and Claire sent us a solution almost immediately. A+++ we are looking forward to next year!

Beautiful beach house

It was first visit to Oak Island and we absolutely loved the town and the house! This place is exactly as stated, it’s just 100 steps away from the beach!!! The house is beautiful and has everything you would need for your family, starting from beach chairs & buggy to the instant pot. Our host, Clair was very friendly and communicative. She was prompt with her responses. She has a book that has lists of good restaurants, stuff to do around town etc. it was very helpful. We’ll definitely visit again.

Great beach house

The only reason I gave accuracy of online listing 2 stars was because the VRBO app listed 3 bathrooms when it was only 2. The website had it as 2 bathrooms. This was entirely on VRBO. This was a lovely place to stay with great owners. There were a couple of issues related to the stove that were out of their control, but they handled it perfectly. Would definitely stay here again!

Awesome Weekend Getaway Spot

We loved our stay in Claire’s home. It was clean, true to the listing, and steps away from the beach. Loved how it was walkable to other amenities as well like restaurants and bars. The porch was a great spot to hang out in the evenings. The beach chairs and games provided were a huge plus as well. Wish we had stayed longer than just a weekend but plan to return!

We have been visiting Oak Island as a family for many years and feel that this coastal area of Oak Island, so close to Southport, is a hidden gem. Our beach house was a dream of ours and captures the relaxed and tranquil charm of the friendly Yaupon Beach area.

We would love to share our "happy place" with you and hope you enjoy it as much as we do. You hear the sound of the ocean and smell the salty sea in the air from the porch and deck. You can see the ocean from the road & back deck, so it's only a short stroll down the street with its pier close by. We love walking along the beach, watching the pelicans, dolphins and the occasional wale. The sunsets are spectacular and are a highlight of our day. Fantastic restaurants and coffee shops all within walking distance are the icing on the cake. You can truly relax here without the need to keep getting in your car.

Quais são os elementos especiais deste alojamento?

To be able to sit on the porch or deck and hear or see the ocean while listening to the birds singing in the historic Live Oaks could not be more relaxing. The trees give the neighborhood a calm feeling as well as welcome shade.
