Welcome to Away at the Bay! A new build, 4 bedroom house right on the Chesapeake Bay. Very family friendly, and in walking distance to a small community beach. Enjoy kayaking, biking, and crabbing on Kent Island right out of your front door. Perfect for multiple families (especially with younger kids), or working from home with a view! Speaking of the view - the sunsets! Every night is a dream view of a sunset right over the water - where can you get that on the east coast?! 15 minutes off the Bay Bridge and easy access to groceries stores, outlet shopping, and restaurants. Come stay with us and enjoy being "away at the bay!"

Beautiful Property Wonderful host Perfect trip!

Truly a stress free vacation! I really appreciated all special touches that the hosts provided to their home.From fresh flowers to oyster shells tucked into the folded towels, our family felt appreciated and pampered as guests. The attention to detail was top notch, as was the accommodations. We were able to relax and reconnect, which is what this little vacation was all about. I especially enjoyed the early mornings with coffee, sitting around the kitchen table, watching the barges drift by. What a special place this host has created, well done!

Wedding Weekend

Celebrated our daughter’s wedding! Stayed an extra day to relax and enjoy the view!! Away at the Bay was perfect! So clean, all necessities and then some!! Can tell the owners take great care to make sure you have the most enjoyable experience. Can’t wait to stay there again!

This property was by far the best rental I have ever stayed in. The manager was excellent!

The property was clean with many amenities for outdoor fun. The owner was always available if we had any questions! This property was the best rental I have ever stayed in!!!

Another year , another away at the bay experience !

We had an absolutely great time at the property. We celebrated a 40th birthday party that Ryan pre-decorated for. The kids crabbed and fished their hearts out. It was a wonderful family experience! Looking forward to another chartered boat sunset cruise. We can't wait til next year !

We’ve rented a lot of homes over the years and this is one of the best! The location is fabulous, the house oozes hospitality and the hosts are amazing! Wine, snacks and gifts for our dogs were waiting on our arrival and the personal touches in every room made for an incredibly warm welcome. We can’t wait to return!

Fabulous place for a reunion with friends!!

What a perfect location, right on the Chesapeake Bay! The house is immaculately clean, the decor is fabulous, and the hosts thought of EVERYTHING! They were so very kind and welcoming to our group of friends. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, sipping wine on the deck and playing cornhole in the backyard. And the sunset views are just stunning!

This property is very well maintained and meticulously thought out. Ryan goes above and beyond to ensure everyone in your party is comfortable. We have rented a lot of homes through VRBO and Air B&B and this was the best experience hands down.

Best rental experience ever

The home was absolutely perfect. My entire family stayed at the home for a long weekend and everything about the experience exceeded our expectations. The hosts were incredibly communicative before and during our stay. The home itself was spectacular, from the upscale finishes, to the gorgeous Chesapeake views. The cherry on top was the attention to detail and personalized touches/notes left throughout the home by the host. Can not recommend this property enough!

Best property we have ever stayed at

We have been staying at Vacation Rental By Owner properties I would say at least once a year and often two or three times a year since the mid 2000s, and this was by far the best property we have ever stayed at. I cannot even begin to describe the attention to detail and care for the needs of renters. They owners have everything covered. The house is new and clean with million dollar views of the beautiful sunsets over the bay. We had a wonderful time.

Perfect Getaway

My friends and I decided to do a well overdue girls weekend to get away from the stresses of life. Away At The Bay was the perfect place to do this. The owner is an awesome host. He left no stone unturned and was very attentive to the details of our trip. Although the pictures of the home are nice online, the home and it's charm is more beautiful in person. I cannot imagine another host being at the same level as what was presented to us. I will definitely utilize this house again as well as refer it to others.

Wow!

What a beautiful property. Could not have been cleaner and the owners have thought of everything you might need! Ryan was a pleasure to work with, and extremely responsive. I can’t say enough good things. We wished it was warmer so we could use ALL the fun outdoor “toys” they have. We cannnot wait to come back. You will NOT be disappointed.

Wonderful!

This property is the best VRBO experience ever, and we have stayed at many! The house is beautiful and is not lacking in any area. The owners have thought of everything. The sunsets over the bay were spectacular. And there are plenty of toys, etc. to suit everyone. We especially liked the nearness of the beach, and the kids loved riding around in the golf cart. In spite of not being able to use the yard (as the owners are trying to grow the grass) we had a great time with family. Ryan is a fabulous host, so easy to work with! Would not hesitate to rent this property again.

Amazing place and fantastic hosts!

Magnificent. The location was fantastic for getting around Kent Island and the wedding. It was good for going to Annapolis and to BWI. The highlight was the house itself and the very thoughtful 'extras' and details that the hosts put together. They had photos that we sent them of the engaged couple. They had a gift bag for the bridal party and suggestions on places to go, things to do, etc. Absolutely fantastic. I cannot recommend them enough. My sister - mother of the groom already said that they want to book it again and come back for a week and really get to enjoy the house and location.

Most Amazing Home Rental Ever !!!

We just got back from a spectacular 4 night stay at Away At The Bay. It was our Mom’s 91st birthday. There were 9 of us and two dogs. I cannot begin to describe how incredible our stay was, and how incredible this house is!!! Ryan has thought of everything. I mean, literally, everything. There was not one thing that might have needed that was not there. The house is large, comfy, beautifully decorated. The amenities are truly un-describable! We also really appreciated that the house was very “green”, with composting, as well as compostable storage bags, natural soaps, etc. If you are looking for a rental on the Chesapeake, this should be your top choice!!!

Cheers to love and the Chesapeake Bay!!

There are not enough words to describe this home. We were looking for a short extended weekend to have a wine tasting/bridal shower that was on the water with amazing sunsets near our family and friends, and this one exceeded our expectations! What a beautiful, well appointed and maintained home in a perfect location. Every detail of the home, every gesture of the host is approached with great thought and care. The host was very accommodating of special requests and never made it feel like an inconvenience or a burden, even helping to connect us with a local party planner. The host’s obvious passion for providing for their guests, paired with that amazing view of the water, you end up with an incredible vacation experience and remarkable memories…and that is really what family time should be about. We will be rebooking next year!! Thanks for giving my family the best memories!

Exceeded Every Expectation

Words cannot say how perfect this house was. My husband and kids surprised me with this house for my 40th birthday. They looked all around the Chesapeake Bay because it holds a very special place in our hearts. This is the house they found. It is perfect. So clean. Everything you need is there. Each of our kids had their own bathroom. That was amazing! Our dog was relaxed in this home too. We had thanksgiving there as well. The house just gives you that relaxing feel. It is great that Ryan and Eric can create this home and then open it up for other families to come and enjoy. My husband said that Ryan and Eric were easy to work with and they went above and beyond to make sure I had a spoiled couple of days while we were there. I have no negative remarked that I can give. Thanks Ryan and Eric for the wonderful memories you created for us!!!! We would love to come back again!

Home on the Bay

This property could not have been more of delight for our group over Labor Day weekend. It all started with the hosts, who were so incredibly warm, friendly and communicative (when needed, and totally hands off when not). They provided the perfect amount of detailed information about the house and the area, making packing super easy. They also told us about all the best spots for food and leisure with our kids, making logistics super smooth! Let's move on to the HOUSE. What a stunning and impressive waterfront property. The home has literally everything you need to feel comfortable with your family. The pictures don't even do it all justice - it's a rare instance of where reality is even better than marketing. Finally, the house is stocked with tons of goodies to make use of the natural surroundings on Kent Island. From bikes, to paddle boards, to kayaks and yard games, we didn't even get through half of all the tools they made available to us which has us already mapping out our next stay. In a nutshell, if you want a beachy escape for a few days (or even longer - there is a very comfy office!) without the long drive all the way to the Ocean, this is the home for you. You will absolutely love your stay.

Hi! We are Eric & Ryan. Almost 20 years ago, we met on the lakes of Algonquin Park in Canada on a college trip. As friends in college and later while dating, we would often travel together around the eastern shore of Maryland, discovering all the beauty that it offers. Over those years, we kept getting pulled to the Chesapeake Bay - a beautiful meeting place between the ocean and mountains of Maryland. For the past few years, we traveled all around Kent Island looking for the perfect spot: and then we came across Bay Drive. In October 2019, we made it official by buying the land and the rest is history. This spot has already offered us so many amazing times as a family with our 9 year old twins and crazy dog, Hank, and we cannot wait to share it with the world.

This property means so much to us - it's in an amazing location on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. It's where we see people spending time together outside (perhaps getting married here!) and just good ol' fashioned fun. Being able to get people outside, away from distractions, and taking in this amazing view motivates us to make this place as special as we can to match the beauty that is this view.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

Watch the big ships (including cruise ships) roll in and out of the Baltimore harbor. Seeing the twinkling lights of the western shore is always magical at night. You can spot the Bay Bridge from the end of the dock and a few lighthouses on a clear day. When you get here, you instantly feel calm and ready to relax. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
