Downtown Harpers Ferry - I hjÀrtat av Harpers Ferry National Historical Park

Mountainside Lodge ligger i hjÀrtat av historiska centrum Harpers fÀrja, och i mitten av Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. LÄt dig inte luras av andra semesterbostÀder och B & B: s som pÄstÄr sig vara i Harpers Ferry nÀr de inte! Denna one-of-a-kind semesterboende ligger i ett 2-1 / 2 berÀttelse tegel federal-period byggnad frÄn 1830-talet, och renoverades 2004-2005. Huset delar byggnad med en familj-stil restaurang (Potomac galler). Huset var ursprungligen 2 radhus, och mitt vÀggarna togs bort pÄ 1970-talet för att skapa en stor öppen yta pÄ 1: a vÄningen. Medan husets utvÀndig mÄlning system Äterspeglar denna ursprungliga konfiguration och ser ut som tvÄ separata enheter, spÀnner över semesterboende bÄda utrymmena (se bilden). Byggnaden anvÀndes under inbördeskriget av bÄde Confederate och unionsarméerna, i första hand som en sjukstuga / sjukhus, och Àr ett stopp pÄ Harpers Ferry Ghost Tour.

Den första vÄningen av huset finns en stor öppen vardagsrum / matsal, ett fullt modernt kök, 1/2 bad, och en stor veranda med fantastiska berg och utsikt över floden och utsikt över Harpers Ferry gap. Insidan utrymmet har hÄrt trÀgolv, tegelvÀggar, en exponerad balk tak (mÄnga av balkar Àr ursprungliga hand-huggen), och stora fönster med utsikt över bergen och floden Potomac. Det finns en TV, DVD-spelare, video, spel och leksaker, och en 10-plats matbord pÄ 1: a vÄningen. En barnstol finns tillgÀnglig pÄ begÀran. Förutom moderna bekvÀmligheter, Àr huset inrett i fantastiska perioden antikviteter.

Den andra vÄningen har 3 sovrum, 2 badrum och en tvÀttstuga w / fullstor tvÀttmaskin och torktumlare, och erbjuder utsikt över floden Potomac. Det stora sovrummet har en drottning sÀng och en bekvÀm full storlek futon (bekvÀmt för 1 vuxen eller 2 barn). Det andra sovrummet har en drottning sÀng, och den 3: e sovrummet har en / full twin vÄningssÀng (tvÄ pÄ topp, fullt pÄ botten). Konfigurationen Àr perfekt för tvÄ familjer (4 vuxna och upp till 5 barn), 2-3 par, eller 6-7 vÀnner! Alla tre sovrummen har TV och DVD-spelare och bekvÀma lakan, madrasser och kuddar.

Byggnaden ligger ovanpÄ en brant backe, och det finns 65 trappor som leder ner till 2 parkeringsplatser reserverade för semester i den bakre delen av byggnaden. Den frÀmre dörr till huset Àr pÄ gatunivÄ, sÄ dörr till dörr lÀmning av bagage Àr möjligt.

Historic home in great location

Perfectly located historic home with well appointed kitchen and comfortable beds. Walking distance to many historical sites, good food and a few shops. Would definitely stay here again!

The age of the home and location are the charm of this house. We enjoyed the over all stay. However, be aware that the water flow is poor and down to a drip at times. The washer has what we guessed was mineral buildup (possibly the cause of the pressure?) That in turn, is transferred to the dryer. We also had a small snake visit us in the down stairs sitting room.

Unique and wonderful

There could be no better place to stay in Harper’s Ferry. This house from the 1800’s is fascinating in architecture and decor of that period. You could spend a day looking at the pictures and antiques. It overlooks the train station, rivers, and town with a great balcony with views of all. A very good restaurant is below and a similar bakery next door.Step out the front door and visit local shops, the historical sites, or walk the trails along the river.Truly an incredibly unique place to stay. Will be back.

The basics - clean, comfortable beds, well supplied with necessities, and excellent location.Phone and internet service and water pressure in the showers could have been better.How we felt about the stay - Absolutely loved staying in town. The house felt warm and welcoming from the time we opened the door. Without a doubt, this house had more “personality” than anywhere I’ve ever stayed! We loved sitting on the deck and started our mornings with breakfast there. The restaurant and trains just became part of the experience rather than annoyances. Being within easy walking distance of the historic exhibits as well as walking trails was great. Jill was a wonderful host. She responded quickly to all our questions to make sure our visit went smoothly.Loved every minute of the stay and look forward to coming back.

We had such a great family vacation in Harpers Ferry! The Mountainside Lodge was a beautiful historic home that had such character and it's location allowed us to walk to everything. Our family loved the beautiful view of the mountains and train from the lovely deck of the home! (We all just love trains so it was so ideal for our family to stay here!) The Rabbit Hole restaurant was right below and had really good food and drink! Jill was a wonderful host and answered all our questions. We had a very easy time checking in and the free parking was wonderful to have. The large living room area and comfy leather couches were so nice to come back to after full days visiting the historic sites, shopping and hiking. There's a nice sized kitchen that had everything we needed. The bedrooms accommodated all 7 of us adults and the beds were very comfortable. Thank you Jill for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home! We will be back!

Fabulous Trip in Harper’s Ferry

I loved everything about this trip. My family and I went for 2 nights to explore the town and do some hiking. The house was perfect, right in the center of town, clean, and fit right in with the whole feel of Harper’s Ferry. I highly recommend doing the ghost tour and hiking The Maryland Heights trail.

Location! While you will find many vacation homes with an address of 'Harpers Ferry', they are not actually IN historic downtown Harpers Ferry amongst the museums, natural beauty and history. But this one is!

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

This vacation rental is located in the heart of downtown historic Harpers Ferry and in the middle of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. It offers fantastic views, historic charm and significance, and prime location. It is amongst museums, shops & restaurants, steps from the Potomac & Shenandoah Rivers, the C&O canal towpath, Jefferson Rock, Virginius Island, the Appalachian Trail, Maryland Heights and Loudoun Heights. Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races is a short drive away, as are a number of Virginia Wineries and Harpers Ferry Brewing. There is a large porch that looks onto the mountains, the Potomac River, and Harpers Ferry gap. Kids (and train-loving grown-ups) love to watch the trains pass on the very active rail line and you can even ride the train to this destination, as it is in walking distance to the Harpers Ferry train station, which services both MARC and AMTRAK. The house is bicycle friendly (there is ample space inside to store bikes), and being within walking distance to the C&O canal towpath, is a perfect spot for towpath riders. There are fantastic hikes, from easy to strenuous, right outside the front door (no need to drive). The house offers an open floor plan perfect for larger gatherings, and the whole home is clean, nicely furnished and maintained. We strive for customer service and try to provide everything that a guest might need, including detergents and hand soaps, sugar, salt, pepper, basic spices, coffee filters, toilet paper, papertowels, napkins, etc., etc., etc. Our guests tell us over and over that this is the most well-stocked vacation rental that they have ever visited.
