We loved the property. We traveled with a large group and had plenty of space. We saw wild horses most days. The beach was just steps away and the pool and hot tub were a big hit.

What an amazing experience

Lands End is a magical place, we stayed with 13 people ranging in age from 5 to 40 and everyone had the time of their life, the wild horses, beautiful beach, pool, spacious house, all the amenities

Great OBX house & location

1st - communication with the hosts is perfect. Both before our trip & during, we felt well prepared for our stay in the home & area. The owners were very thoughtful & we appreciated their offer with potential bad weather in the area. 2nd - the house was fantastic for our family vacation. The location on the 4x4 beach is in a great location on the sand beach - not too far up that driving to Corolla or further south was an inconvenience, yet far enough to get a true feel of a 4x4 beach vacation. The pool was a must for children - times when too windy or surf too rough at the beach 3rd Definitely spoiled by the daily visits of 2-5 wild horses! Highly recommend!

A wonderful place!!

Excellent vacation. This was the first time our grown children, with their little ones, were gathering together. What an amazing blessing for us all. Walking across the dunes to the beach with the babies took no time. House is amazing. Everyone had their own space. Outfitted with everything you could possibly need. Pool was great. Driving on the beach was easy - never even “aired down.” I drive a 4wd F-150. No problem. Saw the horses daily. Owner is VERY responsive. Great value, too. We are trying to figure out when we can return.

Wild Horses

The house is in a lovely location and as spectacular view of the ocean. We had some good fishing while there. We saw wild horses every day. We even got to witness sea turtles hatch and head to the sea. The only downside is I would not recommend this property if you don't have four wheel drive. We witness all wheel drives get stuck in the sand. It is not so bad when you ride along the beach it is getting off over the dunes and into the house. At high tide you have to take a secondary road which is very difficult to navigate with any other vehicle except a four wheeler. Enjoyed our trip The only problem with check in was using the phone to enter the house. Lockly only worked on one of our eight phones.

BEAUTIFUL HOME AT DREAMS END!

Dreams End is a beautiful home, and it was perfect for our family of 10. It is nicely furnished, and the kitchen is fully stocked with most any appliance or utensil you may need. Everything was spotlessly clean when we arrived, and the owners could not have been more accommodating and helpful during our stay. The home is just a short walk over one sand dune to the beach and there is even a nice sun deck on the top of the dune where you can relax, sun bath, or do yoga. The wild horses in the area are truly amazing and there were always 6-7 of them that would graze on the grass growing all around Dreams End every day. I know we saw way more wild horses from the Dreams End balconies then the folks who paid $57 each for a Wild Horse Driving Tour! Lastly, pay attention to all those who tell you to reduce your vehicle tire pressure to 15-20 psi and don't even think about driving on the 4 miles of beach to get to this house without a 4WD or AWD vehicle! Beach driving may be a little bit intimidating for some folks, especially during high tide, so be aware of that requirement to get to the house. All in all we really enjoyed our OBX beach adventure, and we appreciate the McGowan family for making our stay in their home a wonderful time.

Not a care in world

Great house great location. Took me a day to get use to traffic on the beach. Saturday and Sunday was busy with checkin checkout and horse tours. Monday thru Friday was not nearly as many and We easily fell into vacation mode without a care in the world. House is nice with four fridges we had plenty of room for our food and beverages. The views are amazing with sunsets and sunrises. The horses visited us daily. Loved to see them. I had no desire to do any tourist type activities. We had all we needed. No need to spend extra money like other vacations. Trying to entertain the kids. Owner was quick to give us information to help us out for some needed car repairs. We loved having the pool. May flies at dusk and mosquitos. Kept us out of pool area at night but with any good bug repellent you would be fine. No bugs during daylight hours. Easy to drive your beach gear to beach or walk over dune. Be lazy drive you stuff to beach! Thank you to the owners Kathy and mike they do take care of their house and their renters. Angie

This house was the most welcoming and beautiful home we have ever rented. The owners were amazing... they always kept in touch, were quick to respond to questions or any help needed, and they were very kind. The place was really clean, well stocked, and very homey. Every room had delightful views, and they were filled with cheerful, yet cozy beachy charm. The ocean views were breathtaking, and the short walk to the beach was perfect. We loved getting up early to watch the sunrise... sitting on the upper deck with our morning coffee. Our favorite sunrise experience was when we took chairs and coffee mugs down to the beach. We watched with awe at the beauty of the sun rising over the peaceful, yet majestic sounds of the ocean. Many mornings we saw the wild horses make their way over the dunes to the beach... a stunning and mesmerizing view. This vacation was perfect for our families, we had 14 people staying in Dreams End... ranging from ages 1 to 69. All ages were entertained, enjoying all the areas of the home and the beach. We honestly never wanted to leave this home. We would recommend Dreams End to anyone who wants to fall in love with the 4x4 OBX area. It's the most lovely way to savor the serene beauty of the ocean, breathe in the peaceful atmosphere, be touched with salty kisses, and leave behind all the busyness of life. It was a little bit of heaven on earth.

This was our 3rd year coming to OBX and our 1st year at Dreams End. We had an AMAZING TIME!! We were celebrating our 40th birthdays (my two best friends and I with out families). Our children ranged from 20months to 17.5yo. The house was fantastic!! Firstly, the house was so clean and up to date. It had all the pots and pans/cooking equipment we could dream of (multiple lobster pots perfect for our seafood boil). The beds were all so so comfortable - everyone raved about how well they slept. There were even the little things - all bathrooms started off w TP, there were spices/S&P/oil/coffee/filters etc. Upon our arrival Seamus was able to remote let me into the house since we arrived about 30’mins before check in. It was such an easy process. There was plenty of fridge space (2 upstairs and 2 close to the pool in the game room - key for afternoon pool floats). There were ample pool toys/beach chairs and boogie boards in excellent condition. We loved being able to walk right over the dune to the beach - we also drove around but it helped w the little ones and bathroom runs!! I loved that the upper decks (front and back) didn’t have stairs so our young ones could be outside without worrying they’d fall down the stairs!We will absolutely return next year! Dreams end is just that - an absolute Dream! Thank you!!!

Wonderful vacation!

We enjoyed staying on the beach. It was easy to drive our vehicle onto the beach and made bringing all of our gear easier. The views of the sunrise and sunset were unbelievable. Everyone loved watching the horses walk around the beach. The pool was perfect. It was a great alternative to the beach. We loved how well stocked the kitchen was. There was everything we needed to make all of our meals. The owners were quick to answer any questions that we had. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and family!

Family Vacation

First time in Corolla, a little unsure about driving on the beach. It was a blast, just air down tires to around 20 lbs. Driving up the dunes to the house was no problem. House was everything they advertised. Pool and hot tube were used every day. My grandkids lived in the ocean, learned how to bodysurf and ride a skim board. We had four refrigerators, two upstairs and two down. Horses came by the house on three or four occasions at dusk or early morning. Plenty of beach chairs and pool toys. Outdoor grill worked great. Overall a great experience.

Exactly what we needed

The house and location were perfect for what we needed for a family gathering. The peacefulness of the area gave us time to remember our father/grandfather who we hadn’t had time to fully grieve together! The owner was beyond responsive and understanding to all of our needs. We all highly recommend this property.

Our new yearly trip

On a whim we decided to pick a new vacation spot after going to the beach in the north east. I can honestly tell you our stay here was amazing. The house was perfect and our children had the time of their lives. They are already asking to go back and we are in the car ride home. We couldn’t be more thankful to Seamus and family for sharing their home with us. It was amazing.

A new and very pleasant beach week

Our group has stayed at many a different oceanfront house. Dreams End was overall a wonderful new addition to our beach experiences. First, the house was very nicely appointed with all the comforts we expected. The decks offered breathtaking views of the both the ocean and of wild horses!!! The host was very attentive to all our questions and provided lots of clear information about the house and location. The pool and hot tub were used a lot as well as the grills for our group dinners. While we all had 4WD or AWD vehicles with no one getting stuck in the sand, the beach driving back and forth from Corolla was a bit stressful for a few of our group since we had never stayed at a beach vacation house that wasn't off of pavement. The coming and going traffic on the beach was also something we were not used to seeing. But it certainly did not stop us from enjoying the ocean at all. Overall, a very lovely week at Dreams End. Thank you, Seamus!

Family beach trip

We loved the house and location of the house . Our family was so excited to get to the house and was a little surprised when we had to drive 4 miles on the beach but it was fun . We love the privacy of the house and the beach . The house was clean , beautiful and close to beach. Thanks for an awesome chance for the experience . We all got a lot of memories on this trip. We are Seamus and Melinda McGowan, owners of Dream's End. We currently live in the Dallas, Texas area. We have three daughters and three granddaughters, and a grandson. Our youngest daughter, Caiti, often assists us with communicating with our guests at Dream’s End. Prior to living in Texas, we lived in Oregon, and in Virginia. Melinda was born and raised in Newport News, VA and she grew up taking summer vacations in the OBX. We still love to take trips to enjoy these beautiful beaches.

Varför vÀrden valde detta boende

Over the years, we have taken many trips out to the OBX, but typically within the Nags Head/Kill Devil Hills area. When looking for potential vacation rentals, we came across this one in an area we were not as familiar with, 4x4 Corolla. Hesitant at first, we drove down the sand admiring the soft waves to our right. The view from Dream’s End is one that we had only seen in our dreams! The peace and serenity that comes along with this area is unmatched, making us fall in love with it. We are very excited for this opportunity and are looking forward to ensuring that our guests have wonderful experiences at Dream's End

Dream's End is located in Carova's unique 4x4 area where the wild horses roam. Carova is an eleven mile stretch of beach that begins at the northern terminus of NC Route 12 and extends to the North Carolina/Virginia state line. The name Carova is actually a contraction of Carolina and Virginia. Carova is subdivided into beaches, one of which is Swan Beach where Dream's End is located.


The views from this house are breathtaking! Take a short walk over the dune and you are at the beach, or sit on the deck and watch the dolphins jumping out of the waves. You may even see a whale spouting a stream of water as he swims by. Thunderstorms are exceptional at the beach with lightning brightening up the dark night skies. On a clear night you can sit in the hot tub and gaze at endless stars. If you are an early riser, sip your coffee while watching the sunrise from the front deck. In the evening enjoy the incredible sunsets from the back deck.


The wild horses come by nearly every day to snack on the grasses growing around the house. There are times when you see them racing across the dunes, or out by the water’s edge. This area isn't for the faint of heart though. There aren't any paved roads or sidewalks in the 4wd area called Carova. It is a wild and free area. The highway is the beach. Sand roads lead to the cottages. Your vacation here will be an experience like no other. Rejuvenate, relax and renew at Dream's End. Staying in the 4wd area should be on everyone's Bucket List!!
