We, Eva Riemer-Uebel and Markus Riemer, are a German couple that opened Palmetto Lodge in December 2022. After working in the PR and event business for more than 30 years, we decided to make our dream happen, living in Costa Rica. We are looking forward to be your hosts.
Por que motivo escolheu este alojamento?
Enjoy breathtaking sunsets with a cocktail on the pool deck. Experience the wildlife of Costa Rica in the immediate vicinity. Wake up to howler monkeys, watch iguanas, armadillos, coatis and parrots from your patio. Discover secluded dream beaches and take advantage of the wide range of leisure activities right on your doorstep. You can book surfing, horseback riding, mountain biking and guided jungle tours directly with us.
Whether for a short break or a longer stay: The Palmetto Lodge combines pleasant tropical temperatures with outstanding comfort, the most modern communication and teleworking options and an excellent range of food and drinks. In the Palmetto Lodge, tropical means "pleasantly warm". Last year the thermometer on the terrace showed 28° Celsius almost every day.
With the Pacific right on your doorstep, a hotel pool wouldn't actually be that necessary. But the Palmetto Lodge offers its guests real pool fun all year round. With a total length of 15 meters and an average temperature of 28° to 30°, the sun-heated pool is the focal point of the complex. A third of the length houses a huge whirlpool with a surrounding bench.
The huge sun deck juts out into the jungle and has loungers for all guests as well as lounge seating for snacks right by the pool. On the other side is the restaurant terrace. Guests can use the pool, which is illuminated in the evening, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. In the high season we also offer sundowner cocktails directly on the beach several times a week.
For active leisure activities, the guests of the Palmetto Lodge can fall back on a large regional offer. 3 nature parks are within easy reach for a day trip. We are happy to book surfing, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking and some other activities for you.

Quais são os elementos especiais deste alojamento?
Costa Rica is a country with breathtaking flora and fauna. On the Pacific side of the Nicoya Peninsula, where Palmetto Lodge is located, the so-called dry jungle prevails. In contrast to the high-altitude rainforests - where it can also get quite cold - we have two seasons here. From November to May, the peak tourist season, there is practically no rain. Temperatures are generally higher at this time, although there is a constant breeze blowing around Palmetto Lodge. On our restaurant terrace near the pool, the thermometer shows 28° Celsius all year round.
During this dry season, the jungle changes its appearance. Some trees shed their leaves after a few weeks without water, which often opens up a whole new, interesting perspective of the sea. At the same time, this is the season of flowers. The whole mountain around Palmetto Lodge and other places in Playa San Miguel is a sea of flowers.
When the first rain sets in again in May, the whole picture changes abruptly. Within a few days, the dense green vegetation is predominant. For many locals and tourists, this is the best time of the year. Although it can rain during the day, it usually rains for an hour or two in the late afternoon just before or after sunset. Time for a cocktail on the covered terrace or at the lobby bar.
Throughout the year the animal population in and around Palmetto Lodge changes. During the wetter months, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, coatis, parrots, toucans and parakeets are regular visitors. The mountainous terrain below and above the lodge is home to white-tailed deer, the local small wild boar and numerous species of owl. During the dry season, armadillos, opposums and lizards roam the grounds.
October and November offer a very special spectacle. At Playa San Miguel and in the neighboring bays, tens of thousands of turtles, including the large leatherback turtles with a length of almost two meters, come ashore to lay their eggs.
