5 Bedrooms, all bedrooms are en suite, 4 bedrooms can be twinned. all individually designed. Travel cot and small bed available for children .

Ideal for families, large groups, couples or business travelers.
The snug room on the ground level does have a sofa bed that can accommodate 2 guests that cannot manage stairs, from September 2025 a Shower room will be available on ground level .

Edinburgh airport 25, Edinburgh city 20 mins, bus and train links available. Sink into our swim spa, kept at 36.5 all year round. New from June 2025 our Outdoor Sauna. All 5 bedrooms are located up main stair case. All bedrooms are en suite. 4 Bedrooms have beds that can be split into two single beds. We can provide Travel Cots , High Chairs The entire house and grounds are available for guests.

Escape to The Old Millhouse – a stunning 5-bedroom riverside home designed for ultimate relaxation and luxury. Recently upgraded with a brand-new sauna and cold plunge pool, it’s now the perfect destination for wellness retreats, family getaways, or relaxing weekends with friends.

Enjoy daily yoga sessions (priced on request at £15.00 per person), set up in the tranquil gardens or the elegant Orangery. Unwind in the swim spa, detox in the sauna, and invigorate with the cold plunge – all included free of charge with your stay.
For a truly bespoke experience, book private chef services starting from ÂŁ85.00 per person, ideal for special occasions or simply indulging in gourmet dining without leaving the comfort of your retreat.

Lovely stay

We had a lovely stay - the house is beautiful and very nicely furnished, and the kitchen is well stocked with essentials and cooking utensils. The property is gorgeous and location was perfect - nice and quiet but a quick trip into Edinburgh. Would definitely stay there again if we are ever back in the area!

Family get together

We had the most wonderful stay at Old Mill House. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped for catering for 9 of us and we all loved the swim spa and outdoor space.

Everything was perfect, the rooms beautifully decorated and are equipped with all the comforts for your stay. The house is stunning and the grounds are perfectly manicured with many places to relax and take in nature. The Old Mill House

The Old Mill House is a gorgeous house and property. Sally the owner is a delight. She gave suggestions and helped us book other activities (fly fishing lesson for son and grandson). She suggested golf courses, day trips and restaurants. We were a family of 10 and we all loved the experience.

Exquisite property with plenty of space

Really could not have asked for a better experience. Johanne was so accommodating and really made the entire experience so pleasant. The hot tub was great, the gardens and grounds were exquisite, and the bedrooms were so comfortable. Would stay here again without a doubt!

The house and property are beautiful, and the property manager was absolutely amazing. She suggested activities, arranged anything we wanted, actually picked up groceries for us and made sure we were happy. We will definitely go back.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Scotland. It was the perfect home for us.

I experience staying at the Oldmill house was just perfect. we couldn’t of asked for a more beautiful home. Sally knew exactly how to make her home beautiful and practical and modern but also have the Scottish feel. And Wilbur our driver was amazing.

Great family holiday

We had a lovely stay over the Easter holiday with our extended family. The house and grounds are very well maintained. Our little girl loved collecting the fresh eggs from the hens everyday. Sally couldn't have done more to make our stay enjoyable. Would definitely recommend and come back again!

The house and property are stunning. It is it’s own oasis which I cannot recommend more! Johanne was helpful and responsive in the booking process and checking in was as easy as it comes. If you stay, use Wilbur’s services! He was funny and sweet, and made getting around effortless. So happy to have found this listing on vrbo!

Beautiful house

Beautiful house, everything we needed was here, perfect for our family get-together. We took advantage of the "takeaway" meal delivered to the house ready to put in oven - huge helpings and delicious. Great house to come home to after busy days sightseeing, or just to relax in as the grounds are so beautiful. Thank you to Sally and Patrick who were so welcoming and helpful.

Ladies getaway

Great getaway for a group of friends. All queries answered before arrival. Private catering one evening excellent and minibus into Edinburgh great value. One minor point is 2 bedrooms on 3rd floor quite a bit smaller but we drew lots to make it fair.

Such a lovely home in a beautiful location. Picture perfect and minutes from Edinburgh!

Our family had an amazing stay at the The Old Millhouse. A stunning property located just minutes from Edinburgh and decorated to perfection. Our host Sally could not have been more accommodating and accessible for us. She graciously arranged for provisions prior to our arrival and made our life so easy. There are not enough Thank You’s for the opportunity to stay in such a lovely, peaceful property during the Christmas holidays. We hope to make it an annual trip!

Great house and a great location

We came for my sons 30th birthday and had a great time the house is.beautiful and the grounds are amazing. The owners help make our stay perfect by helping us with local activity’s we had archery in the garden and also a chef came and cooked dinner for us was an amazing experience would recommend this to anyone. And if you’re lucky enough to meet Patrick and Terry what lovely people they are. Regards Jeff

Week stay for Junior World Golf Tournament

We found the property online. We traveled with 4 adults and 2 children. The house was modern and spacious. The grounds were amazing and plenty of room for large parties to spread out. The highlight of the propertyis Sally who owns and manages the property. She was our concierge for the week and can arrange golf, private chefs and transportation. We highly recommend and will be back.

Excellent!

The home and grounds are absolutely beautiful. The home was very clean and well appointed, having everything we needed. Sally, the owner/host is the kindest person who really looked after us. She provided us with contacts for drivers, tour guides, and even a chef. She even made dining reservations for us. I had asked for a recommendation for bakery where I could order a special occasion cake. She gave a couple options, and then picked up my order for me. Her attention to detail is superb and she went above and beyond in so many ways. We would definitely stay there again if we are ever back in Scotland.

Most magical stay!

The Old Millhouse was an absolutely fantastic experience for my family and my in-laws. We we’re a group of ten and couldn’t have been happier about staying here. The property and house are both immaculate. The kitchen is absolutely fantastic for big meals or just a lazy Sunday morning cup of tea. Sally and her son Patrick could not have been more accommodating and helpful during our stay. We will most definitely be counting down the days until we are able to have another family gathering here!

Dalkieth Delight

By far the best host we have ever encountered!! I can not say enough about Sally and her ability to make us feel like family. She took care of our every need and then some!! The house is amazing and perfect for a group to come and have a great experience of Scotland. Her recommendations were perfect!! Come visit the Old Mill House in Dalkieth!!!

The Old Millhouse was Fabulous

You cannot go wrong with this property. It was beautiful, comfortable, gorgeous grounds, wonderful kitchen, private bedrooms/bathrooms. We had eight people, loved every second of our stay. Sally was spectacular, very helpful, loved her too. Travel to Edinburgh by taxi was inexpensive, easy, train station was easy as well. Many restaurants delivered, great supermarket nearby. Again, you cannot go wrong here. I will be back.

A beautiful idyll 


It is rare when a property that you research and select online meets virtually all of the benchmarks, but Sally’s property is not only beautiful and comfortable, but the service level is beyond compare. Having a small child with us as a family, we wanted a place that addressed her needs while also being appropriate for the adults in the room and the home did that and so much more! We were close to parks, golf courses, the grocery when needed, and close enough to the city of Edinburgh that we were able to take advantage of Sally’s in-house driver to see a concert and sightsee easily. We also took full advantage of Sally’s chef (and bagpiper;) for a daughter’s landmark birthday celebration. We couldn't have enjoyed ourselves any more than we did!;)
