Just a few words . . .
The apartment itself at Villa Jardins Caracol complex was fine: modern, good A/C, comfortable bed, well-quipped kitchen, clean swimming pool, well-maintained with a friendly concierge on duty daily, safe, although there was often a scarcity of hot water. You will need to provide your own drinking water, though, because the tap water is very salty.
However, like most of the condo complexes in Tulum - La Veleta, this one also faces a dirt road rutted with pot holes, and unless you have a car or bicycle, it would be hard to navigate about to get groceries, eat at a local restaurant or get to the few public beaches (30 minutes by bicycle) on the Caribbean.
In general, Tulum is highly, highly over-rated and because of the overdevelopment in the city, there were a few unannounced power and water cuts that lasted for up to 12 hours, as well as constant noise and dust from condo construction sites everywhere.
Give Tulum another 5 or 10 years for the construction to end. Choose another city like Playa del Carmen, Bacalar, Mérida or Campeche. The Tren Maya construction has also been suspended because of environmental concerns, and even more tropical vegetation is slated for destruction to make room for "progress" - i.e., more condos.
The last two paragraphs are in no way meant to be a bad review or reflection on Villa Jardin Caracol itself, however.
