Staff were good but hotel is long overdue a refurbishment, very tired looking. Room wasn’t the cleanest and was very shabby, toilet didn’t work properly and sink unit warped as examples of this

Very nice hotel, very close to the train station but you can’t hear the trains . Old English cottage style place but still upgraded enough to be comfortable.. very pretty in the summer. Free parking! Very handy. You can eat in the dining room or outside. We were a bit early getting there 2 pm but the room was ready and we did not have to wait until 4 pm. Which was a blessing

Some disappointments at The Barn

My stay was quite comfortable. The room was warm enough (the weather was extremely cold!). Breakfast was very poor value - a real rip-off! Even when I arrived soon after 7.30am the fried eggs were rubbery and the food was cold, not helped by cold plates on my second morning. The coffee was also cool. When I went for dinner on night #1 the barman queried my request for half a pint of OJ and lemonade!! Really?? I am sure that is a common request. I found it quite rude.

Not a good stay

The pictures on the website do not represent the room we was put into. Our room (44) was at the end of a very narrow corridor and was in need of a major update. The shower was not usable as there was no water pressure and the bath taps were loose. The floor creaked every time you walked on it. Our whole block needs a total update as it did NOT represent anything like the website predicts.

Very good in some aspects, but ...

I booked the "cheapest" room (twin room) and sadly that meant a very small room (very!) with a very old carpet. They do have renovated rooms, but mine was not. HOWEVER the service and what they make available are both wonderful. My room had a brand new kettle, nice cups and spoons, lots of tea, lots of coffee and milk, and an additional excellent heater (handy for the night, I like to stay warm at night). The TV channels were plenty and the wifi was good. The hotel has been sold and I was told it will close down at the end of September, and that presumably is why the room was worn out. The carpet was old and the sheers too needed changing but understandably there is no point now. I do prefer modern rooms and ultra clean rooms because I like to walk bare foot. I did not in this hotel. Another issue is that I could hear the person walking above me very clearly, the same way you would do in an old, non insulated house, and that kept me awake for far too long. So if that's an issue for you too you need to ask for the 1st floor (not the ground floor). THE LOCATION IS FABULOUS, a very short walk to the underground station of Ruislip (2 minutes) and a very short walk to the great supermarket Waitrose (an excellent supermarket). Even if the room is worn out I would actually return for the location and the fact that they do try to make one's stay pleasant more than the average hotel. My little room did not have air conditioning but I did not need it

A good find with good links to Wembley

I would stay here again, well positioned a great balance between price & location, free parking was very welcome. Room was ok , fully functional. Only moan would be breakfast , staff were lousy and the food not too much better.

I stayed for one night in order to attend some events in London. There is plenty of parking so I was able to check in and leave my car in the morning. Ruislip tube station is a short walk and from there its easy to take the piccadilly line in to the west end or the metropolitan to Wembley. The grounds are really nice and well kept and the rooms have been provided in old farm buildings which have a lot of character. The room was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. The place was quiet and I slept well. Staff were nice and friendly. Only negatives, I'd shut the small rooms with equipment and rubbish in them rather than leaving them open. And Breakfast wasn't very vegan friendly. There was enough to eat but no margarine, only butter, no soya milk or yoghurts. But I would definitely stay again.

Fab stay when visiting London

Excellent stay - lots of character and a short stroll away from the Underground station. Friendly staff, excellent facilities and a good bar menu offering a good selection of reasonably priced meals. Highly recommended!

This hotel is in need of refurbishment, with its overall appearance being 'scruffy'. I did not eat there so cannot comment on its restraunt, however, the breakfast (as with most hotels these days) was cold and uninspiring. The two members of staff I saw were helpful and did their best. The staff on reception were good.

Good location and pretty looking hotel.

Lovely gardens and perfect site close to Ruislip underground station and shops. plenty of parking . Room was in a block off the garden and clean and tidy but in need of some redecoration and updating. Double bed was a bit hard so not that comfortable, but we were only there for two nights and the room amenities were good. Didn't use the bar or restaurant so can't comment.

Disappointing.

The room was ok but not clean in places. Bathroom - sink tap broken; had bath but black dirt came out so didn't use it. Breakfast - they said they had vegan friendly sausages but they didn't have any so I went to Wetherspoons. Asked if could have twin beds and not double but told would be £80 upgrade. Very noisy - could hear conversation in next room.
