Welcome to Villa Kuro by Fieldtrip.

Designed with tranquility and relaxation in mind, Villa Kuro is a minimal organic modern hideaway fusing natural simplicity with contemporary luxuries. Nestled on an unfenced 3.6 acres in front of a boulder hill, the property goes all the way up to the peak of the mountain. At night, the firepit and salt water hot tub offer an unparalleled stargazing experience.

Villa Kuro is intended for slow living, providing an escape from the noise and stress of urban life. The home sits at the end of a very small and peaceful residential neighborhood in south Joshua Tree. It's great for those seeking a still quiet, but not completely isolated location from civilization.

Originally built in the 1960's, this midcentury ranch style house has been lovingly transformed into a unique desert hideaway. The two bed two bath home comfortably sleeps four. Inspired by its desert surroundings and the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi (finding beauty in imperfection), many elements of the home utilized hand-built techniques and the use of natural and reclaimed materials to bring out the subtleties in texture and light. Large sliding glass doors in all the living areas and bedrooms provide a connection to the outdoors at every turn. Furnished with a mix of new and antique finds collected through the years, the pared-back décor and neutral color palette provide the ideal setting for you to recharge.

With multiple outdoor living areas, including a covered patio for outdoor dining, and a private 600 square foot rock and cactus garden courtyard, there's no shortage of space for lounging around. We're lucky to get an abundance of flora and fauna by the boulders so you're likely to spot jackrabbits, quails, roadrunners and other wildlife on a daily basis. Really feel a connection to nature by showering outdoors under the open desert sky, relaxing in the salt water hot tub after a long hike, or enjoying the firepit with loved ones on a starry night.

Villa Kuro has been featured in more than two dozen architectural magazines and publishers worldwide, including Dwell, ELLE Decor, ELLE Decor Italy, ELLE Decor Spain, Vogue Paris, Architectural Digest Mexico, Modern Decoration China, RUE mag, Dezeen, and many more. In addition, the home has been published in three books, "World's Best - 50 Interiors From Around The Globe (2023)", "A HOME AWAY FROM HOME - Exceptional Houses for Discerning Travelers (2022)” and "House Stories: Old vs New (2022)”. Several campaigns have also been shot at Villa Kuro such as Crate & Barrel, Lulu & Georgia, Parachute, KonMari by Marie Kondo, McGee & Co., ALO Yoga, Huckberry and more.
