Enjoy a true mountain cabin lifestyle and getaway, within walking distance to Mirror Lake and Lake Sequoia and minutes to downtown Highlands.

We love dogs, so we offer your first dog stays free (contact us if you have a 2nd dog for a nominal extra charge - maximum of 2 well behaved dogs). We do ask that dogs stay off beds.

This perfect mountain cabin offers an upscale fully appointed kitchen, sure to delight gourmet chefs, cocktail experts, and appetites. Your kitchen opens to a lovely dining room, which leads to the soaring two story great room, with tongue and groove ceilings and a rustic stone fireplace for those cool Highlands nights. From the great room, step out onto the newly expanded deck with enough room for grilling and dining, as well as a cozy conversation area with a gas fire pit for relaxing with coffee, or a cocktail! A spacious master bedroom with a king size bed, and a fully stocked modern ensuite bathroom, leads to another walkout to the deck. A beautiful second bedroom with a queen size bed and its own nearby full bath, insure the comfort of the main level. The second level adds a large bonus room, queen bed and full bath. Enjoy the 70 inch smart TV which offers over 85 channels on YouTube TV, sports packages, Disney+, and movies galore! This loft is open to the great room and is perfect for an additional living area, sleeping area, and an in-home office if needed. Your perfect mountain getaway is located in the desirable Mirror Lake R2 district, within city limits, and only a few short minutes to bustling Main Street in Highlands. Enjoy strolling and eating your way through this quaint neighborhood or grab your fishing pole or canoe and enjoy the serenity of two nearby lakes and the many waterfalls of the Plateau.

Your Privacy and Protection is Important to us! Free Wi-Fi is encrypted and requires a passcode (found in our Cabin Information Book). We do not distribute or sell ANY of your personal information. We have Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarms on each floor, CO2 Detector, Water Detector, Home Security System with only external camera on the Parking Area, and the Door Entry Lock pin changes immediately with each guest. Our Professional Housekeeper is a stickler for sanitation!

This was the perfect place for my husband and I to stay during a vacation in Highlands! The cabin was clean and located in a beautiful neighborhood. We were within 15 minutes of the hikes that we wanted to do and we were within 5 minutes of downtown Highlands, so the location was very convenient! We loved sitting on the back porch amidst the trees in the afternoons. The host responded quickly when I had a question about check out. We would definitely love to stay here again when we visit Highlands in the future!

Girlfriend Getaway

We enjoyed our stay very much. It was very comfortable and offered anything you could possibly need. The beds were beyond comfortable. The area was very quiet, which was nice. I would recommend this charming cottage to anyone going to Highlands.

Wonderful house

We had a wonderful stay at the red top treehouse. Love the mirror lake area and the house had everything we needed. The host were very easy to communicate with. We will be back!

Terrific Time At the Red Roof Cabin

This is a great cabin conveniently located to everything around Highlands. It was absolutely the best stocked VRBO rental I’ve ever stayed at. Everything you might need while staying has been thought of and provided in the cabin. We had a terrific week and can’t recommend the Red Roof Cabin highly enough.

Perfect getaway!

Our stay at Red Top Treehouse was amazing. The property was everything described and more. Fully stocked, comfortable and very well maintained. The neighborhood was well located and wonderfully quiet. It will be our first choice when we return!

Honeymoon Stay

Perfect getaway for our honeymoon. The cabin was extremely clean and very spacious. The kitchen was well stocked and the bathrooms had plenty of towels and toiletries. Loved that it was so close to the town of Highlands. The owners made check-in very easy and gave us their phone numbers in case we needed to contact them, which we did not. We would definitely recommend this great cabin.

Amazing!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay. Joanne was fabulous and very responsive. The house was perfect for our week away and while it felt remote, it was only a few minutes from town. And the town of Highlands is magical. We loved every minute of it.

Wonderful place to stay!

Cute, clean cabin had lots of space & kitchen was well stocked. Fire place & outdoor fire pit were nice as it was cool at night. Bedding was the softest & king sized bed was comfortable. The road to get to the cabin was a little dicey in my husband’s big truck and you would need a truck or at the least all wheel drive in the winter time to get to the cabin. It was overall a wonderful place to stay & will def. keep in mind if we come back! Love the area!

Location! Location! Location!

Red Top Treehouse Cabin had everything we needed plus a great location! The tree top views from the back deck were a great way to start and end each day. We really felt like we were in the mountains but could get to downtown in minutes. Our group saw one bear (thankfully from inside our car) and several deer. We loved walking the sweet mountain roads in this neighborhood. The roads are steep and narrow so bring a car suited for this type of driving - we thought is added to the adventure! The hosts were very easy to communicate with and pompt to respond.

Fabulous cottage

Everything literally from soup to nuts was provided by the hosts. We wanted quiet and relaxing which is exactly what we got. Cabin is professionally decorated, spacious, extremely clean and comfortable. The only drawback for us was accessing the location which proved stressful since it is physically too difficult for us to back up if necessary on a narrow, steep, winding one lane road. Other than than the roads, we would not hesitate to book again. By far, the best Vrbo we ever stayed in.

Everything You’ll Want and Need

If you’ll looking for a place with a majestic site, warmth, comfort, and peacefulness just minutes away from Highland Downtown and the Cullasaja River then is the place. As we made our way through the winding roads I couldn’t help but wonder what gem laid at the end of this journey. Oh and what a treat it was, simply the best. This spacious 2 bedroom with loft, deck and a fully ready to use kitchen with wine cooler will have everything you’ll need. I’m glad we found this gem and can’t wait to return.

Perfect little getaway!

First off, this property was one of the cleanest we have stayed in & we book w/VRBO a couple times a year. Joann also made sure it was well stocked in every aspect. The house itself is beautifully decorated & quite spacious. The kitchen has everything you need if you’d like to stay in & cook. There’s also a grill on the back patio if you’d like to do that. The back patio is big with two different seating areas overlooking the woods, it was nice and very quiet. Downtown Highlands was a little bit more than 5 minutes away so we went twice & hiked Glen Falls. We hope to come back again and stay at this property! Highly recommend!

Awesome experience

Very tastefully equipped cabin. Plenty of room for the four of us on our 30th anniversary getaway. Just the right amount of wood accents - we didn’t feel like we were living in a pine box for 10 days. Tons of hiking in the area. Very large TV upstairs - nice touch. Highlands is a bit pricey, but the people in the area were friendly. Gotta go slow driving into the neighborhood - one lane in some places, so that was a little different, especially after the snowfall (and ice packing). Very well equipped kitchen, which we used quite a bit. Cabin was well insulated (9 degrees one night) plus the gas fireplace (vented) was nice. We would stay here again.

Comfortable, quiet, secluded with all we needed

We enjoyed the cool weather while sitting on the beautiful deck in the tree house. The kitchen was well stocked as mentioned and we left a few items as others did for us, oil, milk, butter, etc. it is very close to On the Veranda restaurant so we loved our meal there. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your comfortable Vrbo. The light switch on right of M bedroom needs a new switch and we appreciated the washer and dryer for a quick wash of clothes. It rained a couple of times briefly and that kept things cool. Your attention to detailed info in binder was excellent!! Thank you again!

mountain getaway

this was a super cute cabin, and yes its in a windy road neighborhood, which is a small one way road. So you might have to back up to let someone else go by, if you have a really big car could be an issue if trying to park also. The cabin was like in the trees which I love, however the lighting in the cabin is not sufficient for the darkness of all the trees. But if you normally like low lighting, it would be fine. There was a very small TV on the main floor, too small and we had to go upstairs to watch the bigger TV, and my focus was to be on one level, stairs are a little sketchy/steep no handrail.

Cannot say enough about this wonderful home. It has everything to make a vacation comfortable and easy. The well-equipped kitchen makes cooking and good coffee (a priority in my house) easy.And the views of the mountains from the deck are amazing! Downtown Highlands is at most 10 minutes. We will be back!

This was a wonderful cabin for our 4 day stay in the mountains. We had everything that we needed and felt like we were home with all of the comforts! The neighborhood was perfect for walking our dogs and we were close to everything. It was beautifully furnished, comfortable beds, and the kitchen was well equipped. We will definitely choose this cabin when we visit again!

We loved our stay at the Red Top Treehouse! It was the perfect mountain getaway, peaceful, beautiful, and so well thought out. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need, making it easy to cook and enjoy dinner on the deck. The entire place was spotless and welcoming, and our host, Joann, was friendly, responsive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this little slice of mountain heaven!

We purchased this home in 2020 after falling in love with The Highlands and especially the adorable Mirror Lake District. We have added many improvements for year-round use like central heating and air conditioning (not common in many cabins in the mountains), Gas Log push-button fireplace, new landscaping, and expanded private parking for 3 cars.
