Cabin Z is a rustic camping cabin; there is electricity and heat, but no plumbing. Cabin Z is not secluded, it is situated across the main driveway to the lodge house. It is our most spacious cabin, has WiFi, a microwave, refrigerator, electricity and heat. It has a fire pit, picnic table, and parking, and table top propane stoves or charcoal grills are available upon request at no extra charge. The stove uses the (approximately) 1 lb propane cylinders that are readily available, and we sell them as well.
Abrams Creek is near many extraordinary recreational sites, but is also its own destination. You are never far from our wild, whitewater stream that runs through a majestic hemlock forest. In some places, the stream is a constant source of energy and playfulness; in other places, it is peaceful and calming, inviting you to soak in its beauty. The forest contains a vast array of plants and wildlife.
The Space
The cabin is fully furnished with beds, chairs, table, couch, and other necessary furniture. Our guests bring their own pillows, blankets, sheets, towels, pots, pans, plates and silverware.
There are two queen beds on the main floor, and one queen mattress in the sleeping loft. It is the closest cabin to the shower house and main lodge. There is a private portapotty assigned to the cabin, and the shower house has both hot and cold water, as well as sources of potable (safe) drinking water.
We have other less rustic accommodations available as well, at very affordable prices.
Guest Access
Near the lodge house and office there is access to a phone with free calls anywhere in the US. There is no WiFi at the cabins, but there is WiFi in the vicinity of the main lodge house.
We are located within 30-45 minutes of many major recreational areas, including Blackwater Falls, Swallow Falls, Dolly Sods Wilderness, the Youghiogheny River, several ski resorts, and Deep Creek Lake. Mount Storm (3 miles) has a general store, gas station, library, motel, sports and recreation store, and public park.
Interaction with Guests
Guests are welcome to interact with hosts as they choose or be as private and secluded as they wish to be. Weather permitting, we have a bonfire most Saturday nights.
