Great getaway

Excellent communication with Sundog from beginning to end. Layers View Lodge was as described and true to pictures. We loved the hot tub after a day of hiking and enjoyed the fire pit at night. The views were incredible, house was extremely clean and king bed super comfortable! Easy check in and check out. Highly recommend!

Great Mountain Escape

Had a great weekend getaway to this beautiful, well-maintained cabin. We enjoyed the hot tub, amazing views and serenity this place offered. This cabin has it all, it was a great trip!

Close to Everything

Great view, access to the river, close to good restaurants, pubs and access to SMNP. Cabin was clean and comfortable. The hot tub was spotless. We spent a good bit of time just sitting on the porch watching the clouds drift by. You are not isolated but privacy is good.The paved one lane half mile drive up is winding and at times steep but not a big deal after a time or two. Try to take the first trip up during daylight. We stayed for a week and never encountered another car coming up or down.We enjoyed our stay! Thank you.

Fabulous Weekend Vacation

Our family just loved The Layers View Lodge. The view was amazing. We woke up to being surrounded by clouds and watched the clouds move through the mountains. We loved sitting on the back covered porch drinking our coffee, soaking up the sunshine on the patio and enjoying the hot tub in the evenings. The house was very clean and well-stocked. The beds were very comfortable. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house and location were excellent. It was very clean and well maintained. The refrigerator noise might be an issue with anyone sleeping nearby on the living room pull out bed but my daughter said she slept okay.

Great scenic spot away from it all

Was looking for a quiet, semi-secluded place close to Smoky Mtn N.P. but away from the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge. This place was perfect! Great view overlooking the mountains and far enough away from the neighbors to feel like I was alone on the mountain, but close enough to the restaurants and breweries in Sylva to sit down in town for a pint when needed. I was alone this trip, but can't wait to go back with the rest of the family! The 2 BR's and pull out couch will be perfect for the fam.

Amazing Mountain Top Retreat

If waking up to beautiful Mountain view’s while watching an Osprey catch it’s breakfast on the river in the valley below is something you would enjoy, then this is the place for you. On a clear night, amazing views of the Milky Way galaxy can be seen. A good feeling of seclusion and peacefulness even while there are neighboring homes nearby. A short drive to the Great Rocky Mountain National Park with plenty to do locally. We are already thinking about our next visit!

Layers cabin

I have been renting cabins for 30 years and this is the best cabin I have ever had. The view was amazing and even with the rain we found breaks to use the hot tub and the fire pit. I can not say enough about the cabin itself and how comfortable it was. Everything was so nice. I will be requesting this cabin many many more times. Thank you so much for your help in setting this up and for making our 1st New Years together so memorable. Management Response: Thank you for your feedback! Breathtaking View

We checked in on Sunday afternoon and the house was perfect! Spectacular vistas and well-appointed, well-equipped home. The Living Room furniture was a bit dated and not very comfortable - but not "bad." We were concerned about an inordinate amount of gunfire on the adjacent hills. However, I called Sun Dog and they informed me that there is a Police Shooting Range nearby. (Knowing this up front would have calmed a lot of fears - but...) Typically, we have to drive for miles when staying in the mountains to find virtually anything. We appreciated how quickly the area transitioned from spectacular views to quaint, charming streets and shops in Dillsboro and Sylva. Just a quick jaunt up or down River Road was all it took to find everything we wanted. The gunfire continued through our visit. But knowing "trained professional police officers" were the ones doing the shooting had a calming effect. I did lodge a complaint about it and Sun Dog - especially the Property Manager, Caleb, were very responsive and understanding. He worked tirelessly to resolve the complaint amicably and to our satisfaction. A beautiful, accessible property. Had it not been for the noise, this would have been one of our best mountain trips in a long, long time.

Beautiful home and view!

This was our second visit. Just as beautiful as the first! The view and fire pit give us our glamping fix. The home is lovely and everything we needed was there. Also, we love the little town of Dillsboro. Delicious food!

Convenient location, great views

We had a nice stay at Layers Lodge. It’s a right sized place for our family of four and provides great views while also being close to Sylva and Dilsboro and not requiring some long drive up a mountainside. The hot tub and fire pit were nice, and were much appreciated after our busy days of mountain activities. Overall a very nice stay and we would consider returning for another visit. I should mention that the property manager was awesome and very responsive to our questions prior to check in (we didn’t have a need to contact them during the stay as everything went as expected).

Hiking getaway

Cabin was lovely and the view was fantastic! Quite the climb to the top but worth it. The shower upstairs has a drainage issue and bath mats to step out on would be a suggestion. Other than that it was a fantastic weekend and will be returning to the area in the future to finish what we didn’t get to see.

Relaxation at its peak

What a wonderful, relaxing, and clean home! We had the most fantastic weekend at Layers View, and leaving was tough. From the outstanding views to the thoughtfulness of amenities and supplies for guests, there was nothing to complain about. It's minutes from downtown Dillsboro and Sylva, but we didn't even want to leave to explore town. Thanks to this property and its owners, we had a truly relaxing anniversary, and we will absolutely come back again.
