Hale Makai was a perfect refuge and a great location for our stay on Kauai. The hot tub was a huge plus post-hike and Liz and Chad were awesome hosts! They provided everything we needed, from fully stocked kitchen to beach accessories.

This property was perfect for what we needed for a quiet family (2 adults, 2 adult kids) vacation and a great getaway. Rooms had ac. Property had a hot tub which was great in the evening after a hike in the Canyon. The kitchen was really well stocked with what you needed for cooking. We did 2 dinners plus breakfasts and lunches. Beach gear of 4 chairs, 2 unbrellas, 2 boogie board and 2 small ice chest were great. Furniture and beds were very comfortable. The location is fantastic for the canyon, uncrowded beaches, departure point for a boat tour and some great food spots in Waimea. The hosts were responsive and great!Not the spot if you want to be in the middle of lots of hustle and bustle, crowded beaches and tons of tourists. We definitely will be back!

Great place to stay on the “quiet side” of Kaua’i. Beautiful home right across the street from walkable quiet beach with the added plus of a great hot tub. Excellent proximity to Waimea Canyon and Koke’e state park for great hiking. Longer drive to north coast and Lihue/Poipu areas but for us the trade off was well worth it. Would definitely recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay! We met Liz and Chad who were both so welcoming and gave us great recommendations of places to eat and things to do on the island. The hot tub was a great way to end our long days. We loved the town and location. We will definitely stay again!

We had a wonderful time. Home was exactly as pictured. Kitchen well stocked & even had food storage containers & foil which is rare in house rentals. Very comfortable, would rent again!

Just as described and as pictured. Super cute, clean and welcoming. We loved having the hot tub to use every evening. Great location for getting to Waimea Canyon. Would definitely recommend this place and we would stay here again!

If you’re looking for a beautiful ,quiet place to relax and enjoy your vacation this is it! You’re not going to find a better host. The house was extremely clean and had everything you need. The bed in the master bedroom is very comfortable. You’re only a short drive to many beaches. Lots of good small local restaurants and small businesses that have things you can’t find anywhere else. After a long day on the beach or sightseeing, go back to the beach house and enjoy the super clean hot tub to relax before dinner or going to bed. The hosts made wonderful suggestions about places to eat and great things to see.

Host was very available and receptive to dealing with a minor problem and checking on us in general. The houseis terrific, a 2BR/2BA spacious and charming cottage with screened porch and hot tub. Very attractive outside plantings and sitting area.

Great stay!

Loved staying at this place during our time on Kauai! Very clean and comfortable, quiet, and had everything we needed. Great access point to Waimea Canyon and Koke'e Park. Highly recommend!

Wonderful stay

Liz & Chad were great with communication and had wonderful recommendations for places to see and places to eat! The property was very clean and very close to the ocean, where we found ourselves every day of our stay! If you’re looking for more authentic Kauai this is the place for you!We look forward to our next trip out!

Family vacation in Kauai

We had a nice stay at Hale Makai. The hosts were very responsive and were happy to help in anyway they could. The area is great, quiet & not a load of tourists (like me).

Hale Makai Vacation

Loved the stay - great house - super comfortable! Only down side is the distance from everything (grocery stores/reataurants) but it certainly isn’t the owners fault. Very quiet stay!!!
