The Happy Heron is a clean, luxurious home located in the most desirable area of Surfside Beach. Near pier, restaurants, and attractions. Ocean and beach views from 3 covered porches Private pool and tons of square footage! 7BR, 5,5 BA and 2 seperate living areas! Can sleep up to 20 total people max (up to 14 adults max and 6 kids max) , House rental includes elevator, linens, house towels, and linens,. Home is loaded with many upgrades- granite, tile, vinyl plank flooring, stainless appliances, upper end furnishings to name a few and renovated in 2022! Added EV charging receptacle Nema 145-50R for electric car use during your stay 2024 !

This is the southern side of our newly renovated duplex and is called The Happy Heron. The northern side is named The Lazy Loon. Both sides have the same amenites including individual pools, elevators, table tennis, etc.

We are happy to offer our latest home for your vacation! Please look at our other listings to see all our past reviews on our other homes, and we know you will experience just as wonderful of a time at this freshly re-done home with a nice clean, relaxing feel. Our other homes on VRBO are number 335239, 412912, and 866526. We also have reviews shown on our website as well.3250 square feet, sleeps 20 with 7 bedrooms and 5 baths and 1 half baths. Has private pool (18' x 14' & 3' to 5' Deep) , elevator, and many more additional amenities. :)

This homes calendar runs a weekly 7 day rental of Saturday to Saturday during peak summer season. (ie June- August)

Arrival time is 4:00 PM and checkout time is 10:00 AM.

When make booking request to us, we will email for some addiitional guest information of which we require repies to us at time of request, Reservations are created when payment is made on owner approved booking requests. We sometimes get multiple inquiries for same date ranges that we quote multiple people on the same day. A quote does not equal a reservation or dates held until paid and approved.

In order to book our home you must read over the required Rental Agreement we will provide after acceptance, complete all required information, and return with drivers license verifying your agreement to the stated terms that they are acceptable and will be followed. Please notify us if have any questions on this.

We generally only allow family rentals with responsible adult over 30 years of age. We do not rent to individuals under 30 years of age. Any non family groups, and/ or people bringing motorcycles or trailers please contact us prior to requesting to book to get approval to reserve.

Family Tradition Continues

This is our 8th year staying at this house. We had stayed before Steve and Kathy bought and remodeled the home. Each year we seem to add another person and it still doesn’t feel cramped! There’s always plenty of room for all of us to spread out and have our own space! The third floor is perfect for our teenagers and they love the space it gives them! The house is beautifully decorated and meticulously maintained! Having the beds already made and the bathroom towels provided is a bonus we appreciate! We love the location to the beach and all of the local restaurants! Ideally, we could park the cars when we arrive for the week and not need them, again, until we leave! Steve and Kathy are incredible to work with, which is why we continue to go back year after year!

Perfection

Happy Heron has quickly become our favorite!! It has everything you could want or need for a relaxing vacation. The proximity to the beach is fantastic, and the pool is great too. This is our second year at Happy Heron, and we will for sure be back.

great location & home layout.

House is an ideal location. Easy access to beach, walking distance to shops, bars, restaurants. House was clean and layout worked perfect for our families. Communication was good and when issues arose the property manager was quick to respond. Only issue we had was a listing for a grill - only to find there was no grill for our use. Overall great vacation, home, & manager.

Best family vacation ever

We have rented many vacation homes in the past. The Happy Heron was the best location for our family vacation. So close to everything. The house was perfect for our large family. Kathy and Steve called as soon as we arrived to make sure that everything was as we expected. Every room was filled with all the little things that made you feel right at home. They even updated us throughout the week on activities that were happening around us that we might like to attend. The kids cried when we had to leave. We can’t wait to stay here again. Thank You Kathy and Steve.

Annual Family Vacation

We are a family of 16, so finding a home within a reasonable budget is very hard to do, until now! This house exceeded our expectations. Having a place for all the adults to have their own rooms and the large room upstairs that could sleep 8 worked out great for the kids to have their own space with games and tv was the best we’ve ever found. The view Is great! The walk to the beach was very close. Lots of seating for family dinners. Each one of the families were very happy with this house and would love to return. It is well maintained and very clean. Owners were very quick to respond and have anything that we needed, taken care of promptly. Very nice people to rent from. We are all looking forward to returning next year.

The hospitality and attentiveness from the property owner was outstanding!

This beautiful vacation home was exactly as described in the listing and brought our family wonderful vacation memories! Clean, spacious, convenient elevator along with a golf cart that allowed handicap access for our families needs. The pool was perfect and private! The owners provided so many extras, it was exceptional! I brought things from my kitchen thinking that I would need them, but the kitchen was better equipped than I could even imagined! We all enjoyed going to the beach! It was just steps away and easy carry chairs, toys and much more beach items were provided! We slept great every night; the beds were so comfortable and we are used to a great mattress and very picky! It was a little rainy during our stay but we still had a great time, our group played ping pong with the provided ping pong table. The hospitality and attentiveness from the property owner was outstanding! Our family thanks your family for providing such a beautiful home and wonderful vacation experience! We all look forward to coming back soon!

Great place to stay

Great Family Vacation

This well stocked house was perfect for our family of 16. The property is in a great location. An easy walk to the beach off a quiet street but also close to the restaurants and shops at Surfside pier. The owners were responsive and did everything to make our stay perfect.

Another outstanding vacation

This was the 1st time staying at The Happy Heron, last time The Lazy Loon. The Happy Heron did not disappoint. It was a family vacation of 16, 9 being grandchildren who ranged from 1-15. All had more fun than I even expected. Kathy and Steve(the owners) couldn’t have been more helpful. The house is beautifully furnished, well equipped with whatever you might need and an absolute perfect location. My entire family said many times how lucky we were to find this rental along with the owners. I can’t recommend their properties enough. If you are looking for an ideal vacation that has all the perks to make it a wonderful stay, look no further than This property or one of their others. Definitely a 5* vacation!

Amazing beach house for a large group

Perfect for 8 adults and 8 kids age 10-16. We had plenty of room for all 4 couples to have their own rooms and the couple w the youngest kids had a nice 2 bedroom suite w the jack and Jill to keep an eye on the younger 2. The top floor was perfect for the older boys and oldest teen girl in the small separate queen room up there. The kids had their own space up there to watch TV, play video games and the oldest teen boy loved reading on the balcony or listening to his podcasts while watching the waves. Kids did their own laundry up there w their washer and dryer set up and adults had the first floor washer/dryer set up to use. Never had to wait for someone else’s laundry to be done. Showers were great with good water pressure, plenty of hot water and drained quickly. The 2 fridges are a must with large groups, perfect amount of space for all 4 families. The 2 large tables allowed for us to play a few games and put a few puzzles together, up to 8 of us at a time for comfortably playing Mexican train. Kitchen is well stocked w supplies, made several large meals, breakfasts and lunches for all 16 people without a problem of room or needing a device or utensil. The pool area is phenomenal, great outside shower to get that sand off before jumping in the pool or heading inside. And the beach chairs were perfect, esp since I flew in. Plenty of room to park 3 large vehicles and 1 mid size. Easily walkable to Surfside Beach pier for ice cream and meals out. Short drive to mini golf. Host is great with communication and instructions are well laid out. This host has more rules outlined up front than others I’ve worked with, but I’ve found those are some of the best places to rent because the houses are well taken care of. You definitely want to stay here for your next beach vacation.

Wonderful house with a great location for our family of 12!

We found this house to fit our needs perfectly. Everyone was happy with their sleeping arrangements and there was plenty of room for everyone to eat at the same time in the same room. The kitchen was wonderfully equipped with all we needed and the two refrigerators were very helpful. The location was very close to the beach access and the pool was terrific. The grill was large enough to cook hamburgers and hot dogs for all of us at one time which surprised us. We didn't expect it to be that large. My grandsons loved the room on the top floor with the captain bunks, king bed, large sofa, big tv and foosball table. All in all, we loved it and will look forward to staying there again next year.

Loved the Happy Heron

We had a great stay with our extended family for our son’s graduation from CCU. Perfect house in a perfect location. Can’t really say much more. Five stars for sure. Highly recommend the Happy Heron and all guests had a great time.

We are a family of 5 who love our homes in Surfside Beach SC, “The Family Beach”. Throughout the years we vacationed at many different places along the coast of North and South Carolina. When we stayed at Surfside Beach, we knew this was the place we wanted to purchase a home at. It has so much more to offer than the other coastal areas we visited previously- it is a small family-oriented town only 2 miles long, that is clean, safe, and close to all the activities of the Myrtle Beach Grand Strand, and is golf cart and pedestrian friendly so you can leave the car parked and just enjoy family time.

When we were younger, we stayed at many places, but they always seemed to let us down- issues with cleanliness, location, amenities, etc. We decided if we were ever fortunate enough to own a beach home that we, or people who visited our home, would never experience these issues. We offer everything possible at our homes. We handle all rentals on our own, being most rental companies are concerned with profit above guest satisfaction. We do everything possible to ensure a 5 star stay for our guests who often become friends over the years, and even have a local contact, who is a friend of ours, to help handle any unforeseen issues that one may incur during their stay.

We try to make sure our homes have everything that you would have at your personal home like a well-stocked kitchen and laundry, plus nice amenities while on vacation like private pools, hammocks, linens and house towels, beach toys and chairs, ping pong, and some of the homes also have elevators, and included golf carts. On top of all of that our places are clean, and none of them are very far from the beach, or shopping, restaurants, and attractions.
