Edington Lodge is situated in an enviable location, Great for Glastonbury Festival in the heart of the village of Edington, located at the foot of the Polden Hills, between Bridgwater and Glastonbury, Bristol 45mins, Bath 55 mins. Easy to get to beaches on North or South Coast Surfing & Sailing. Great for cycling too. Close to the Shapwick Heath, Catcott and Westhay Nature Reserves, which claims to be the earliest known track in Europe, if not in the world, dating back to around 4000BC which linked the Poldens with the Island of Westhay.
This holiday property was built in the 15th century and has been decorated and furnished to a good standard. There are many character features, including a covered well in the ground floor bedroom of the cottage wonderful feature blue lias stone walls, beams and part stone flags. The Cottage & Main House offer an ideal place for families and friends to get together. The Cottage is attached to the main house but has its own private entrance.
There are many local attractions, including Glastonbury Tor and Glastonbury Abbey, which are iconic Somerset landmarks. Climb up to St Michael’s Tower, sit down and take in the beauty of the place. Located in the heart of Somerset, Shapwick Heath National Nature Reserve has a variety of habitats, including wildflower meadows, ditches, dens, damp fern woods & open water surrounded by reed beds. From November to February, Shapwick Heath is one of the best places in England to see the huge flocks of starlings; murmurations which come to roost in the Autumn & Winter. Around 64 different species of birds nest here, including Cetti’s warbler and great-crested grebes, dragonflies and over 27 species of butterflies around in the summer.
The property is close to Glastonbury, Street and The Clarks Village, where retail therapy is a must and pampering if required. The charming city of Wells is just 25/30 minutes away. The Mendip Hills, Wells Cathedral, Wells, Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge, Caves, Coleridge’s Cottage, Bath, Roman Baths, Fyne Court, RAF Yeovilton, Cider Farms, Hanes Motor Museum, Stourhead, the Quantock Hills, Dunster Castle, Hestercombe Gardens, Lytes Cary Manor and many NT properties are all in reach.
