Peaceful and rustic

Another wonderful stay at the Last Outpost ranch house. I’ve stayed here several times and really enjoy the peacefulness of the cabin and the property. Everything you could need- even WiFi now. Convenient to Bandera, Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Boerne. Love the friendly longhorns and the lovely hosts.

Cute stay, great location!

Property and cabin were very cute and well appointed. Plenty of room for family of three and could accommodate a family of five easily. The beds are very comfy! The creek was running as there had recently been rain and it was very pleasant. The location is great and it was a short drive to Bandera and the Medina River.

Wonderful and Relaxing

Third stay at this property- peaceful and beautiful ranch, with a friendly horse named Sky and several longhorns. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Plenty of breakfast fixings available. The cabin is comfortable and clean and the decor is wonderful. Always love staying here. Convenient to Bandera and Kerrville.

Peaceful and relaxing ranch stay

I’ve stayed at The Last Outpost cabin several times. It is a very comfortable cabin- great beds, A/C, small but nicely equipped kitchen, breakfast items provided (eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, juice). The front porch is a relaxing place to chill or read or chat with friends. The property itself is beautiful and peaceful, with visits from the friendly resident longhorns. Very convenient to Bandera, Kerrville, and Fredericksburg. Nice scenic drives in the area. The hosts are friendly, pleasant, and helpful.

Hill Country Hideaway

Perfect place to go to get out of the city and get away from people. Owner is very nice and let us handfeed the biggest longhorns ever! It was fun watching the chickens and petting the horse named Sky! Back off the highway about half a mile and has unbeatable views of the hill country right from the porch.

Peaceful and Beautiful

What a wonderful stay at the Last Outpost! Repeat visitor. Such a peaceful place- gorgeous views from the front porch, and we really enjoyed all the animals (longhorns, Sky the friendly horse, and the deer) and birds. The cabin itself was beautifully decorated with a Western theme. 10 miles north of Bandera and convenient to Kerrville and the Guadelupe River, too. My friends and I absolutely loved this property and appreciated our friendly hosts, Joan and Greg.

No view nor animals to see

We were not informed in the description that this was a Bed and Breakfast. It is not secluded and private as described...the owners live about 20 steps away and there is another cottage 20 steps the opposite direction. You were not able to see hardly any views from the trees. We were not able to see buffalo or other animals...only 3 longhorn. We had zero cell service, we expected spotty but not zero. The house was decorated cutely, but the bathroom was hot due to having a tin roof. We ending up buying fans to help aid with cool air and circulation. There were no drinks left in the fridge, but we did receive eggs, bacon, pancake mix, oatmeal and coffee.

Out In The country but “IN IT”

What caught our eye about the place was Joan provided breakfast goods! We had eggs, bacon, pancakes and coffee one morning and eggs, bacon, oatmeal, orange juice and coffee the next and then we were set to go have adventures!! Friendly animals and others behind fences made it a true Texas country place! The owner was so sweet and pleasant with us and even brought by some oatmeal raisin fresh baked đŸȘ!Yums! We craved some peace and quiet and totally got that too. The television availability was good and there were channels and selections for all ages. Do realize that the bedroom and bathroom are up a good long stairway. No bathroom down. For our adventures in this hill country area this, as the title indicates, was centered between the three places we wanted to visit: Bandera (our first visit), Medina (also first visit), and Kerrville (been many times but still find new things). We enjoyed Cowboy Saturday in Bandera and had our last evening dinner there Sunday at The O.S.T., the 2nd oldest restaurant in Texas! Delicious home cooking!! Though Medina is a small, small town we had a hard time deciding which building was The Apple Store (no IMacs 😊). You will love the ice cream and various apple creations including apple cinnamon ice cream!! Back in Kerrville we found the city park, Schreiner Park, and checked out campsites for another time. We also wanted to recheck where the first H‑E‑B grocery store had been and could not find the historical marker which we know we have seen before:)! No luck on that. I think it was Sunday when Joan asked if we needed any groceries as she was going in to the store. So nice and hospitable!! All in all this Presidents weekend was a nice breather away from noise of suburbs and cities where we live. Some awesome roads to drive and in spring I bet it will be gorgeous. The only things that I would recommend are: need a measuring cup for cooking (I could not find one, boost the cell reception (and that could totally be my service provider issue), and maybe have Wi-Fi available (but probably good for us not to have it). These are really minor to the awesome getaway that this gave us!!

Friendly and country

The house was full of antiques with the modern conveniences. Our host, Greg was very helpful and asked us regularly if we needed anything. he gave us dining suggestions for the area as well as giving us suggestions for things to see and do. The wildlife on the property (horse, cats, longhorns, chickens, deer, etc) made it feel like home. the house was very comfortable and they provided us with all the fixings for breakfast each morning. All in all, i would recommend this site and would return next time we are in the area.

Wonderful stay

Great rustic location and fantastically adorned country house. Our hosts we very kind and helped us with laundry and some supplies. Also showed our kids the livestock and let them feed them as well. Would recommend going back!

Simply Beautiful

Wow, what an incredible home and property. The owners were thoughtful, and considerate. My kids had a blast feeding the chickens (which provided delicious fresh eggs every morning), Longhorns, and horse. They had even more fun on the hammock, and running around in the large open areas which were away from any main road. We enjoyed it so much we will be returning. Do yourself a favor and relax at this beautiful place!

Beautiful and tranquil

Beautiful views from the shady front porch! We enjoyed meeting the Longhorns, the chickens, the friendly horse, and our hosts of course. The cabin was clean and the beds comfortable, and the kitchen was very convenient. Loved the western decor of the cabin also. Already planning another stay here!

Exceeded Expectations

Tranquil setting perfect for a little hill country getaway, kids enjoyed the chickens and other animals on the property, breakfast items provided were great, property owners live in the house next door and were friendly and helpful.

Country Stay

Beautifully decorated, a lot of attention to detail. Well stocked and great customer service. The animals were a fun little surprise. My 9yo enjoyed being around them and Mrs. Jones was nice enough to educate him about them and even let him help her feed them. Overall it we had a geeat time and it was nice getaway.

Great place to get away for a few days

We loved our time here! The property is just like the photos - even better! Very clean and quiet. We loved the free range chickens and small longhorn herd - which we helped feed! At night, we enjoyed sitting at the back table enjoying s'mores under the starlight! We will definitely be back !

Pleasant stay, with a few suggestions

The cabin is nice and comfortable. There's a large outdoor table for dining al fresco, and a good sized charcoal grill. The weather was warm but the A/C in the cabin worked great! Always comfortable inside. Cool morning breeze on the front porch, perfect for coffee. We didn't know this cabin sits in a cluster of three buildings, with the owner's house and another rental on either side. A little too close for real privacy. The vegetation has been allowed to get too thick and tall to really see the views off the front porch and all night the wind blew tree branches into side of the cabin, making it hard to sleep. Suggest that the owners really tame the vegetation around the cabin and prioritize the view. Free-range chickens roam the property and were underfoot. I guess that's what one expects on a working farm (we did get some farm-fresh eggs for breakfast, which were delicious). The property is pretty and the views are great but there's no place to really hike the hills, just a short dirt road that winds down to a creek or up to a gate leading to a fenced-off area. So, not a lot of room to roam if you like to hike. But it was quiet, and the accommodations were comfortable. I was surprised there was no soap in the bathroom. Had to wing it with body wash. Minor complaints in the big scheme of things.

Great first time experience! Easy booking with a reservation company that stayed in touch throughout the process. Met by the owner upon arrival, she also lives close by if there are any issues. Cabin was very nice and clean, beautifully decorated with rustic and western decor. Quiet and secluded but not too far from town. Just what we were looking for. Will definitely be back!
