Come and live like the locals! Located steps away from Downtown Murphys, we welcome you to our cute little spot that is perfect for the vacationing pair to enjoy all that Murphys has to offer. Just mere steps from the home of over 22 wine tasting rooms, restaurants and shops, we are also located approx. 30 minutes away from beautiful Big Trees National Park, home to the largest living trees - the giant sequoias. Bear Valley Ski Resort is less than an hour away offering the perfect setting for the adventurer. Nearby Stanislaus River, Utica Lake, Union Lake, Spicer Reservoir and New Melones Lake offer fishing, hiking, swimming, boating or a picnic!

Begin and end your perfect, carefree retreat away from the day to day norms and "ughs" of the fast paced way of life!

We had a wonderful stay at the Hillbilly Hideaway. The place was modern and well appointed, it was also very clean. The bed was only queen size but it was extremely comfortable, and we slept well both nights we were there. There was an air conditioner and fans. My wife loved the shower and how nicely it was designed. The place is a very short walk to downtown and the Murphy Hotel. Our host was friendly and accommodating. We would stay here again if we came back to stay in Murphy’s. Thanks!

Awesome place to stay!

I love staying in this VRBO. It is clean and cozy. The location to Main Street is a short 5 minute walk. Adam and Breanna are great hosts!

Great place in an ideal location!

This is the perfect spot for a couple. It’s in walking distance to Main St. in Murphy’s and is detached from the main home, so feels very private. Extremely clean, comfortable and very well-appointed. The hosts were also super responsive and accommodating. We’d definitely book again.

Great stay!

We had a great time at the Hillbilly Hideaway. The place was clean, comfortable, and perfect for 2 people. Our favorite bakery and tasting rooms were just a short walk away! Breanna and Adam were kind hosts and easily available if we needed anything.

Enjoyed the Fall colors!

Short road trip to hike and enjoy the Fall colors and cooler temps! Murphys and other old gold rush towns within a short drive made it a very interesting and enjoyable stay. Great food and beer options within easy walking distance.

Amazing property

This home away from home is so perfect! Breanna and Adam were just the best hosts. The accommodations were clean, and our every need was met. The kitchen is stocked with every amenity you need, the bed was so comfortable. One of the best VBRO's I've ever stayed in.

Murphys Getaway

This cute little cottage is perfect for a couples getaway. We were able to walk down to Main Street in Murphys and was just a short drive up Highway 4 to enjoy the snow. The Hillbilly Hideaway was clean, had easy access coming and going, and the bed was absolutely amazing! It was nicely redone and plenty of room for 2.Thanks for sharing this special place with us!

.from the listing we did not know it was a garage conversion and owners living on property so close. The place had great finishes, very well decorated, comfy bed and very clean! Not very private and during the day their dog barked continuously. Overall it was a good experience and we really enjoyed the town and surrounding area!!!

Perfect spot for out Murphys weekend!

Overall excellent stay and would book again! It fit our needs perfectly! The location is excellent and we took advantage of walking to most places we went. It was tidy and clean when we arrived and had all the comforts you might expect. We came to town for a wedding and needed to hang some formal clothing and while there isn't a dresser or closet in the space, they quickly provided several hangers upon request. AC + fans worked great and the shower was nice. Lovely town, lovely space, lovely hosts only suggestion would be a full length mirror.

The Cutest Hideaway!

We came into town to attend a concert at Ironstone amphitheater. We randomly chose this property, and we were not disappointed! It is conveniently, located a quick walk from lots of shops, food, and wine tasting. It is super super cute with plenty of space for two people. We didn’t need to utilize the kitchen, but it was nice to have the option if we needed it. It’s decorated adorably, the bed was comfortable, and the owners were kind. We were a little worried that it was somebody’s side house, but ultimately it was just like having our own space and wasn’t a problem at all. Would definitely stay again! We ate dinner at El Jardin near by and it was delicious!

Charming getaway

The Hillbilly Hideaway is a lovely spot for a couple get-away in Murphy's. Breanna and Adam created a charming, cottage-like atmosphere- from the nice decor to the plush towels. Very quiet street and easy walking distance to town. Be mindful if you have a sensitive sense of smell......I don't but my husband does and he could smell gasoline/oil as the room was converted from the garage. We opened the windows and it aired out nicely. Overall we loved our stay and I am sure you will too!

Nice cozy place

Overall it was a nice little getaway spot, very clean and semi-private. Upon arrival we had a hard time getting into the property. I texted the owner and didn’t hear back. We finally were able to get in after multiple attempts. They did advertise a bbq however there was no propane with it. Also the internet was out for quite some time the second day we were there. Eventually coming back on later in the evening. The kitchen lacked a few basic essentials to use the oven. Other than that it was a great location, very close to downtown Murphy’s.

The Perfect Getaway

The property was perfect for a romantic getaway with my wife. The rental house was completely separate from the main house, which was nice and it had its own reserved parking in the driveway that easily fit my large truck. The rental unit appeared to be new, was very clean, and was furnished very nicely. It was only a few minute walk from downtown, which made wine tasting and dinners very easy. Highly recommend and we will back. If I had to give a critique, it would be about a small dog the owners have in their residence/separate yard that would bark when we came or left. It would only lasted a few minutes so it didn’t bother us, but I know there are others that may be more sensitive.

Lovely Quiet Getaway

There was obvious great care in putting this property together with lovely thoughtful touches. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom is a showstopper. The plush large bath sheets were a major bonus. It felt very new and very clean. Kitchen had the few things we needed (except bowls - but the coffee cups were large so we made do). Imagine there are tweaks coming as they continue to rent this out. Suggestions would be a coffee table so there is somewhere to set down a wine glass while sitting on the couch and a different kitchen table/chairs. We ended up using the outside table more as the chairs were more comfortable/didn't rock too far back, the surface was solid and it was stable. There are only a few hooks around the house and a folding luggage rack so pack in something that is easy to live out of. For a quick stay it's not an issue but if we were there longer, it might have been. Location was fantastic. A large, boisterous gathering was happening downtown so we were thankfully away from that. But it is a quick easy walk to everything. This is in a renovated section of the host's garage but we rarely heard them. All in all a lovely stay!

What an adorable little spot and perfect to walk downtown. The hosts were also very responsive and able to answer any questions. If you are looking for a location close to downtown you can’t go wrong. So much nicer than a hotel and very clean.
