You’ll love your stay in our unique 3BR/3BA beach house at Lost Colony! We have some of the best Gulf views on the island, plus a deck for enjoying them. Stroll the private boardwalk to the beach. Or cool off at Lost Colony’s shared pool, just steps from your front door.

INSIDE THE HOUSE

Kick back and relax in our large living room, watch TV on the flat-screen with cable, and deal a game of cards at the adjacent dining table. Or cook full meals or pack snacks for the beach in the fully stocked kitchen, which includes all appliances.

This house sleeps nine comfortably across three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed and its own private bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and the 3rd bedroom is a bunkroom with a full-over-full bunk and a twin-over-twin bunk.

Two more baths make it easy for everyone to get clean after a day at the beach!

THE LOCATION

Everything you need for a relaxing beach getaway is here at Lost Colony. It’s about a 10-minute drive to downtown Port A – just far enough for peace and quiet. The Lost Colony boardwalk takes you right to an unpopulated stretch of beach, and the community pool is just steps away.

Things to Know

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The pet fee is per stay and ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog.

Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles.

Dirty/needs updates

Location and actual space was good. However, dirty. Shower upstairs needed cleaned, the top bunk beds had sand in the corners, the floors needed swept and mopped as well. Place also needs updates. Decking needs updated, along with paint, doors, etc. plus the power was out 12 of the last 24 hours we were there. No refund or anything when I asked. It was night outside. No back up generators or anything

Great rental, a few caveats

Excellent location on Mustang Island with a 5 minute walk to beach on a nice boardwalk. Views cannot be beat - over the dune to the waves. This is a group of individual 3-story houses closest to the beach, in a gated area, many family owned. House needs some TLC which may be why is it a lower cost than it's neighbors, but still a great rental. When you rent through VRBO, this links into another vacation rental system called Vacasa. The auto-generated Vacasa system was not a good experience - too many texts and when we had a small issue, we were requested to write up a ticket with photographs, etc. Not doing this while on vacation! But we also had the name of a real person who worked at Vacasa named Heather, and she solved our issue immediately, and was very helpful with other questions. Kitchen was well stocked with dish and cookware - but bring your own spices including salt.

Great spot!

Very clean and comfortable! Beds were wonderful. Kitchen is fully stocked with anything you could imagine! Super close to the beach and near downtown Port A. Will book again !

Rock the Boat

We had some hiccups and bumps when we got there. They did address our concerns. They might need a new cleaning company or kindly reminder. The views were amazing and the walk to beach out did some of that bad.

Rock the Boat

Great location. Access to the community pool and beach is very convenient. Overall the house is nice, but needs some updates from wear and tear. Big problems were serious mold problem in the upstairs bathroom ceiling and the deck gate lock is so rusted it will not latch. These are not recent problems, so no telling how long they have been an issue.

Comfortable and Convenient

Beautifully decorated home with very comfortable furnishings. Amazing ocean views from the main floor deck and the upper floor master bedroom. House is located in a quiet area just outside the main path to the beach boardwalk. Conveniently located just steps from the boardwalk, yet away from any (minimal) noise from the community pool area.

Great!

We loved the proximity to the boardwalk and the house itself. The decor was very beachy and calming. The a/c was nice and cold. Lots of stairs but great handrails. King and Queen on 3rd floor with great bathrooms. Bunk beds on second floor with living & kitchen. Only washer and dryer in 1st floor. Beach view was nice. Our dog loves chilling on the deck with us.

Great stay!

Couldn’t have asked for a better location! Gulf views from both balconies, boardwalk just around the corner with direct access to the beach, 10 minute drive into town. Usually while in vacation, the only thing I yearn for is my own bed, but the beds here are SO comfortable. All the rooms are a great size too. Only negative is there are some stickers in the grass that would catch on the dogs’ feet, though with sand it comes with the territory. But otherwise very dog friendly! Gate on the balcony lets them enjoy being outside without being able to go anywhere

Beautiful!

The Vacasa staff is amazing. The property we booked had a last minute maintenance issue and they had to move us to a different property. They called, texted and emailed. The email explained the situation and provided the option of a place to go. All we had to do was reply to the email accepting the the property. I called and the rep explained everything as well. I received the confirmation email with all the details within minutes of replying to the email. It was such an easy process and they really took care of us. The home was beautiful with ocean views from the kitchen, dining and patio. The home was clean with lots of natural light. They provide basic toiletries, kitchen items and alot of towels. There's an outdoor shower and hose to use to rinse off before going inside. It's a minute walk to the beach. The house is comfortable and has great air conditioning. Not only would I stay here again, I will always book through Vacasa every time I visit Port A.

Perfect location, great views, small private community.

Amazing!!!! This location far exceeded our expectations!!! You can hear the waves from every spot of the property. The two decks are amazing with great relaxing furniture and fun bird watching! The beds are comfortable and the hosts provided everything...to include hand soap, body soap, shampoo, and conditioner! We prefer to cook at least one meal a day to avoid cost of eating out and they had every item we needed. The kitchen/dining room table is not only great for eating but for playing games with family and friends and feeling a breeze blowing in while listening to the waves.

Very Poor Management Company

Having recently stayed at a beach rental “Rock the Boat” in Lost Colony, Port Aransas, Tx, managed by Vacasa, I must express my deep dissatisfaction and warn prospective renters against entrusting their vacation experiences to this company or this owner. We stayed at the same unit last year and it was fine but apparently management got worse. My stay, intended as a romantic getaway to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday, was marred by a series of egregious failures in both accommodation and customer service. Upon arrival at the property at 5:00PM (check in time was a very late 4:00PM), we were immediately greeted by an overpowering stench of insecticide, reminiscent of a chemical warfare zone. This nauseating odor permeated the air, suggesting a recent dousing with the likes of "Raid" or some other industrial-grade bug bomb. Not only was this olfactory assault deeply unpleasant, but it also posed a health risk to my wife, who suffers from sensitivity to such noxious fumes. Despite our discomfort, we soldiered on, opening windows and ventilating the space for hours in a futile attempt to mitigate the stench. Regrettably, our efforts yielded little relief, with one room remaining particularly pungent throughout our stay. As if the chemical onslaught weren't enough, our peace was further shattered the following morning by an unexpected visitor scaling a ladder to access our third-floor bedroom balcony. Great Location, Stunning views. But

This home could be phenomenal. Feels like it’s been overlooked and forgotten about. Lots of little things need updating and the smell as you walk in is a bit overwhelming. Smells like a cleaner trying to mask other smells. But the view! And the location are 5 stars.

Not Good

There was a roach infestation. The floors were filthy. A sink was backed up and full of water on arrival. The management was apologetic but the “local team” was not responsive. Took two days for them to come fix the sink. We deserve a sizable refund considering the kitchen wasn’t usable because roaches were crawling on the food prep surfaces. They did offer to fumigate DURING OUR STAY. I can see from past reviews they haven’t done anything about the roach infestation. Don’t stay here. There are other places that are managed by people who care.

Dismissive, unresponsive management. Ignored a significant problem.

Nice home, well located; but half of a bedroom double door opening directly onto the living room and kitchen was missing and 3 days of texted promises from management that someone would get in touch to fix it resulted in no local person ever contacting us. Just ignored. Other parts of house were broken too; overall poorly maintained. Over the years we had occasional problems with rentals, but never have we been completely dismissed and received no response from local agents/managers at all. Vacasa makes it almost impossible to get in touch with anyone by phone, hence the texts and empty promises to fix something significant.

Mostly Perfect Stay

Everything was in order and as described. Only thing we thought the kitchen was lacking: storage containers, prep bowls, serving dishes, ice trays/ice maker, baking sheets and updated small appliances. Other than that, great stay and even better views.

Bug problem

The kitchen has a major roach problem. We planned on cooking in the kitchen but didn’t feel comfortable cooking with the bug issue. Dead roaches in cabinets and live roaches came out on counters. We kept our food stores in fridge and coolers because we didn’t want roaches crawling on our stuff.

Nasty, filthy dirty AND roaches. Small , medium and Large

Was filthy dirty. Windows we had to clean ourselves just to see out of them. Kitchen was full of dirty sand EVERY WHERE. Also had filth on counter top and roaches. Sent pictures to Vacasa in which they responded only to confirmed they received but did nothing. Absolutely had not been disinfected. Since two of us came down with Covid when we got home!! Very disappointing. Would never stay there ever again..

Short Family Get Away

The location of the property was ideal. We had a wonderful view of the ocean from kitchen, living room and master bedroom. There was plenty of space for a family of four and pet. We were not able to utilize deck at night as the lights were not working, but that was not a necessity. We did have issues with bugs. There was a huge dead roach on stairs when we arrived and I had two visit me in the morning. Maintenance did spray while we were there, so that may have been what drew them out. If I could make some suggestions to improve he stay of future residents; extra coasters to use on the surfaces would be nice. We only found one. Extra kitchen trash bags, especially when having/ cooking every meal in the house, would be a nice addition, as well as either a broom or small hand held vacuum. I would like to have cleaned up the sand when we came back from the beach. Also, you may want to consider purchasing a new hose for the deck and fixing the gate so it shuts properly. Aside from the few minor things, we enjoyed the stay. The kids loved the bunk beds and being able to watch the pelicans from the deck.
