Unplug from the craziness of the world with a stay in Bowers Beach. This 5 bedroom, 3.5 bath home can sleep up to 12 people per stay. 2,288 sqft of indoor space and two large decks will give your group plenty of space to relax during your visit. 360 degree water views allow for superb sunrise and sunsets. This home includes 1 queen bed, 3 full beds, and a set of twin bunkbeds. Large couch in the living room can fit an additional two folks comfortably. This home is within a 400' walk to the beach entrance, allowing for simple trips back and forth throughout your stay. House comes equipped with a Charcoal grill, beach chairs, and a few bikes to ride around town. Bowers is home to two bar/restaurants, a park/playground, several charter and party boats, as well as the Bowers maritime museum. 15 minute drive to Dover, the racetrack, Delaware Turf Sports Complex. 30 Minutes to dogfish head brewery, and 40 minutes to Rehoboth, Lewes and Dewey. Whether you stay in town or explore the local area, you will enjoy your stay at the Captain's Quarters.

This house is a really nice hidden gem in a hidden gem town. The house is equipped with all that you need to have a great time on vacation. Bikes, beach chairs, corn hole, kids sand toys, well stocked kitchen. This place is a gem!

what we needed

the property was clean, comfortable and had enough space and bathrooms for what we needed. location was super convenient. the second floor deck was perfect after a long day on the lacrosse field.

Easter with family

Second time around and it was the same as the first time wonderful!!!! Can not say anything negative about this property. Host communicates with you instantly. Quiet beach area

Was nice for our family - small children, small beach, very close - a lot of chairs and things to do. Not crowded for holiday weekend. a lot of open area for big family to hang out together.

Great location and house

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at this great home! It was steps to the beach and their recommendation for JP’s was also great. The beds were super comfortable. Lovely home with great communication from the owner! Only negative was the taste/ smell of the water but we just had bottled water and it wasn’t a problem at all.

Family vacation

We came with friends to spend our NYE here. It was nice and relaxing. The weather became nice enough to walk to the beach and see a beautiful sunset. The neighborhood was relatively quiet during our stay.

walking distance to beach. nice home. decks on both levels. owner put christmas tree up for us. responded quickly to questions. I can see it would be a great place to stay in the summer as well.

Great property and excellent value!

Captains Quarters is a great house with plenty of space for 10-12 people. We had 5 people so everyone got their own room. Close to the beach, one restaurant in the area but it was fantastic, great burgers and best ice cream ever! Similar houses in Rehoboth or Dewey cost 50% more so we enjoyed the same area for a much better value.

My family and I stayed at Captain Quarters from Thursday-Sunday for a college graduation. The house was clean. The Sean was easy to contact and reliable. Short walk to the beach . Shopping nearby. I will definitely be returning to this beautiful home

Family Vacation

Spent almost 2 weeks at Captain Quarters. Great time had by all! Bowers Beach had amazing 4th of July fireworks and we learned a lot about horseshoe crabs. Great location for visiting various locations like Philly, DC, Ocean City, Cape May, New Castle, Annapolis and Rehoboth just to name a few place we went. Sean was great and answered any questions we had quickly! If looking for a fun place to visit I would definitely recommend Captain Quarters!

Great place to stay for tournaments in Frederica

We stayed with 2 other families for a field hockey tournament. It was a short drive to the turf complex in Frederica. We were able to cook our meals instead of eating out, and had a comfortable place to rest when there were breaks. It was a close walk to the beach, though we only went for short times to walk since it was in April and cold outside. There were plenty of bedrooms and places for us to hang out where we weren't on top of each other. I would stay there again if we had another event to go to in the area.

Great for large groups, convenient to Dover

We stayed here while visiting a festival up at the Dover racetrack. It was an easy drive and let us hang on the beach in the day. We loved seeing all the wildlife including horseshoe crabs, jellyfish, periwinkle and even a sea turtle! The only negative was the water, which had a strong sulfur smell and was undrinkable. Even showers weren't fun. However this was disclosed and after buying a bunch of bottled water we were happy and would return in the future. Wonderful and responsive host. Thanks!

Great visit to a hidden gem

We had a great stay at Sean’s property in Bower’s Beach. It is a great location and incredibly quiet which we loved. Lots of open beach and missing the crazy crowds of more popular beaches down the coast. Sean is a great host and was incredibly responsive throughout the visit from before we checked in to after we checked out. I was pleasantly surprised at the floor plan of the house - it was a great setup for stays with multiple families as there are separate sections of the house with connected bathrooms. This makes it a great place for different families to have their own space while also taking advantage of the large open areas to hang out - two level back deck along with a large open kitchen/dining area.

Captain's Quarters

We had a fun stay at Captain's Quarters, rented the house with 5 adults and 5 teenagers playing in a lacrosse tourney at the DE Turf complex. House was huge, clean and Sean was super helpful. The beach was really close to house but not as nice as we would have hoped, more dirt than sand, lots of horse flies and water was a bit muddy/murky being on the bay - could have been a function of the tides. JP's Wharf was within walking distance and had great food and music/entertainment. We would definitely rent this house again - thanks Sean!

Spacious and Open

We celebrated a friend’s birthday by having a girls’ weekend at Captain’s Quarters. The house was well appointed and spacious. The rooms provided privacy for all of us and plenty of space to socialize. The home itself was a little dated with the usual wear and tear that exists in a beach property. The amenities were great! The bikes and beach chairs provided were wonderful and the private beach was a block away and peaceful. The only thing that we found to be wanting was the water in the home. It smelled very sulfuric which the owner did disclose that it may have a slight odor. It was more than slight but it was also in other places on Bower Beach such as the restaurant. Other than that we had a lovely stay!

Graduation Trip

We chose Captain’s Quarters for our family trip to attend our daughter’s graduation because of the size and location of the home. Approximately 10 of us were able to stay there comfortably and the area and location was close to all the activities we attended. Sean was great in allowing us to check in early and communication was excellent. His instructions were very clear and helpful in getting us settled in the first day and becoming familiar with the home. Like any home, there were some things that didn’t worked well. Upon check-in we had an ant issue in the kitchen area and the main bedroom. Also, it was tough to get over the odor of the water. Sean was very reactive in helping us take care of the ants quickly. Also, the bicycles were available to be used but they were not in working condition. I would recommend servicing of the bicycles if they are available for house guests. Deck furnitures and beach chairs need cleaning. Overall our stay was pleasant and peaceful. The neighbourhood is quiet and great for walking and easy access to the beach.
