Beautiful antique-filled rooms, comfortable and very spacious in Historic Springfield neighborhood. Close to downtown. Step back in time as you sip your morning coffee on the back deck, enjoy a cold drink on the veranda, or gather with friends or family in the backyard gazebo. Super-comfy beds and designer bed linens, fluffy towels, washer/dryer. Titanic fans will enjoy the library filled with memoribilia that features a turntable and vintage vinyl records. Gorgeously appointed 1st floor parlor offers a more formal setting with the artworks of John Waterhouse and a crystal chandelier while the upstairs den is perfect for family movie night. Enjoyed Our Stay

We stayed here while we were in town for a speech and debate tournament being held in downtown Jacksonville. Was a perfect location and not far from the church. Loved the house. Beds were comfortable and the house was very clean. Was like stepping back in time.

Perfect Landing Spot and House

Most unique vintage house in Springfield

The Sugar Magnolia House is a wonderful and unique turn of the century home to transport you back to the 1920's. Even though all the furnishings and decorations have the vintage charm, the home is yet furnished with the modern conveniences of air conditioning and wifi. From the large front porch to the extensive backyard, this space can be used for any family or occasion, big or small. The host was very accomodating and awesome. I highly recommend this getaway home!

Packers weekend

We had an excellent stay in Jacksonville with family. Attended the Packers - Jaguars game which added to the fun. Home was a true Victorian experience.

Great house with a lot of history. You could spend hours looking at the historic pieces throughout the house. Beds were super comfortable, great host, very responsive. Would definitely come back next time we are in town.

Summer 2025 Regional Convention of Jehovah 's Witnesses

We were in the city to attend our Summer RC. Because l am directionally challenged, l looked for the closest place and found it with Vrbo . We were very pleased with the accommodations. And the attention to historicity of the house and its furnishings with all the modern conveniences we've come to love. . Great place!

We had a fantastic stay in beautiful home with lovely decor in every room. Place was huge and had all the amenities you could ask for, even had a bottle of wine waiting for us! We'll definitely try to stay here again for any event in Jacksonville area. We had no issues with anything, even parking was no trouble at all.

Beautiful Home

This has been one of our favorite places we’ve stayed yet! Such a beautiful and well decorated home. Staying in this home feels like your time traveling with how beautiful and antique everything is. Beautiful old home in historic neighborhood

Murder Mystery Dinner Party

This historic house was perfect for my sister's surprise murder mystery party. I didn't have to decorate anything. Not pictured is the dining room that seats 6. We pulled up two extra chairs and everyone sat comfortably. Everyone was in character and we felt transported back in time. Clean up and close out was very straight forward. The house was the key to the party success and I am so glad I found it.

Amazing

We absolutely loved the place! The kids didn’t want to leave, they had so many rooms to explore and enjoyed just lounging around and relaxing. The house is beautiful, huge and was very clean! We were provided plenty of towels and soap. The kitchen also provided everything we needed to cook a meal. We would definitely love to stay again in the near future!

Charming Home!

I stayed at Sugar Magnolia House for a weekend with some friends for a girl’s trip. The property owner was so kind and helpful. The house was decorated beautifully and the historic notes were preserved really well. We loved exploring everything and enjoyed time in what we coined the “red room.” So fun!

Unique stay

We had everything we needed in a unique setting. My family loved looking at all the odds and ends at Sugar Magnolia House. We enjoyed playing the old records and admiring the history. Girls Trip for Concert.

Love this beautiful home. The home has a wonderful 1920s feel. The house was clean, the kitchen had everything needed to make a meal and bed’s were comfortable. Plus plenty of towels in each room. The historical home is about 2 miles away from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena which was perfect for our trip. The lovely front porch with swing and the sitting area in the back yard make a great place to enjoy your morning coffee which was provided.

I have always loved historic houses. They have so much charm and individuality. Each home is unique in its beauty. The canopy of oaks trees and Crepe Myrtles adds to the old-world charm. The neighborhood is very walkable and close to downtown.

Our home has quite a storied past. It was built in 1912 for Dr. James H. Duer and his wife Mary, however, the home’s most interesting history began in 1920 when it was dedicated as the Cuban Consulate. An opening day commemorative document signed by then-President Woodrow Wilson is displayed in the foyer. Consul Julio Embil and his wife Mary Magdelene Morris resided in the home from 1920 until 1960. Their daughter Ruth Jacqueline Morris married Harry M. Liechty in the front parlor on June 11, 1924. The Embils were tremendous patrons of the arts and often hosted famous international stage actors and opera stars from Spain.
