The Sunset Road House (Hot Tub! Hängmattor! Öppen spis!)

Sunset Road House är en tvåbädds, två bad, nyrenoverad 1952 homesteader-stuga, bara 15 minuter från den västra ingången till Joshua Tree National Park i Joshua Tree, Kalifornien.

Vi har designat detta hem så att våra gäster kan koppla ur och koppla av medan de njuter av alla moderna bekvämligheter. Njut av de spektakulära soluppgångarna och solnedgångarna från det expansiva däck och koppla av i badtunnan på natten omgiven av öppen ökenutsikt, vilda djur och en stjärnklar himmel.

Vi har nyligen gjort en totalrenovering (ner till dubbarna!) på den här mitten av århundradet pärla så det har alla moderna bekvämligheter för dig att njuta av. Den ligger på 5 vackra tunnland som du kan utforska under ditt besök. Du måste köra ett par ovägda vägar för att komma till huset, men ingen besökare har hittills haft problem, inklusive Prius! Lokala invånare inkluderar kaniner, roadrunners, sköldpaddor, coyoter och alla slags öken varelser. Vår favorit sak med fastigheten är att det verkligen känns som om du är mitt i ingenstans. Kolla in och ställa in :)

Det stora, öppna bostadsområdet har ett modernt kök, matplats och vardagsrumsdel. Det finns två sovrum och två badrum. Befälhavaren har en king size-säng (med eget badrum) och det andra sovrummet har två enkelsängar som kan omvandlas till en kung på begäran. Det andra sovrummet har också ett komplett badrum. Hemmet fungerar bra för en grupp vänner, två par eller små familjer. Om du behöver boende för fler gäster har vi också en nyligen renoverad vintage resesläp som finns att hyra i närheten. Fråga gärna om våra andra fastigheter! Vi välkomnar husdjur med en avgift på $ 35 för husdjur.

Sunset Road House handlar om en 12 minuters bilresa till centrum av Joshua Tree (roliga affärer, restauranger och barer) och en 15 minuters bilresa till Joshua Tree National Park Besökscenter vid parkens västra ingång. Förutom vandring är vi nära den berömda Integratron (en helande ljudbadupplevelse) eller njuter av en rundtur i Gubler Orchid Farm. Om du letar efter lite action kan du gå vidare till Pioneertown (25 min bilresa) och besöka filmen Gamla Västern före middagen och dricka på den berömda musikplatsen Pappy & Harriet's. Du kan till och med ha tur och se The Rolling Stones göra en uppsättning!

På The Sunset Road House finns en fantastisk pool (säsongsöppen) och både en boccia bollplan och en hästsko pit ... i badtunnan på natten under en filt av stjärnor. Ta in ökenluften i den privata utomhusduschen när det slår dig!

Can’t wait to go back

Living in CA in this economy we share our home with our 4 adult children and grandbaby and let me say this was a much needed get away. It was secluded, quiet and beautiful. Exactly what this overworked and overstimulated gen x couple needed. We drove through Joshua Tree national park during the day and enjoyed relaxing in the jacuzzi at night. 10/10 and can’t wait to go back.

Just a few hours from LA, and the city falls away — traded for quiet skies, golden light, and the slow exhale of the desert.I arrived with my mind full of city noise and left with nothing but space to breathe.The desert opens up here — vast skies shifting from deep blue to molten gold, the kind of quiet that grounds you without asking.Upon arrival, a chilled bottle of bubbles waits patiently, and the house welcomes you with bright, minimalist colors — nothing too much, nothing too little — just enough to let peace settle in.Evenings begin in the hot tub beneath the cool night air, stars stretching endlessly overhead. When the temperature dips and the hot tub has worked its magic, you drift to the fireplace — the glow wrapping you in warmth as the night deepens, a cozy story told in flicker and flame, the sweet scent of s’mores melting into the air.Days are perfectly tempered by the crisp, refreshing AC indoors. Out here, there is no rush — only the soft permission to be. And as the sun dips, the desert night joins your table like an old friend.This is more than a rental; it is a sanctuary to rest. I’m already looking forward to returning.

Joshua tree get away.

This vacation rental in Joshua Tree was fantastic! It offered plenty of activities and was perfectly located near the park. The check-in process was seamless, and the sunset views were breathtaking. The hot tub and pool were perfect for the weather during our stay. Highly recommend!

Gorgeous getaway

As i was driving into this beautiful home I felt like i had made a mistake, but wow was i so wrong! My friends & i were welcomed by this beautiful, peaceful, welcoming home. I dont think the pictures do this place justice! It truly feels like you are able to disconnect from the city and have all the conforts of the city life.

Girls trip

Great Escape in the Desert

It was wonderful to escape the rush of daily life in this peaceful, quiet, and lovely VRBO. All you could see were the mountains in the distance and all you could hear were the sound of birds. Our batteries were recharged. Kathryn and Jon were lovely hosts and answered all our questions quickly. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Joshua Tree next.

Joshua Tree Getaway

We really enjoyed the serenity of our stay as we lounged in chairs watching the sunset and soaked in the hot tub under the stars. The house was clean and comfortable and was a wonderful place to unwind after long days of hiking in JTNP and sight seeing the unique art exhibits within minutes of this lovely home. We were able to take a short day trip out to Ladder Canyon, the Salton Sea Rec Area, Bombay Beach, and Salvation Mountain. We'd love to return here again in the future and continue exploring all that this beautiful desert area has to offer!

Cozy stay

We traveled with our two teenagers in early March 2023. Kathryn was always available and responded right away when we had a little trouble unlocking the door when we arrived. It was cold and snowing during our stay but we stayed in and it was comfy and cozy - we had the fire going and played games. It's very quiet and the space was perfect for us for a few days. Thanks for being such great hosts!

Family fun and music at the sunset road house

The house has everything to relax and be inspired, all commodities in the middle of the desert, hot tub and above ground pool were amazing. We did what the owners reccomended to bring groceries, so we did not waste anytime. We were able to see the most beautiful sunsets, full harvest moon, and sunrises. It was an amazing experience, definitly we have to come back!

Excellent House and Owner

This house is outstanding... clean, comfortable, well-appointed and QUIET. It is in the desert with very little around (which is what we wanted), yet only about a 15 minute drive into Joshua Tree town. Kathryn the owner was GREAT to work with. She is extremely accommodating and responsive. Every inquiry was attended to immediately. I wish she owned every VRBO we stay in. If you are looking for a pleasant, relaxing getaway, this is it!

A Desert Dream

This house was amazing… it had a gorgeous yet subtle Bohemian vibe, was well-stocked with all of the necessities (and lots of extras) and was sparkling clean. Everything about it captured the essence of the landscape and gave my family and me that Joshua Tree experience I was looking for. The fireplace, hot tub, swimming pool (loved the cold plunge!), the hammocks, outside dining space and fire pit made it a true desert oasis. The hosts responded quickly and graciously to all of my questions, and the whole booking experience was easy and seamless. I’ve already recommended it to my friends who are planning a trip there, and I plan to go back again as well. It truly is a gem!

Fantastic stay

Nestled in a secluded corner of the Joshua Tree desert, this enchanting home embraced us with warmth and tranquility from the moment we arrived. The property boasts a stunning cactus garden that perfectly complements the serene desert landscape. During the day, we cooled off in the refreshing pool, and as the sun set, the hot tub provided a cozy retreat under the starry sky. The interior of the house is bright, spacious, and thoughtfully decorated with unique, stylish touches. Every detail has been considered, and the home is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a perfect getaway. Despite the remote location, a large grocery store is conveniently just 20 minutes away. Our stay here was nothing short of magical—both rejuvenating for the body and soothing for the soul. The stargazing experience was truly extraordinary, and we were able to capture breathtaking photos of the Milky Way. We can’t recommend this oasis enough and can’t wait to return.

A desert gem perfect for our anniversary!

The Sunset Road House was the perfect place for our anniversary get away. It was exceptionally clean with a very comfortable bed, all the basics for cooking (not to mention a French press!) and the AC worked fabulously in the 110+ degree heat we had while there. We also loved the little record player and vinyl collection. Best of all, it was amazingly quiet and we had a number of visitors - a jackrabbit greeted us, a roadrunner stopped for shade on the back patio, and a pack of coyotes strolled through on our last evening. It was a short drive to Joshua Tree and the National Park so it made for a great place to get away from everything but still be convenient. Kathryn was absolutely fantastic to work with, immediately responding to messages, and has the perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness. And if you happen to run into Rick, he's more than happy to provide info on local places to check out. Thank you so much for this gem in the desert and the wonderful hospitality!

Originally from Canada, we have lived in LA for over a decade. My husband Jon and I have two young daughters and we love to travel and explore together. We recently discovered the high desert and now spend every available weekend in Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, Landers and Pioneertown.
We live in a wonderfully historic and culturally rich neighborhood of Los Angeles but we love to roam near and far to see what other adventures await!

We love the high desert. We fell for the way our pulses slowed and our stress evaporated when we visited Joshua Tree. When we found this cabin, we knew we could make it something very special and over the course of a very hot summer, we renovated it completely including building our swimming hole! It remains our happy place and we are overjoyed to share it with you.
