Other things to note...
Conifer...
Is a cute little, mountain town, with a lot of action!
There is quite a few local restaurants, bars, stores, weed shops...and the best part of it is, we keep it within the community and mostly everything is locally sourced. The locals are genuine and welcoming! Everything smells like evergreen trees and fresh air, combined with the smoke from neighbor's chimneys and winter lights all around. It feels like Christmas, all the way through March. The town, overall is very charming. Many locals that were born and raised, never left and still live here...That fact says it all...There is nothing not to love around and about here!
Places to go and things to do...
The Maxwell falls trail is just down the road, Evergreen Lake is 12 minutes away, Downtown 10 minutes, Red Rocks Amphitheater 15 minutes, Downtown Denver 35 minutes...With all the ski spots being 40 minute-1.5 hours away, such as Echo Mountain ski resort, Winter Park, Loveland Ski Area, Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail, A Basin and Eldora Ski Area...and being only 30 minutes away from an old western town and Colorado gambling and casino mecca (Central City and Black Hawk). Many bars and restaurants in each and every of these towns! All in all, the location of our house is Perfect and unbeatable. We invite You to treat Yourselves with everything it offers and we guarantee You'll be back again and again!
House rules...
Please KEEP YOUR SHOES OFF AT ALL TIMES!
Provided are two different size slippers and everyone will have a pair for themselves!
These get washed each time and are clean, for you to wear it.
Since this is our home and we would like for you to treat it as it is yours, we will need to impose an additional charge for whomever walks with shoes on, inside the house.
We do the housekeeping ourselves and will know if this rule was honored.
The floors are not treated, so, real, raw wood and can be damaged easily!
Also, if there is a spillage of any kind, other than water, the floor will absorb it and it will stain.
It will cost us a lot, to take care of it, so, Please, be extra cautious!
How to use the fireplace...
If you are trying to light the fireplace on, make sure, the golden handle on the right bottom side, is pushed all the way to the right. That means you opened the passage in the chimney, so the air can fluctuate and bring oxygen in, so the fire can stay on.
The chimney "closed", will bring all the smoke back into the living room, activate the fire alarm, choke the chimney and the fire will be out.
To start the fire, put some small branches, on top of piled cardboard and/or paper and light it on. As the small branches catch on fire, you want to put a bigger piece of wood on top and have it catch on fire as well and then the fire should be stabilized.
When you close the fireplace door, the fire wood will burn down.
Keep it closed when you go to sleep and make sure the fire is almost done.
Never leave the house, while the fire is still on. Wait for it to burn all the way.
When there is too much ashes in the fire place, you want to dump it in the small metal bucket, on the left side of the fireplace and dump it in the large metal bucket on the back porch.
Do not dump ashes anywhere else, other than the metal bucket outside of the house, ever!
Always make sure you did your due diligence and check the status of the fire, during and after it goes out. The ashes stay warm for a long time and even when you may think it is out, it still may not be.
Always keep the cover on, to prevent sparks flying out and causing damage.
You are responsible of your own firewood.
There is this older gentleman on the Warhawk street, that chops wood every day and sells it. You can get it in the local stores in Conifer, at any time.
The Trash day...
Trash day is Wednesday 7am.
Please don't take the trash out/up, before that. The cans are bear proof but there is still a chance, bears can go through it.
Please take the trash out at 7 am on Wednesday!
If it snows and your vehicle is not a 4 wheel drive (not a big deal)...
In this case and in general, we suggest, You park on the top of the driveway, to avoid not being able to drive to the paved road, due to too much snow.
There are snow shovels in the metal garage and behind the house, for you to shovel snow.
The terraces all have brooms, for the snow to be pushed off, so, please, don't use shovels on the wooden terraces.
There is snow melt, in the metal garage, for you to use!
We have a snow plower that will plow snow, each time it snows more than 3 inches (which is the rule in the area. No one plows around here, when there is less snow).
In case You need someone to get Your car out of snow, there is a number on the fridge, to dial.
Otherwise, if you don't mind staying in a warm, cozy house, that has the fully stocked kitchen, with your loved ones, cooking lunch/dinner and enjoying a movie time or a board game time...just don't call them and wait until tomorrow for the snow to melt.
Cell phone service...
You must be aware that you are in the middle of the woods, so the phone service may (usually not) experience some interruption. Our wifi though is AWESOME. The best in the area :)
Always make sure the wifi calling is on - not only around the house, but in Colorado in general. You are in the ski country, surrounded by woods, mountains, hills and beauty!
Be bear aware!!
Do everything you can, to keep the bears off the property and always be aware.
While we don't like them being around, they don't like us building houses in their neighborhood , so they may show up
every once in a while, to check what's going on. If they don't find "you" interesting, they will walk away. If the smell food and see food, they won't leave until they get to it, so, please...be extra cautious and careful!
We advise to always have the bear spray around the house, just to be extra cautious.
Waking up...
To this spectacular million $$$ views, enjoying your morning coffee outside or inside, where the views are amazing from mostly every window in the house, while enjoying the silence and clean air, along someone you love, while listening to wood burning and crackling in the background is a movie scene feel and enjoyment.
Truly, this house is a blessing to us and we hope you will feel the same, while staying here! We, eventually, will be back, living here full time, since, we don't think, nor have seen, a place so far, that can beat, everything that this house is!
Enjoy, relax, meditate, work out, cook, watch movies, sleep, be awake, run around, throw BBQ, invite friends, dance, play the guitar, play the board games, watch movies and tv shows, feed the deer, feed the rabbits, walk the neighborhood, meet the locals, drink strong craft Colorado beer, watch the sunset, watch the sunrise, try out all the restaurants and bars, build a snowman, throw a snowball fight, lay by the fireplace...do it all, before we come back and steal it for ourselves, again...and forever!
The Hot and Cold...
The house can be heated using the gas, electricity and the fire place, of course!
The gas thermostat is set to 70 F being the max you can put it on.
The lowest it goes, is 63 F.
If you are still cold, feel free to turn the electric baseboard heaters on, by turning the knob on the heater by the living room window. It should bring up all the heaters in the house.
Please mind...
That if you want to do some cleaning, the floors can not be cleaned with any harsh chemicals. You can use Murphy's only.
The island top in the kitchen is pure marble and no vinegar products can be used on it.
Although this message may be too long, we just wanted to introduce you as much as we could, to our home and surroundings, since we won't be able to meet you and to spare you having to ask questions and just simply enjoy as long as you can, when you open up that door!!
