Mar Azul

Blue Sea is enviably located in the Portichol Cove, or Barraca Cove. Famous for its whitewashed fishermen's houses and panoramic views of Portichol island. The house is an 8-minute downhill walk from the pebble beach and crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean.



Two private parking spaces at street level are a gift from God during the busy summer months. From the parking area, the house is accessed via stone-clad stairs that climb and wind around the beautiful terraced gardens.



Divided into two independent floors, the upper half of the house is at the same level as the swimming pool and barbecue area; a fabulous leisure space with sun loungers, hammocks and an outdoor dining table, all surrounded by lush trees and flowering Mediterranean plants.



Inside, two good-sized rooms, one large double and one double with two single beds, share a family bathroom with a bathtub and wall shower and a practical independent washbasin. On the same floor, the kitchen opens, through an American bar, to the large dining room; a relaxing space with high ceilings, lots of light and plenty of Mediterranean charm. Outside, a partially covered terrace offers outdoor dining and a beautiful panorama of pine trees and distant sea views.



The third bedroom has a large double bed that can be separated into two single beds to suit the guests' needs. It is accessed via stairs located on the side of the house, and it has its own living room, Smart TV, fridge and bathroom with shower.

This rule does not apply to families travelling with children or younger people accompanied by adults who are also staying in the property. We had a wonderful stay at Mar Azul.

It was a beautiful house with nice outdoor space. There were several nice seats outside so you could sit in both the sun and the shade. Beautiful view from the balcony. Quiet place and fantastic beds with very good mattresses. Stay within walking distance of 2 beautiful miradores with a restaurant/beach club with beautiful views. It is important that you are good on your feet because the house is built in terrace form and you have to be able to climb several stairs. It was also very nice that there were 2 private parking spaces a few more coffee and tea cups and at such a location a better coffee machine instead of filter coffee and a few more towels

JĂĄvea Holidays began life in 2001 when two friends, who had recently relocated to the Costa Blanca from the UK, decided (over a chilled bottle of local vino blanco) that JĂĄvea and its surroundings were simply too beautiful to be kept to themselves. As it turns out, that casual clinking of glasses was the start of something pretty special.

We’ve evolved, gained new owners and lots of hands-on experience since then. From humble beginnings, managing bookings via telephone enquiries, we’ve developed a user-friendly website, optimized for both mobile and tablet. Our search filters allow our customers to quickly find exactly what they’re after, and we’ve become dab hands at promoting our homes on social media sites #welovewhatwedo!

Our emphasis is still on sourcing one-of-a-kind holiday homes. Places that our guests will love so much that they want to come back time and time again. We now offer apartments with breath-taking sea views, beachy duplexes, family-friendly villas, as well as gorgeous off-the-beaten track fincas and cosy winter rentals.

Mar Azul is enviously located in Cala del Portichol, or Cala Barraca. Famous for its Instagram-able whitewashed fisherman houses and scenic views of Portichol island.

The villa is a leisurely 8-minute downhill walk away from the pebbled beach and sparkling waters of the Med. Two private, road level, parking spaces are a God send in the busy Summer months. From the parking area, the villa is reached by stone clad steps that lead up and around the pretty terraced gardens.

Divided into two independent floors, the top half of the property is on the same level as the swimming pool and BBQ area; a fabulous entertainment space complete with sunbeds, deckchairs, and an outdoor dining table, all surrounded by lush trees and Mediterranean flowering plants. There are also sea views from the pool area.

Inside, two good size bedrooms, a large double (180 x 190cm) and a twin room with two single beds, share a family bathroom with bath and overhead shower and a handy separate washroom. On the same floor, the kitchen looks out over a breakfast bar to the large lounge-diner; a relaxing space with high ceilings, lots of light and heaps of Mediterranean charm. Outside, a partially covered terrace offers alfresco dining and a lovely panorama of pine trees and distant glimpses of the sea.

The third bedroom has a large double bed (180 x 190cm) that can be separated into two individual beds to suit guests needs. Accessed via stairs at the side of the house, and complete with its own lounge, Smart TV, fridge, and en-suite shower room, this space is more like its own private apartment. All three bedrooms offer guests quality beds, air-conditioning, built-in wardrobes, and mosquito nets on the windows.

JH Top Tip – Get up and out early to beat the summer crowds that head down to the beach. Join a kayak tour to Portichol Island or take lunch at one of the coves two restaurants.
