great group weekend getaway

the house was perfect for our group. close to the mountain and enough room to spread out or all be together. the only issue was that the heat was turned really low so it was freezing when we arrived and the basement with the game room took well over 24 hours to warm up so the kids couldn't really take advantage of that space like we hoped.

Located in a great community

The Masthope community has great amenities for the whole family to enjoy. In addition, this house was well maintained and clean, highly recommend both this house and the area.

Perfect house for entertaining

The House was a perfect getaway for the guys. The game room downstairs is everything you need to have a good time even though we used the shuffleboard table most of the time. The house is very spacious and comfortable. Cindy and Linda were great and very easy to work with. I highly recommend this house.

New Year’s Eve stay

Our family had plenty of space in this lovely home. Walkable to ski slope, kids all took lessons. Kids loved the deer that showed up in the yard. Plenty of parking. The extra refrigerator/freezer made things easy for kitchen storage of extra food/drinks. Owner was a quick response on any issue that we had. Would recommend for a large family reunion, we had 10 in our group and it was a great space.

Little to complain about.

The house was very nice, spacious and clean. The outside areas could have used a little tidying up, but because of how nice the rest of the amenities were we spent little time out back. Our only real complaint were some of the beds were very noisy.

Terrific family property - could almost walk to skiing

When we rented we didn’t realize just how close to skiing we were. Could almost walk! Game room was great for the kids and adults and was pleasantly surprised by the skiing quality. Would definitely rent again. The second fridge and washer dryer were particularly helpful since it is realistically a 30 minute drive to groceries and supplies.

Perfect weekend getaway

The house was absolutely perfect and beautiful. It was just what we needed to get away from the craziness on New York City. Plenty of space and entertainment for all the kids. The only problem we encountered was the kitchen table wasn't big enough to accommodate all of us for dinner so we had to eat in turns or some stood. We were hoping there would be another folding table or something like that where we can bring out and people can sit but otherwise it was perfect. Def will be renting again.

Nice and roomy

Overall, this was a nice experience. It was the second time my family used it for a reunion. After the first time, I had informed the property manager of some issues like loose boards on the front steps and burned-out lights in the kitchen. To my surprise, the same issues were present again. And now there are rotting railings on the back deck, so if you have any small children, you will want to be sure to be careful with them as they could fall through. The interior was very nice and the game room is great. My son reported the bed in the downstairs bedroom to be uncomfortable, but overall, accommodations are good. We will probably be staying there again next year.

Perfect weekend with friends

We had such a great time, the house is really spacious and we couldn’t say enough positives about the game room downstairs! The house had plenty of room and bathrooms for our large group, so many sleeping options. It is a very short drive to the lodge, bonus that you get a discount for all winter sport passes at Ski Big Bear (including rentals, tubing and lifts) because you’re renting at Masthope. The owners were very accommodating and quick to respond when we had questions. The house and some furnishings could use an update but we’d everyone in our group agreed that we’d love to come back again!

Great location

Overall the house was very nice and large enough to accommodate 4 families. The location was great as it was within a 15 min walk to the pool. I have only a couple of complaints. There was not enough linens for the extra beds in the bunk room so bring extra linens (sheets, pillow, blankets). The bench by the fire was broken so bring extra chairs for outside. We were told that 8 pool passes were included and each additional pass (max 12) are $10 per person per day- that was not accurate and we had to pay $192 dollars for passes. The master bedroom bed was extremely uncomfortable- no one else complained about the beds. Overall the stay was nice and the kids really enjoyed the game room. Be advised that according to Mast Hope rules you are only allowed 14 ppl in a house even if the owner allows more.

The Beartastic theme welcomes you to an outstanding property, making you feel immediately at home.

Our family of 12, from grandparents to an infant, had room to spread out in this welcoming home. The wooded lot allowed for privacy and the viewing of deer. The kids were fascinated and named them! A fire pit and rocks to climb added to the fun. 5 bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths allowed for privacy within each family group, with linens provided as a bonus. The fully stocked kitchen and two refrigerators, as well as a downstairs beverage fridge gave us plenty of room and we filled them all. The game room downstairs was used every evening and we loved the recliner couches for grownup time and games. Honestly, the tv was never used with so much to do. We enjoyed the pool on top of the hill and the lake at the bottom. There was lunch at the lodge and dinner available. Free paddle boards, kayaks, canoes and paddle boats were on the lake. Great for our active members. The only advice for renters in the area is the fact that there are no local markets. Plan to bring what you need, with a small deli near the pool for a quick pick up. I would recommend a summer visit to this homey, welcoming and spacious home. Treat it with respect and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. Thank you Cindy for sharing your home.

House of Love

We had a blast. Especially the kids. Loved the visiting of the deers 😆 and the game room. The inspirational sayings hanging around really showed a house full of love. We definitely plan to stay again. Thanks to the owners for allowing our stay🧡

Perfect spot for my family after our Woodloch wedding!

The house is a gem! Clean, spacious, and a huge game room! The owner replies promptly and is very accommodating. I loved it so much, my husband and I spoke about staying again for our anniversary! It was perfect!

Great House For Family.

We only had a few days in this property but we had a great stay. Its the perfect place for a large group looking for family fun at the house. They have a great game room with lots of stuff to do for kids and adults. The hosts were great with communication and quick to reply. Its close enough to spend a day out on the Lake but also in a great quiet location. Would definitely stay here again!

Beware of this property management

Sometimes, reviews can be misleading and that is EXACTLY what happened with us. We stayed at this property just recently. The place and the town are very nice. Given a choice, I would prefer to revisit the town in winter. I will come straight to the point. The property owner/management are lousy. We booked this property almost 3 months in advance. Hence, the property management had enough time to pass our contract details to the community center of the town which offers paid facilities for the people staying at the town properties. As the owner didn't do its work diligently, we could not use the facilities. When I contacted, they went back and forth asking for details which they were supposed to get before the start of the stay. Hence, another 2 hours of time wasted. When I mentioned that, all I got in return was "sorry". Talking about the property, all beddings in all rooms (I repeat, all rooms) were making noise when you move in bed. For what you pay, one definitely deserves better bedding. If you don't get proper sleep during your vacation, how do you enjoy rest of the things? I am unsure if any of the previous groups had any experience like what we went through recently. I would strongly recommend you to STAY AWAY from this property.

New Year celebration

The house was huge as described! I love the woods! Very peaceful. The place was mostly clean , except area rug downstairs ( this does not make our stay worse) . I loved that I could get in touch with the manager/owner at anytime! The fire place was out of this world! We only had one problem….. no snow. Lol . I would love to come back! Over all we enjoyed it very very much!!!!!

Thanksgiving Get-A-Way 2021

This house is amazing! Very clean and spacious! We spent Thanksgiving weekend here w 4 families and had a great time! We definitely would return if in the area again. The game room is the best we have seen in all of our VRBO rentals! The owners certainly take great pride and care of this property and we would highly recommend renting this house!

Nice house secluded location!

The house was beautiful and the area was peaceful! The house has great views and a nice game room. The following are suggestions to improve the experience of future guests. It will be beneficial to have prior guests remove all of their items from the kitchen prior to departure/ or have the cleaning crew discard the items before new guests check in. It will also be beneficial to check the cookware because some were returned to the cupboards without being cleaned. The keypad was finicky making it difficult to enter the home without the key. The rooms were a nice size. In the room with the bunk beds , the bed frames needs painting to make that room more appealing. The master needs a clothes rack since the closet doors were locked. Not all the televisions were fully operational, perhaps the batteries needed to be changed. Light bulbs were missing in some rooms and in the kitchen. There was a broken spindle on the steps and a sliding glass door that doesn’t lock, making it a hazard for small children. We suggest dusting the fans in the bedrooms to help those who have asthma and allergies. The screen for enclosed porch was ripped making it tough for enjoyment and unsafe for the small children. The downstairs bed springs were very loud when shifting positions while sleeping. I highly recommend that guests bring their own towels because only a few were provided. Overall, this review pointed out easy fixes and in no way should discourage anyone from choosing this house. The house met our needs and was a beautiful place to stay.
