This is our third time to stay at the Art Cottage in Nevada City. The first stay was a gift from a friend who had stayed there previously and loved it. In reality it is too much space for the two of us as it will sleep four. Still we love it for it's magical, fantasy, artistic, creative ingenuity in design and layout. For us it's living in a different world for a few days. We'd like for it to be out own house actually. All the rooms have been imaginatively created and each is unique. There is wonderful original imaginative art in every room. There is a variety of music, (CD;s) unusual and unique books about art (as well as TV) provided which is enticing and makes one want to stay on to puruse, read and listen. On top of that is a good-sized deck where one can sit and read, enjoy the greenery or have coffee, tea, breakfast, lunch, or dinner if one so desries. Kitchen is well-equpped for preparing meals and which we did part of the time.
As far as Nevada City itself, it's a charming historical tourist town at this point. We came to participate in an annual band concert invitational sponsored by the Nevada County Concert Band. Besides that, while there, we attended a l performance of "Little Shop of Horrors" that was extraordinarily well done for a little theater group in all aspects - staging, music, acting. There's an overabundance of good restaurants to choose from, a great historical museum, a variety of shops to putter around in, Pioneer Park which has a swimminng pool at one end.
We had a happy time there both in and out of the cottage.
