Disappointed

Structurally the cabin was very attractive and is at the top of a steep driveway without signage. Very peaceful and clean location. Unfortunately, the air conditioning did not work and the temperature hovered around 80 degrees for most of our stay. Ceiling fans and lights were controlled by a unique set of switches that were difficult to operate. The property owner said he would get the AC repaired and call back with when that would happen. He never called back and the AC was not repaired.

Needs work and attention.

First the bad, a lot of the dishes that were in the cabinets were dirty when we arrived and we had to run a load first. The place was pretty clean but there was a fruit fly infestation and they were everywhere. The bed that we slept in had a massive pee stain and wreaked of urine, but we didn't realize it till the middle of the night. The hot tub hadn't been cleaned in a while and had grungy ring around it with a big hair ball on the bottom. I cleaned it but my wife still refused to get in. This was a bit disappointing because it was our anniversary and this was one of the reasons that we chose this place. The photos show pictures of a new deck but those pics have to be at least 10 yrs old or more. The screened porch door won't close and has major water damage too it. Since the door won't close properly wasps were in the screened porch. One of the bathrooms has a major leak and is dripping like crazy in the basement. The leak doesn't affect the place yet but you can tell that it's been leaking for a long time and shows lack of upkeep. Now for the good, the view is fantastic and it's in a nice quiet location. With some love and attention this house can be great.

Great stay!

The cabin was great! It was clean and had a great view of the mountains on the deck. The hot tub was a perfect touch. We will definitely be going back.

The View

The view is great and the interior is nice. The property really has a lot of potential, however, it is like it was built and got to 90 percent complete and then property maintenance stopped (too many details to get into). A few simple improvements would be to fix the leaking hot tub which is rotting the deck, the kitchen needs more lighting and put a trash receptacle outside.

Perfect Getaway

My husband and I booked for a last minute weekend getaway. This home was tucked away and very secluded. The drive out was so scenic and the property was very secluded and peaceful. Our favorite thing was enjoying the perfect view from the deck and hot tub.

Relaxing birthday weekend

Great location (12 min to Luray), beautiful cabin! Needs some bowls and measuring cups in kitchen. Hot tub was wonderful, though some of the headrests and the surrounding desk is showing some wear and tear. Lovely view! Be prepared for the sun to wake you up. Loved the natural light. Could use a little more lighting in the kitchen though. Served our purpose well!

Nice 2day Getaway

This is a beautiful cabin on a quiet, private mountain top location. We stayed for two nights while visiting the Luray Caverns. For our family of three, this cabin was the perfect size. The views from the balcony were breathtaking. We got lucky with the weather and were able to enjoy the hot tub on our first night. The deck and covered porch are nice and spacious. More furniture to enjoy it would be a plus. There were only the bare necessities included. If you're a foodie family, there was only table setting for about 4, so bring plates. And bring chairs to enjoy the view from the deck. Overall, for a 2day getaway from the madness, this was a nice stay.

Nice Cabin

My husband and I went as a quick get away- it was really nice and clean. The driveway is scary and felt vertical, but we have a truck. The hot tub was really nice to sit in the evenings. I would go back. We got lucky and had snow one evening- which made the mountain and the view spectacular. We didn't go out and about around the area- stayed in the entire time.

Peaceful Romantic Getaway

We had a lovely time ringing in the New Year while staying at this beautiful log cabin getaway! David, the owner, was very quick to respond with questions prior to arriving and gave us easy straightforward access instructions. The cabin had all the necessities you would expect with a rental plus some and those views....WOW....especially sitting in the hot tub with snow falling!!

Highly disappointing.

To begin I messaged David before booking to confirm the hot tub was in working order, he confirmed it was just serviced.. we booked. Upon arrival the instructions as which cabin we were staying in wasn’t clear and we went to the lower one and could not get in, it took David some time to respond to us to get that sorted out. Finally we get into our cabin at the top of the hill, kids go straight to the deck to check out hot tub and it was luke warm 80 degrees, we contacted him, he said he would call service person in the morning and had me flick the breaker and wait a few hours for it to warm up.. which it did not our entire stay. The deck was severely rotted, unsafe. The cleanliness of the cabin was not up to par, had crumbs and dog hair on the furniture. I explained my frustration and he did say he had another cabin available that we could go to for our second night as that hot tub was working. Great, we were happy he was being accommodating… until we arrived 30 minutes away at the other cabin.. wow.. so unsanitary, so smelly, dead bugs everywhere, hot tub stunk, we turned around and left. David stated if I didn’t leave him a bad review he would give me some of a refund for all the inconveniences of this stay.. I tried for weeks to reach out to him and he has never returned any calls, emails, messages.. do yourself a favor and steer clear of his cabins!

Last minute trip

My wife and I wanted to get out of town for a getaway weekend, in very short order, we found and rented this property. We love Shenandoah Valley, and the views and the hot tub were amazing! Be sure to pack some of the essentials that you may need.

Perfect getaway Cabin in Shenandoah

Great CABIN in the Mountains. Grateful for all that was provided for a perfect quiet birthday in Shenandoah. Pictures do it no justice nor the nit-picky comments (this is a shared property with other renters- take care of it while your visiting). Everything needed was provided. Gorgeous scenery driving in and out *bonus. Bring your must have’s and you won’t be disappointed. Thank you for a great vacation.

Broken Hot Tub and Bed Bugs

Unfortunately, the hot tub was broken and there were beds bugs! We had to leave after a night of little sleep. We asked for a refund for the next two nights, but no response. A previous reviewer said the hot fun wasn’t working for them. Wish we’d expected it to still be broken!

Onion rings, fries or spiders, anyone?

Overall, the property was very nice! There were definitely things that were not very satisfactory, though. Onion rings, and french fries that someone had previously baked in the oven were still sitting in the oven. In the enclosed patio, it was very evident know when I’ve been there for days, because 2 of the windows had a huge spider webs with the biggest black spiders ever. The master bedrooms door did not open all the way, as it got stuck on the floor. Also, the door to the outside from the master bedroom was unlocked when we got there. The hot tub only had one jet seat that worked. The driveway up to the house was paved nicely. However, all of the tree branches really scratched up our cars going in and out. It had said that we should vacuum and mop if needed, but we only found a broom with no dust pan and had to figure out what to do with any dirt we had. We had went there for a wedding for our daughter so we had suits and dresses to hang up but we did not have a hanger pole in the master bedroom at all so everything had to go in a whole different room. The advertisement was for the host to sleep six people but we did not even have enough utensils for six people nor did we have enough bowls for six people. Overall though, the house was beautiful, but just not cleaned. It was very roomy and spacious. The location was very awesome, as it was three minutes to the wedding venue! For your next renters, attention to the details would make this a fabulous place to stay!

Could use some TLC

Upon arrival the key in the lockbox didn’t open the door. We had to call the owner and have him let us in. While he did do this, this process took around an hour. Multiple calls back and forth because he was unable to locate a key for the property himself. He had to have someone else come open the door. The cabin itself is beautiful, however it could use to actually be cleaned. My husband swept the floor per the instructions before departure and swept a massive pile of dirt ( that I can tell you was not from us) from the entire cabin. Don’t expect to be able to use the hot tub. As referenced in other reviews, it has not been maintained in a long time. There is a brown ring around the top and the filters are covered in a film. The door to the screened in porch does not close so it lets bugs in. There is currently a massive spider living in there.

Amazing view!

Gorgeous cabin and views. Close to everything. The hot tub was HOT. Only thing to be wary of is the driveway as it is very steep but paved. Would definitely visit again.

Beautiful view

Fabulous view! Loved the feeling of privacy and tranquility. The home itself has a lot of potential. A bit of random furniture and dishes, but we managed. Would be nice if the kitchen/dining table was in a place to see the view. Hot tub did not have any chemical tablets that we could see but my husband enjoyed it briefly. Steep hill to the house so I'm glad we brought our 4 wheel drive vehicle. I know we were in the woods, but we did have a few cockroaches as visitors in the bathrooms. Good showers and beds. I did not go to the basement, but my husband said there was some water down there. Believes it's from the air conditioner. Perhaps the tray. Also saw some sawdust by the screened porch door. Might want to check for carpenter ants. Enjoy and take care of this beautiful home on this beautiful property.
