Awesome trip!

We loved staying here! The kitchen is well stocked. Lots of over the door hangers for towels and suits. Super short walk to the beach!

Excellent Location

Perfect location with the beach steps from the door. Beach location was much prettier than and less busy than Galveston area. Loved being able to travel into Galveston during the day and relax at night on Surfside Beach. Great home for a large family. Host was very accommodating to rescheduling our family when my husband was hospitalized the day of our original date.

Great stay at Surfside!

This home was a great place for us to vacation! Quick walk to the beach, nice living space, and comfortable beds. We appreciated the 4 bedroom, 2 full bath layout.

Beach get away

We enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Very nice ocean views. Short walk to the beach, which was convenient. Only draw back was the bed in the last bedroom. The queen size bed was broken down in the middle. When my husband got in we both rolled to the center of the bed. That bed needs to be replaced, very uncomfortable. Everyone else slept well on the other beds.

I had a good experience with Second Wind. The host addressed my questions and concerns in a prompt and professional manner. In my opinion, Second Wind provides excellent affordability and value as compared to other beach houses in the area.

Good not great

Pros : Nice and close to the beach. Owners were very responsive and check in was simple. House is a nice setup, lots of room and plenty of beds and was pretty clean. Kitchen was nice, great counters and lots of gadgets and stuff (more about this in the cons) Cons : no real cleaning products (windex, chlorox wipes, vacuum) it made it hard to keep the property clean while we were there. Virtually all of the utensils and plates and bowls were a little dirty and had to be washed prior to using. It had like 4 coffee makers, but was missing some other useful items, like a skillet or crock pot. Other than the kitchen the house is pretty dated. Beach toys are old and brittle, but the kids spent hours using them, so they served their purpose. Mosquitoes are a serious problem, but that is going to be an issue anywhere in Surfside. We kept track and the average person had 25 bites....lol. Jelleyfush were abundant one day at the beach, and I got stung, which was not fun, but again not an issue with the house, just fyi. TV was very small, but we weren't there to watch tv. We all has fun and overall this was a good place to stay, but not great. A few minor changes could push it to the great level.

Pretty good place!

The house was clean and had most things you need in the kitchen to cook. Super close to the beach, check in was easy. The bathrooms are not huge and the rooms do not have room darkening curtains, be aware for kiddos. I was worried about the mattresses, but we slept okay. There were lots of beach toys for the kids to use and some books & toys inside. Overall a good find that fit our needs for a long weekend getaway.

Wonder Home and Owners

Second Wind is an awesome home and so close to the beach we could walk back and forth, which was great for bathroom breaks and meals, without having to pack everything up! It is very well provisioned with anything you could possibly need. There were 6 adults, 5 little ones (ages 4-9) in our group and there was plenty room for us. We would love to stay there again some day. Ashley and Eric are awesome to work with and quickly responded to all questions and concerns before and during our stay.

Family Vacation at Second Wind

There was plenty of room for all 12 of us. Quick walk to the beach with ocean views from the deck. Quiet area and the beach wasn't over crowded. The house was well stocked with everything we needed in the kitchen. There was plenty of linens and towels. Everyone said their beds were comfortable and they rested well. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

Great location and easy beach access

The home is a bit older, but the property was clean and super close (easy walking distance) to the beach. Our only complaint is the mattresses are a bit worn and uncomfortable for old backs, but we’ve come to expect that in most rentals. Overall, we had a great stay and enjoyed the beach.

Family vacation

The property was everything it was advertised as. Location was perfect. Easy access to the beach. Bedrooms were a bit small but we were only in those to sleep in. Otherwise plenty of room. Recommended!

Horrible

House was not what was expected. Grill was broken. Outside was poorly kept. Beach toys/items that were advertised were just a small pile of broken items. Mosquitoes were insane. Was literally told by owner/property manager that they usually warn guests about mosquitoes but since their previous guest didn’t say anything they didn’t mention it to us. This was after I made clear that I had a newborn. So information like that is a must. I live in east Texas so we are used to outdoors but this was insane and definitely not fit for an infant. They found no understanding in this whatsoever. I would recommend absolutely no one to this location.

Fun and relaxing stay.

The property was great. Great location. It had rained so we had to wade through some water on the trail to the beach. Would stay again but never on a Holiday weekend. Traffic was beyond belief. 40 minutes to get the last 6 miles to the house. Beach was over crowded. It was in second row of houses so able to sit on deck and see and hear the water when we were tired of dealing with people.

Nice house with short path to the beach. Only had one question, but property managers reached out and were accessible via email. Loved it and we would stay again. The only thing that could’ve been better was the weather!

Clean home

This house is cozy, clean, and kid friendly. One nice feature is the outdoor shower has hot water. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach. The beach is a drive-on beach so we had to watch out for cars since we have small kids. We had a great time. The management team is helpful and responsive. Thank you for a great vacation.

Amazing time with family

This property was exactly as described. Clean, plenty of space and well stocked. The owner was very responsive. My family really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect as well. I would recommend this property.

Great location, view of the ocean and steps from the beach

First time to stay in Surfside and this property did not disappoint. Two families with children under 5. View of the ocean and steps from a path to the beach. Lots of beach toys to use and having 4 bedrooms was a plus. The beach in front of the house is permit only, so plan to purchase a $12 permit if you want to drive your car on the beach. Also, plan to bring your own drinking water. Great hostess & location and very clean.

Short getaway

Property was very clean and spacious. We loved the outdoor shower and abundance of beach toys. Plenty of movies and books to choose from for those rainy days and or late nights. We stayed during the week and the town is relatively quiet which was exactly what we needed. The house is footsteps away from the beach and we would definitely stay here again.
