The Space:
Enjoy a peaceful beach getaway at our seaview balcony studio at Santamar by Tao in Akumal, one of the most beautiful places on the coast of the Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Step inside the luminous open living room, complete with a cozy sofa and wall-mounted Smart TV for relaxing downtime moments at home.

You’ll have a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances and a dining table to seat 4 to enjoy meals at home. There’s also a breakfast bar with extra seating. Both spots also make a great laptop workspace if needed!

Outside on the balcony, you’ll find a dining table for meals al fresco or to sip a beverage and relax and soak up the sun.

There are 3 bedrooms to accommodate 6 people comfortably. Two feature king-sized beds and ensuite bathrooms, the other bedroom has a plush queen-sized bed.

There’s also a washer-dryer in the unit for added convenience.

At Santamar by Tao complex, you can enjoy the shared amenities like 11 pools, 7 of which are rooftop pools, one at each tower, and guests have access to all of them! Two beachside pools, with the larger one directly behind the building for this condo, a private Santamar Beach Club with 2 more pools, a bathroom facility, and access to a private beach.

Guest Access:
Santamar is tucked away in a beautiful jungle setting, accessible only via an unpaved road, so a car is necessary to navigate the road since the property is not accessible by foot.

You’ll have full, exclusive access to the condo and shared access to the complex amenities.

The Neighborhood:
Akumal means “The Place of Turtles,” and it lives up to its name as it’s one of the top sea turtle nesting spots in the Mexican Caribbean. You’ll also find lots of water activities here, nearby eco-parks with underground rivers, Mayan ruins, cenotes (natural freshwater sinkholes) & the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary.

There is walking access to the beach north towards Akumal Playa and two restaurants within walking distance (less than 1/2 mile by the beach): Jungle Fish to the north and Beached Bikini to the south.

Kay Beach Club is less than a 10-minute drive (1 mile away) and is a public Beach Club run by Tao. Here, you can go snorkeling or scuba diving! Beached Bikini Bar is only a 15-minute walk south on the beach.

Casa Club at Tulum Country Club (PGA golf course) is located across the street from Santamar entrance road, about 4.4 km | 2.7 mi away. And Grand Bahia Residences & Golf is about 4.7 km | 2.9 mi away.

You’ll be a short drive from Akumal town, where you’ll find small convenience stores if needed and the famous “swim with sea turtles at Akumal Bay” activity. (3.2 km|2 mi). There’s also a Wellness Center there, and day trips to Playa del Carmen or Tulum are easy to access, too!

Getting Around:
Santamar by Tao is 94 km or 58.4 miles, one hour and a 12-minute drive from the Cancun International Airport (CUN) when there’s no traffic. Please check your mobile map apps for accurate driving time. The development is situated on the beachside of the highway in Akumal and is only accessible by vehicle.

Other Things to Note:
Electricity is expensive here, so please help save energy by using the AC only when needed, closing all windows and doors when it's on, and shutting it off every time you leave. A daily allowance of 20Kw/Day of electricity is included for short-term rentals (2-27 nights). Additional consumption will be charged at 3.85 mxn/kw. Electricity is not included for bookings of 28 nights or more. On arrival, our local team will take a meter reading, and again on departure. You will be billed after check-out for any additional consumption.

Please note: There is a 5-minute gravel roadway to get into the development, so having a car is necessary. There is free parking at the complex.

We do supply some bath essentials to get you started, like some toilet paper, and soap. These items are not replenished each time you run out.

For long-term stays (21 nights or more), there is a fee of $55 USD for a mid-stay cleaning service.

There’s an extra charge for additional guests/visitors over the capacity of the property.

Please note: the unit does have a reverse osmosis system for cooking and drinking water.

A security deposit may be required prior to arrival or at check-in, subject to the booking platform used to make the reservation. This fee is charged as a credit card transaction and refunded after check-out, provided all terms are met.

We supply you with a starter kit of limited home and bath essentials, like toilet paper, soap, paper towels, and some trash bags.

The property uses surveillance cameras on the exterior of the premises. These cameras are strictly for security reasons only.

Long-term stays are available. And with good Wi-Fi, it’s great for the remote worker|digital nomad!

Guests will be requested to sign a Rental Agreement upon booking confirmation.

HOUSE RULES
- Travelers must be at least 21 years of age or older to book.
- No smoking of any kind (tobacco or cannabis) is allowed in the condo, and the use of any recreational drugs on the premises is strictly prohibited. Failure to comply will incur a $300 penalty.
- No parties or events are permitted, illegal activity is prohibited, and excessive noise won't be tolerated. No loud music is allowed after 10 pm. Please be respectful of the neighbors.
- No more guests than those listed in your reservation are allowed. No tent or other structures may be set up on the property grounds.
- Renters agree to cover any charge related to damages that occurred during their stay or cover necessary extra-cleaning charges if needed after their stay.
- Renters may be required to provide a government ID on the day of checking in or during their stay.
- Please avoid moving furniture.
- Pets are not allowed.

Interaction with Guests:
The place is self-check-in using the key in the lockbox to enter. All the information you’ll need to access the property will be provided before your arrival.

You’ll have complete privacy during your stay, but we’re available 7 days a week. Should you need anything, just send us a message.
