Ideal for a romantic getaway or a small family vacation ( can sleep 2 small children), this cute and colorful cottage offers plenty of comforts and incredible lakefront views. Recently decorated, this home boasts an open layout with a well-equipped, galley kitchen, a dining table for four for meals or family game nights, and a living area with a wall-mounted flatscreen TV and sliding glass doors out to the deck. The furnished deck overlooks the lake and features a gas grill plus a table and chairs for outdoor dining. You and your guests will also enjoy access to a dock for fishing, swimming, and setting off in your kayak or canoe.

We loved this cottage steps from the lake and convenient to the area sites. The lake view is amazing, and swimming in it was a favorite, along with using the kayaks & paddle board. The owners are so friendly and attentive, going above & beyond to address one water issue we had. Such a comfortable & peaceful stay - we hope to return!

Family Vacation

The Brown cottage was beautiful and cozy. The view from the deck is a perfect way to enjoy the lake. The beach had lots of canoes and kayaks to enjoy as well as a swimming platform. We enjoyed all the amenities provided. The Boothbay region is a great place to spend a vacation. Our two children slept comfortably in the bunk room. Over all great experience! Will book again in the future.

Great place to get away

The house is located right on the lake which is perfect. Very relaxing. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning for another great vacation

Nice spot

Nice location and very clean house! Sulfur smell in the water was a real issue but hopefully the owner will fix that right away. Everything else was very campy and overall a pleasant spot.

Lovely place but poor water quality

The cabin and location was lovely. The hot water was not usable because of the sulfur stench stemming from a unmaintained water heater. When we reported this we were told that this is an issue each spring and the owner had to clean out the sediment and that it would improve if we ran the hot water. The stench was so bad we had to open all doors and windows and eventually leave the unit. The stench did not improve.

Quaint cabin on beautiful lake. Harbor town is very nice..good place to use as home base.

Perfect Spot - Charming Cottage

We had a lovely stay. Very comfortable king size bed with plenty of good pillows. Shower had wonderful pressure! Kitchen well equipped. Quiet and view over lake serene. Enjoyed the loon and bald eagle. Best for 2 people bunk room very small. Would recommend and come back ourselves, but longer stay. serene.

A perfect, peaceful getaway!

We loved the location right on the lake and the fact that there was a variety of different boats (kayaks, canoe, and rowboat) available for our use. The best part were the loons that made daily (and nightly) appearances. So nice to wake up to the call of the loons! We also hiked on several of the nearby preserves. Our favorite was the Porter Preserve. We will definitely be back!

My happy place

We have stayed in the Brown Cottage many times through the years. I would not stay anywhere else. My favorite spot is the deck overlooking the lake. It is impossible not to have a feeling of peace and tranquility. Saw a Loon this time and heard its call.

Wonderful week at the cabin

Great place for relaxation, amazing scenery and quiet atmosphere..Cabin was just like home,clean, neat and had everything you needed.You could eat inside or outside or also there was a multitude of information to go out to great restaurants and attractions.

Brown Cottage on Knickerbocker lake

Brown cottage, it's a funky lil' cottage directly on a small lake. Pictures are very accurate. We had a good time, and it was especially nice to have access to kayaks and canoes, so that's definitely a plus+plus. Steep stairs were not especially problematic for us (as we are 60yrs+). We found the furniture / bedding & pillows not particularly "comfortable", (especially for the price point), the cottage is ideal for a couple, something to consider, we wouldn't even consider the (so called) 2nd bedroom for kids of any age, it was a small dark closet for us, more like a walk in closet, it was a good place for our luggage.

Lakeside tranquility

Lovely cottage with gorgeous views of lake throughout, unbelievably close to the water. Peaceful, quiet, friendly lake community, shared sandy beach with numerous kayaks and paddle boards to borrow from the beach. Deck, dock and float located at the cottage as well, where we enjoyed reading books and watching the loons. We loved our stay and would be happy to return to Brown Cottage again.

Perfect home away from home

Brown Cottage is adorable. The deck sitsright on the beautiful lake. The rooms are comfy and every amenity was thoughtfully provided for. The location is close to town, Botanical Gardens,hiking trails ,shops and restaurants. The owners couldn’t be nicer! I was sad to leave.

Very Beautiful, Private and Quiet

My only complaint is on the last day of our stay, the sulfur smell in the water coming into the house from the well was terrible. Other than that, I would stay here again provided this issue was fixed.

Beautiful Setting

The "Brown Cottage" at Knickerbocker Lake Cottages has amazing views of the lake throughout the day. We enjoyed watching the light change on the water from sun-up to sun-down. The lake is a great place to play (swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing) and relax (sipping a cold drink or your morning coffee on the deck overlooking the lake). There are herons, loons, and goldfinches to be seen along with beautiful water plants and colorful dragon and damselflies. It is hard to beat for natural beauty. The cottages are beautifully decorated, very clean, and the kitchen has everything necessary to make a delicious meal. We have visited Knickerbocker Lake many times, and we hope to visit many more times in the future.

Beautiful Lake View

We had a nice time at the Brown Cottage. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was stocked with any items needed for cooking, and it was convenient to Boothbay Harbor and other activities in the area. The best thing about the cottage was the deck right next to the lake. We spent a lot of time sitting on the deck enjoying the lake and the cool breezes. We also took advantage of the private beach, and kayaks which were available for our use.

Cute cottage on lake

Very cute and peaceful spot on the lake. A little confusing about where to get the kayaks-paddle boats - they’re located on the sandy beach to the left of the cottage. There is a split ac unit which was great. Def bring your own water. Water wreaks of sulfur. Bed was comfortable and spot is close to town.
