SNOW CHATEAU is a wonderful Country family home bordering Canaan Valley State Park with miles of trails just outside your back yard to explore. Enjoy family time on the large decks and spend your evenings by the large outdoor firepit! Plenty of room for your entire group to spread out! SNOW CHATEAU sits on 2 acres with large open lawn surrounded by tall evergreens offering extra privacy! SNOW CHATEAU has a large living room, spacious kitchen that has everything you need for family meals in the dining room. This lovely old-style and much beloved country home has ceiling fans in most rooms and is tucked in the trees for cool summer nights. Enjoy the huge wood fireplace during warm cozy winters. SNOW CHATEAU provides wood to the guest at no extra cost. The basement hosts a lounge area with a pool table and extra sleeping areas. SNOW CHATEAU has a garage which is perfect for cycle enthusiasts of all kinds. Park your bikes to keep them dry! The Driveway is perfectly flat with flat entrance into garage for touring bikers and extra towels provided for wiping down your bikes. An extra room in the garage allows for a nice laundry area with a boot change area for skiers/snowboarders/hikers/bikers. Good for stowing extra gear to prepare for a relaxing evening on the large deck for grilling under the trees. An extra fridge is also available in the garage for larger parties to store extra supplies. For games night, there are extra card-tables and chairs in the garage for your use as well as extra deck furniture and added chairs for around the large fire pit for the evening S'More sessions!
SNOW CHATEAU is located in the heart of Canaan Valley, 5 miles to Davis and 2 miles to Canaan Valley State Park. Close to all the attractions in the area including Timberline Mountain by Perfect North, Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center, Blackwater Falls State Park, White Grass Ski Area, Dolly Sods, and more. SNOW CHATEAU is tucked into the trees for privacy and a feeling of escaping into the woods. This home is fabulous for cool summer escapes from the heat, and winter escapes to the slopes with a flat driveway which is easily accessible in winter. Sleeps 10 people comfortably and will allow one air bed brought by guest for sleeping up to 12.

Just minutes to all-season activities within Canaan Valley and Davis/Thomas and only 23 miles to Mount Storm Lake and the Stoney River region. This home is a fabulous choice for exploring the Potomac Highlands!

Snowy weekend at Snow Chateau

We had a blast. It's a perfect place in a perfect location. We've been visiting Canaan Valley for years and this was one of our favorite stays. Can't wait to go back!

Snow Chateau Getaway

Snow Chateau is close to Timberline, tucked away...quiet, cozy and perfect for the family ski/snowboard getaway! Clean, spacious and a relaxing atmosphere....minutes from timberline. We go back every year and would not stay anywhere else!

Snow Chateau delivers!

From the moment we arrived we were totally impressed. This house is cozy and warm. Very comfortable and a lot of character. Suits the landscape perfectly. The hosts were gracious and acc accommodating we would definitely stay here again on our next visit. The snow over Thanksgiving was a bonus, although the weather got a little hectic when we tried to leave, but we worked that out. And stayed an extra day. I would definitely recommend this place for anybody looking for a snow vacation.

Above & Beyond

The Snow Chateau was such a lovely place for my family and I to spend a few days exploring Canaan Valley, Blackwater Falls, and the David/Thomas area. Michaela was very responsive, helping us locate items in the house as well as recommending a local garage for a car repair. We had such a great time playing pool and games with the family at night. We would love to stay at the Snow Chateau again.

This was our second stay at Snow Chateau. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the house, the fireplace, and the pool table. The surrounding nature destinations, Bear Rocks and Blackwater Falls were fun for everyone of all ages.

Oct '23 Fall Foilage Pyro Trip

A bakers dozen buddies from across W Va & OH that have been making 2 primitive camping trips a year to the Spruce Knob / Smoke Hole area, decided it was time to do the trip in a more civilized manner. We booked the Snow Chateau thru VRBO and it might've been the best decision since we started these ventures 46 yrs ago. The booking process was easy, our contact Michaela was on top of everything, and the accomodations were even better than expected. Altho the decor is a little dated, the cabin was in perfect condition and everything inside and outside was pristine. Ot was the perfect place for old friends to get together. We'll be coming back!!! Thanks for a GREAT weekend!

Very good

We enjoyed our time there. Unfortunately the weather was not the best, but that was no fault of anyone. The only thing that i would suggest is to repair the railing on back deck. It had a band around where the dish was anchored and was weak. My 87 year old father of course was the first to notice.

Can't Speak Highly Enough

While this property is a little distance (not too bad of a drive) from the skiing locations, it is private, fun, and the property managers are top notch! The house is fully equipped for just about anything you want.

Cozy and comfortable!

This house is very comfortable and cozy. The decor and furniture is dated, but the host freely admitted to that, and it wasn’t an issue. If anything, it added to the homeyness of the property. Everything was clean, and the house was well equipped. Michaela was a pleasure to deal with. Very responsive and welcoming. Just a couple of minor quibbles. It wasn’t clear from the listing what the set up of the bedrooms was. Although it does sleep 10, the 4 twin beds are not in real bedrooms - 2 of them are on the mezzanine and 2 are in the game room. There are also 3 bedrooms, each sleeping 2. The shower in the en suite bathroom upstairs has very low water pressure and the temperature is either hot or else it cycles between hot and cold. But the bathroom on the main floor has a much better shower, so I recommend you use that one! We will definitely look to stay here again when we’re in the area.

Pleasant stay

We had a wonderful time spending Labor Day weekend at this cabin. It’s conveniently located to all major attractions near by. The kitchen is perfect for family cooking and baking. Living room is spacious and has a great view from the outside. Property manager responded to all our requests on time and gracious enough to provide what we need. Definitely recommend for summer or winter vacation.

Very Clean, well stocked and responsive

My wife and I stayed here for four nights, very convenient location off main road in between Canaan Valley State Park and Davis. Very well stocked, very clean even though a little dated. Any time we had a question or minor concern, communication was timely, friendly and issue taken care off, for example, coffee pot got clogged one morning a new one was delivered right away. I highly recommend and we look forward to returning

Snow Chateau sits in a fabulous location bordering the Canaan Valley State Park, with a trail for explorers in the back yard. Please be sure you have good directional sense as it is easy to lose bearings in the wooded forest. Flat driveway allows for bikers and we provide a bike cleaning station in the garage for muddy hikers, bikers and skiers. Large windows to view the wildlife that roams into the yard and through the wooded areas. We see wild turkey, deer and bear often. Please be cautious of the wildlife. Snow Chateau is only 4 short miles to all the local attractions and ski/hike/bike areas and only 7 miles to Davis, 9 miles to Thomas and 9 to Blackwater Falls State Park.
