The location is perfect, and the property was wonderful. The only complaint would be that it’s an older house lacking central air and with minimal insulation. They’ve done what they can, but with a heat wave going on we definitely were feeling the heat! Still, a wonderful and comfortable place to enjoy a lakeside retreat.

Everything was absolutely perfect! We did everything lake, trails and stayed at the house it was just perfect, exactly as it shows and exactly what we needed! I will book I’m sure again a couple times a year!

This property is exactly what we needed. Good space and a place to sleep. We were at a wedding so we did not use all the amenities, but there was a pool table and a good yard.

Excellent getaway

We spent the weekend here, nice location and layout. Kids live in Ashtabula, and stopped over for an afternoon visit. Would highly recommend this location.

For clarity I rent several Vrbo a year. I have never left a negative review before. The house had two portable window air conditioners that were not up to the task of cooling the house. Even though the owners said they’d been in the house earlier that day they had not turned the ac on. They acknowledged that they knew the ac units weren’t enough and claimed they had ordered one for the living room as well. The furniture was not what was pictured in the listing. The upstairs had two cheap looking futons. Overall the vibe was much more hunting cabin than weekend retreat.The house smelled heavily of mildew. There were plug in air fresheners throughout- but they only added fragrance they didn’t make the musty scent go away. The bathroom smelled heavily of cat urine. This was literally the worst Vrbo experience we have had. Every other rental so far had nice touches of hospitality. (Complimentary coffee pods, snacks, extra toiletries just in case) This rental had none of those. Instead there were a handful of tacky glow in the dark planets on the ceiling of the bedroom and outlets with seriously questionable installation. When we brought our concerns to the owners attention they apologized and acknowledged them, but made no effort to make it right. The sour cherry on top was the 1500 deposit we had to pay to secure the rental. It was held for 14 days (Vrbo policy). We stayed one night and wished that we’d booked a moderately priced hotel instead.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am truly sorry that your stay was so unpleasant. We take every concern seriously, and since your visit we have addressed each of the issues you mentioned. There are now two additional portable air conditioners at the property to improve comfort during warmer weather. We also want to note that the property description clearly states that the cabin is rustic and is by no means intended to be a luxury or fancy accommodation. We strive to provide an accurate description so guests know what to expect. Regarding the musty smell, we experienced a significant amount of rain during that time. Because the garage is built into a hillside and the house is brick, the excess moisture can contribute to a temporary musty odor. As for the reported cat urine smell, we had a plumber inspect the property, but no cause could be identified. We have not received any reports of that issue since. The property is a continuing work in progress, and we are committed to making improvements. We appreciate your feedback because it helps us identify areas where we can do better, and we have taken corrective action on every concern you raised. Again, I am sorry your experience did not meet your expectations, and I appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention.

Shower could of been clean (past guests hair) not to appealing. Water pressure was terrible in shower for some reason. Other than that loved the quiet location and beautiful views.
