Downtown Harpers Ferry! Charming Historic House in Harpers Ferry National Park!

We have been vacation rental owners in Harpers Ferry since 2009 (see VRBO 265656), and are committed to ensuring that our guests enjoy a comfortable and truly unique stay in one of the most historic and charming towns on the East Coast.

We acquired this charming new (200 year old!) house and spent 2020 completing renovations. Like our other downtown Harpers Ferry vacation rental, this 200 year old home is located in the heart of downtown Harpers Ferry and on top of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. Restaurants, shops, hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail,) museums, and shops are quite literally feet away.

The front door of the house is off of the front porch at the top of the stairs (see pictures). Hang out on the front porch and enjoy the beautiful mountain views and the activity in town below you, or enter through the front door into a charming living room. Off of the living room you will find a fully-equipped eat-in kitchen with dining table for 6 plus 3 countertop stools and a half bath. Head up the stairs to the second floor where you will find 2 bright bedrooms (both with awesome views!), a full bath, and a super-cozy TV room. Exit out to the back patio from the TV room, and wander up the hill in the back yard to find an absolutely spectacular view of the Harpers Ferry Gap!

This truly is a one-of-a-kind house in an amazing location. OH...It also comes with a parking space (a HUGE bonus in Harpers Ferry!!). Please note that the parking space is located on Potomac Street, and you must climb 65 steps up to High Street where the house is located. Luggage drop-off is permitted any time except Saturday and Sunday between 11AM and 5PM. Also, please note that the stairs in this house are very steep! Please keep this in mind if you have trouble with stairs!

Incredibly charming home in the perfect location. Me, my husband, and small dog spent hours on the deck, people watching, admiring the butterflies and the scenery, and drinking local wine from the cute store across the street. Just a minute's walk to restaurants and a cafe, with an amazing ice cream shop down the steps. The house was clean and the beds were super comfortable. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed the charm and proximity to the quaint town of Harper's Ferry. We had everything we needed for a weekend with 3 friends and could walk to the shops and restaurants. We appreciated that Jill had the kitchen stocked with cookware and appliances as well as towels and sheets/blankets for everyone.

Amazing location in a historic house, exactly as pictured. The host was responsive and helpful. Be sure to bring your own supplies because shopping is very limited in the town.

Beautiful old home in the heart of Harper’s Ferry. Location cannot be beat. Outstanding views of the rivers from the backyard. The steps, inside and out, are no joke. And the AC only works well in one bedroom. But, all in all. We would go back. Very responsive hosts!

Historic charm in an unbeatable location

This house is on high street right in the middle of Harper’s Ferry, the location is just unbelievable. We so enjoyed the front porch that we cancelled all our dinner plans and stayed in! We especially enjoyed getting to enjoy the quiet hours when everyone went home for the day. The house is full of old charm. The kitchen and dining room area is wonderful with a nice size dining table. The kitchen is well appointed with nice appliances. The beds are comfortable. The house is very clean with plenty of linens. The parking spot is a major plus as the public parking lot was completely full when we arrived. The host is very responsive. The house is close to the train station so would recommend bringing ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Would 100% recommend this house to anyone who wants to experience historic Harper’s Ferry!.

Heart of Harpers Ferry

The house is a wonderful historic home, built in 1853, within walking distance of Harpers Ferry's attractions. Plentiful towels, a well-stocked kitchen, and fans in the bedrooms (which also help cover the sounds of the trains at night) are big pluses.

Harper’s Ferry Getaway

Great location to hiking trails and Harper’s Ferry National Park, shops, and restaurants. Charming, cozy house with a great sense of history, complete with wonky angles and creaky floorboards. Gas fireplace is a nice bonus.

Valentine's Day/Winter Vacation

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed staying in Harper's Ferry. It is a beautiful historic town with many sights to see. This house made it very convenient to have quick access to everything. It was especially useful for time management. We were able to complete our full itinerary that we had planned in advance.

Fall Getaway

This property could not have been more quaint and peaceful. My husband, two dogs and I enjoyed the long weekend, walking the trails and taking in the history of Harper’s Ferry. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet getaway. The location could not be better for seeing the town on foot. The property was clean and so neatly appointed. Breathtaking views!

Bring Earplugs

If you are a lite sleeper, this property may not be for you. There's a train station about 300 feet from the property with cargo and commuter trains running around the clock. Sounds from the squeaky breaks and train horns reverberate through the residence. Other than that, the property is okay. It could use some maintenance though. The water on/off valves in the shower just spin, so it's hard to get a good temperature and even harder to figure out how to shut the water off. The doors to both bathrooms stick and have to be manhandled to open/close. And the door to the bedroom closest to the upstairs bathroom won't completely close at all. I liked the location, but I really didn't like the noise.

Great Location w/ Taste of History

Very cool to stay in the historic district! Awesome to sit on the porch on a busy afternoon & watch people go by and then have the town all to ourselves when the day-trippers leave! And I loved the big, comfy couch in the upstairs TV room! When deciding whether or not to stay here, you must keep in mind that the house is old and shows it.
