Mermaid House är beläget på en lugn sidogata bara sju minuters promenad till berömda snorkling destination, Tunnels Beach. I vardagsrummet, banker skjutbara fönster öppna i flera kombinationer att dra nytta av passadvindarna och tropiska vindar. En kort 90 sekunders promenad tar dig till stranden vid Naue Point och när du svänger västerut du se spektakulära Makana (Bali Hai) och Na'Pali kusten.

En och en halv miles längre finner du på Kee 'Beach, känd för sina spektakulära solnedgångar. Detta är slutet av vägen på den norra stranden. Spåra dig fram genom sju en lane broar till pittoreska Hanalei stad och en gourmetmåltid, rakning is, eller en glimt av lokal färg på en Farmers 'Market med tropiska frukter och blommor av alla slag.

A true Hawaiian Experience

A great find! A house that defines “Charachter” and a true Hawaiian experience. We found our stay very comfortable and loved being so far North in this jungle oasis.

Perfect!!!

This home is in a beautiful place. It is just steps away from a secluded beach that we mostly had to ourselves. The house is a very authentic beach house with original wood features throughout. Very well done. We will be back.

The mermaid house was just as advertised, we loved our comfortable stay there, we were just sad that wave height was too high for snorkeling at tunnels while we were there.

Special spot

We loved our short stay at the charming Mermaid house. The house was an ample size for our family of five and it was a short walk to a beautiful beach nestled in a divine location. It was the cherry on top of our wonderful Kauai vacation.

Beautiful spot!

We loved the location of this house, and its rustic/authentic Hawaiian feel. It is perfect for a family group, away from the crowds and touristy areas, and close to quiet beaches. The house has a spacious, open living area, a well-equipped kitchen, and plenty of sleeping areas. My only disappointment was prior to our stay: we had researched well, and settled on this property based on its description and the price that VRBO quoted us for the selected dates. Apparently, however,VRBO did not update the site to reflect "prices over the Holidays period" , so we received an unexpected extra cost request after we had already made our decision to stay here. At that point, it was too late to change, so we agreed to pay the extra. We were not at all disappointed with our stay at the Mermaid House, but wish that VRBO had been clearer with its original quote.

Lovely beach side house

The Mermaid House was perfect for our group. We appreciated the older and unique styling of the house. Also, it had a fully applianced equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. The location is great - very private and a short walk down an inviting path to a beautiful beach.

Hidden Gem

Having never been to Kauai (or Hawaii at all) we happened upon this hidden gem. Jane, the owner, was lovely to interact with before and after booking. This home is perfect for a family. It is exactly as described. We visited in March and with the easterly winds, AC was unnecessary. We realized after arriving how lucky we were to be so far north. The beaches were virtually empty all times of day. I watched the sunrise on the beach without another soul. Sunset was shared with 7 total people on the whole beach as far as I could see. It's one of the most private-feeling public beaches I've ever been to. The home isn't too far from good coffee shops, shopping and shaved ice in Hanelei if that's your scene. The daybeds in the living room are larger than they appear in the pictures. One bathroom is off of the main living space and the other is a jack-and-jill between one of the king bedrooms and the full size bed. We chose to keep the door locked to the full size bedroom for privacy. The other king size bedroom is very specacious but is open along the ceiling to the main living area, and is therefore slighly less private. You can't beat this for a larger family vacation. We had 3 adults, 1 pre teen and 2 adolescents. Could easy have been 2 couples the kids and would have been very comfortable. Laundry machine was clean, kitchen was spacious and well equipped. We will absolutely stay here again when we return to Kauai. Thank you Jane!

Wonderful week at Mermaid House

We really liked the setup of the Mermaid House. Very comfortable, wanting for nothing. Having three bedrooms was nice. Beach chairs and towels were especially nice. Maybe the quietest Bosch dishwasher ever.

Heaven

This a a beautiful house on a quiet street next to an amazing beach in the best part of Kauai. Just perfect. The house is full of Hawaiian charm, comfortable bed, great kitchen with everything you need and lots of places to lie around reading. The lovely beach is a short 1 minute walk down an access path and just another 5 minute walk on the sand to tunnels beach. Jane was a perfect host and the home was presented spotlessly clean. Just the best week in heaven.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Mermaid House! This was a trip that I have been wanting to do with my family for years. Magical!

Everything was just as promised. A wonderful place to stay in a truly delightful setting. Quick walk to a secluded beach, lovely home to relax in afterwards— we were only 2, but plenty of room for more! Kitchen was extremely well stocked and a pleasure to use. Host was very responsive. Looking forward to a return trip!

Great house close to beaches

Great house, nice beaches close by. Great communication with owner. Only downside, was it was a little farther than most of our activities. I knew this going in. Wanted to be closer to Tunnels and Kee beaches, but waves didn’t cooperate for snorkeling. Would stay here again even though it’s a little farther from activities.

MH was such an experience! The house itself is unique. Lots of treasures to notice gathered over the years, I presume. The beach is just a couple of minutes to walk to and explore for shells. The historic town of Hanelei is a short distance away. Besides shopping and eating there are 2 markets to enjoy. Jane, answered all our questions VERY quickly. A joy to be here and experience MH. Beautifully Secluded Home

We are a more introverted family and this place was incredible for our needs. We enjoyed the quick walk to the beach and the overall feel of the house. So glad there are still a few of these more traditional feeling homes on the island. The stroll up the coastline each morning was magical and this side of the island gave us a whole different experience than the rest of it. When we come back again we'll be sure to stay here.

Magical

This is an absolutely magical place in paradise! The house is beautifully furnished, comfortable but not fussy, and very well equipped. The location could not be better ~ a lovely beach is literally across the street down a small path and Tunnels, the best snorkeling beach around, is a short walk. The mountains are spectacular and the beauty is everywhere. Jane was a wonderful hostess. We hope to return to this little piece of heaven.

Comfortable Hawaiian Home In A Quiet Neighborhood

My sister and I stayed at the Mermaid House for four nights. The home is located in a quiet beach house neighborhood. Neighboring homes are close by, but the vegetation surrounding the house provides ample privacy. We found the home and grounds tidy and clean and supplied with everything you need for cooking and dining at home and going to the beach. You can walk to the beach in about 1-2 minutes! And, Tunnels Beach is just down the road! We are looking forward to staying at Mermaid House again and again.

Pristine Location, incredible Hawaiian home

Such a wonderful place to stay, proximity of the ocean is literally steps away, house is perfectly laid out, comfortable and has anything you could ask for. We enjoyed everything this property had to offer including contact with the Owner. Such a delightful place, why would you want to stay in a condo when you have this incredible Hawaiian home? We are a little picky when it comes to places to stay and we had absolutely no complaints... a dream! I can't stress enough how perfect the location was. We will be back... again and again and again!

Comfort and character, next to perfect beaches

The Mermaid House was beautiful, with traditional Hawaiian-inspired architecture and wonderful details from its original owner. Jane was easy to communicate with and determined to address any issue, however minor. The home is a 3 minute walk from a beautiful stretch of beach. At a time of year when Hanalei and the rest of the island were crowded, we felt alone in paradise :) .

Jane’s Mermaid House

The perfect getaway for our party of 8. We loved everything about the Mermaid House- comfortable and clean with lots of space for the 4 children , sleeping to the sound of the ocean, the short walk to a beautiful beach with the stunning sunrises & sunsets. The cottage itself is charming with something interesting everywhere you look. It is obvious that Jane has taken great care and love to preserve the history of her special home. Jane was approachable , easy to communicate with and answered my questions quickly . The Mermaid House is a peaceful and restorative haven and we will definitely be back. Thank you Jane.
