Grand experience for someone getting away from the busy city life! Stayed here as a family of 6 (including elderly parents) the week of July 4th and what a treat this turned out to be for my Dad who was celebrating his 84th birthday on independence day. My wife, kids and parents unanimously agreed that the next time we come back to Yellowstone, we hope the home is available. Having this home in West Yellowstone gave us a place to spend a relaxing morning/evening and to enjoy the beauty of the park rest of the day. Some more details you might be looking for:
The 'really good' part:
- very well appointed with new bedding, kitchen wares and furniture. Extra bedding, bath towels, soaps, shampoo, washer, dryer with dishwashing liquid, a brand new Weber BBQ. Heaters in each room.
- abundance of bedrooms (4) and a very cozy living room and den downstairs means you can accommodate large parties/families
- quiet location, just few minutes drive from center of West Yellowstone and the park entrance
- very nice kitchen and living room with a TV (many channels to watch), recliner seats, comfy sofa, big dining table and brand new appliances in the kitchen. Very welcoming indeed
- lots of natural light, big windows upstairs and sufficient light downstairs in the basement level as well (although smaller windows).
- Well insulated home but good ventilation if you open the windows
- a million times better than getting a pricey hotel room in West Yellowstone (not comparing this to getting a room within the park which could avoid 60 min or more driving time each day you go in to the park)
- water from the faucet tastes so pure and fresh. Was a bit skeptical at first but it did not disappoint!
- very easy to work with Brandi, always good to have a flexible, accommodating host when renting vacation properties!
The 'could be better' part:
- no services within walking distance, but in return you get a quiet location with very little street or people noise. Make sure you go well prepared or arrive in sufficient time to pickup supplies from town before stores close.
- one flight of stairs with 6-8 steps to climb to get to any of the rooms from the home entrance (entrance is sort of at ground level, with a basement and top floor that make up the 2 stories of the home). As someone with an elderly parent who could still climb stairs, thought I would mention this in case anyone wheelchair bound was looking to rent.
In short, excellent stay; don't hesitate to rent it out!
