Close to historic downtown Sylva, where you will find small-town living at its finest. Dillsboro, Waynesville, Bryson City & Maggie Valley are nearby, with Asheville, Gatlinburg, & Pigeon Forge as great day excursions.

There are three outdoor cameras on this property for the security of the property and the safety of guests. These are located at the front entrance, the sliding door on the deck, and overlooking the driveway and garage.

ONE pet dog is permitted, with notice. An additional $60 pet fee will be applied to cover additional cleaning costs. If guests do not disclose their pet dog prior to arrival, this fee will increase to $120. Pets should stay off the furniture and be in the control of their owner at all times. The guest must pick up all solid waste and dispose of it in sealed bags in outside trash cans. The guest is responsible for any additional costs incurred due to damage or waste left behind by the pet. We do not have a fenced in yard and the mountains do have predators. Because of this, no pet food should be left outside and guests bring the pet dog at their own risk.

Driveway parking (up to 3 cars) Covered garage for smaller vehicles or motorcycles. Front-wheel drive is required to access the property via a windy mountain road, with 4-wheel drive highly recommended, especially in inclement weather, such as snow/ice.

Nice location to get away. Home was clean and easy to check in. Location was secluded for a nice nature refresh while bing quick drive into town. Would stay here again.

The place was very clean and just like advertised. It was a beautiful location with a relaxing, peaceful mountain view. We loved our stay there. We had no issues with checking in.Key pad code worked great! The kitchen was well stocked with any utensils or cookware you could need. Game room in garage area was so much fun too. I haven't played those games in a long time. It was fun playing them with my husband and daughters.We would rent this place again in a heartbeat. Nicest rental I've stayed at in a long time!

A gem in Sylva

The flying pig cabin was perfect for our family. The cabin was spotless and you can’t beat the location. Downtown Sylva was a short 15 minute drive. The outdoor area and view were amazing and the beds were comfy! The drive up was easy and the host was responsive and accommodating. I will definitely be booking again!

A Swine-tastic Review of "When Pigs Fly" Cabin

5 out of 5 hooves!When we arrived with our 3 Little Pigs at the "When Pigs Fly" cabin, high in the Blue Ridge Mountains, our weariness from the Florida drive melted away. Could this be real? A home so divine, so swine-tastic, it felt like a porcine paradise.The hosts outdid themselves with hidden flying piggies scattered throughout the property, like Disney's hidden Mickeys, but no crowd. Our middle piggy (the roast beef hater) found one on the mantel, while the little piggy with none spotted more near the firepit. Miss Piggy squealed over 6 winged piggies decorating the Christmas tree. It was an oinktastic treasure hunt!The roaring stone fireplace was perfect for cozy nights and Big Bad Wolf-proofing. An outdoor firepit on the hill added magic, with sunsets so stunning they rivaled Florida’s.Our Christmas feast on the twinkling back deck was unforgettable. Even Wilbur was impressed, though we didn’t mention the ham on the menu. The view and mountain air made everything taste better.From soft blankets (Piglet-approved) to cozy loft beds, the hosts thought of everything. The little piggies adored the upstairs, which felt far from their usual pigpen life. It was like home—but cooler, literally!"When Pigs Fly" is a fairytale come true. Big enough for pigs of all kinds (straw, sticks, or bricks), it’s the ultimate mountain retreat. To quote Miss Piggy, “Moi adores this place!”The only problem? All the way home, we went "Wah, Wah, Wah" because we didn’t want to leave.

Great Getaway!

Gorgeous views and wonderful house! Very clean and well kept home. We really enjoyed our stay. The grill is a nice amenity and made for a relaxing evening after a day of football. Host is very attentive and made sure we had the information for checking in and out. We will stay here again. Thanks for sharing your home.

With the timing of our trip, the recent storm, and many changes to our agenda, Sarah was in frequent communication and was very patient with my many questions.We were even able to work remotely with the WiFi connection, which was incredibly helpful and a bit surprising given the location. The kitchen is probably the most well stocked of any rental we've ever stayed in. As many others have said, the home is quite comfortable, clean, and well appointed. Overall, we had a lovely and much needed relaxing time away. We cannot wait to stay at Flying Pig Hollow again soon!

Magical Mountain Getaway

This home is simply magical. We had originally planned on going on a couple of outings but once we arrived we realized that there wasn’t any where else we wanted to be. The views from the porch were amazing. We spent a whole day just watching the clouds come in and rise from the mountains. During the night we got to watch the fireflies dance around which was really spectacular. There’s plenty of seating options out on the deck and the only drawback was access to the fire pit was on a steep hill. Inside, living and dining areas can comfortably accommodate four adults. The kitchen is fully stocked. When we did travel out, we got to Sylva, Waynesville and Blue Ridge Parkway quickly.

A Gem in Sylva

What a lovely property. We did not want for anything during our stay. All of the upgrades, little touches, and rooms that were stocked thoughtfully, added to the comforts. The beds in the loft area and spacious landing to play games, are a real plus for families with kids! Not to mention, the game room located off the garage is also a treat. Instructions as to how to get to the property etc. are very clear. This is a fantastic getaway with so many extras - serene views, well-equipped deck and backyard. Sarah is a gracious host who was quick to accommodate requests. We are already planning our next visit!

Thought of everything!

We've stayed at many VRBOs and have had great luck. However, this place stood out! It was so clean and inviting. It felt more like home than a rental. They really thought of everything to make you feel comfortable. The drive up is a little daunting (to be expected in the mountains) but was achievable with all our cars. The views are amazing and we loved our coffee on the porch. Communication was fast and so clear. Just wish we could have stayed days longer. Thank you so much!

Weekend family respite

The booking process was a breeze and the directions to find the place were very clear and accurate. The place itself was Spectacular, the views are one in a million and the attention to detail on what you might need while there were infinite. There were a few dusty spots and with an asthmatic on the trip we had to be a little careful but it was by no means out of control. While the view and location are really a treat getting up and down the mountain was an adventure in itself. Fallen trees blocked the road and we had to stop and get off on more than one occasion to move them to continue our trek. Of course that’s not the responsibility of the Vrbo hosts but something to keep in mind when you’re selecting locations.

Beautiful house in the mountains!

Fairly newly built home, with all the modern conveniences - central HVAC, dishwasher, and full size washer and dryer. Nice layout and design. Very clean. We will likely stay here again in the future.

Beautiful inside and out

Although we were a little concerned about the drive up to the property, once he stepped in it was truly worth it. Quality abound throughout with the appliances, furniture and linens. The view was truly the star of the whole experience. It was so soothing. We also enjoyed the outside TV. I would definitely stay again.

Wonderful!

We had a wonderful time enjoying the beauty of the mountains and exploring the area. The cabin was very clean and well stocked with items we may need (dish and laundry detergent, coffee pods/creamer…). Would definitely recommend!

Perfect spot for a family vacation!

Our family loved this cabin! It was within reasonable driving distance to all the activities we planned. Clean and well taken care of. The back porch with both a grill and huge griddle was perfect for enjoying all meals on the deck with a gorgeous view. The kids loved the swings, games and the loft beds. The grandparents enjoyed relaxing by the fire or drinking coffee outside in the morning. We had 8 guests (4 adults and 4 children) and didn’t feel cramped at all. Would definitely recommend!

Greetings and welcome to Flying Pig Hollow! When we embarked on this cabin rental journey, we had two goals. The first goal was to create a destination for people that would be relaxing, perfect for board games by the fire or reading outside with a view of the mountains we love, and also offer the opportunity for adventure, history, and exploration. We feel the location we landed on in Sylva does exactly that. Our second goal was to choose a name that had meaning to us and our love of the surrounding mountains. How you might ask, do flying pigs help with that goal? Let us tell you.

Both of us were born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, a river city once called Porkopolis, due to the high number of pigs and pork products that contributed to its booming economy in the 1800s. In fact, to this day, it is the only city where you will find a German pork/oat dish called goetta. Eventually, the flying pig became the unofficial mascot of the city. The name for this cabin is a nod to our hometown and the city where we met almost twenty years ago. It also acknowledges an incredible dream to own a cabin in the mountains of North Carolina, which at one time, seemed impossible… a dream we are thrilled to share with you.
