"Southern Soul" is the perfect vacation retreat on North Carolina's Outer Banks. Southern Shores is a peaceful residential community 1.5 miles south of the shops and restaurants in Duck, NC. Short walk (5 min.) to lifeguarded private beach access exclusively for Southern Shores residents and their guests (see pictures). This comfortable home accommodates 8 people, with 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and a spacious great room. There are large decks off of the 2nd and 3rd floors with plenty of seating. The fenced-in 27' x 12' in-ground private pool with seating for 8 is a great place to spend time with your family and friends on those warm sunny days. Under house parking plus a large area for 2-3 more vehicles/boat. Other features of the home include:

- Keyless entry on the ground level

- Level 1: Master bedroom w/ queen and bath w/ shower; bedroom w/ queen; bedroom w/ 2 twin beds; hall bath w/ tub-shower; hall laundry closet w/ washer/dryer.

- Level 2: Bedroom w/ queen; hall bath w/ shower; Great room w/ queen sleep sofa, 46" TV, kitchen, dining table w/seating for 8. Sliding glass doors to large deck.

Great vacation home

Our vacation was amazing! Your home is beautiful with so many extra details. The location was fantastic. We plan on returning for another OBX vacation. This year was very special because our first grandson 7 months was with us. Next year hopefully we will vacation with our second grandson.

Perfect Southern Shores Beach House

Southern Soul was the perfect beach house for our family’s vacation. The home is very comfortable; plenty of space, fully stocked kitchen, clean pool. Renovations are looking great. Above all the location was amazing. We wheeled our wagon over to the beach every morning, which was so easy at the street light crosswalk, took no more than 10 mins from house to beach. We rode bikes into town for coffees and ice cream. We’ve stayed at many OBX rentals and this one is our new favorite! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Great place!

This is the second year our family has stayed at Southern Soul. We love the location! It's walking/biking distance to Duck, the beach access has showers to rinse at which was super helpful with little ones. It's also in the edge of a neighborhood that is great to walk in. They have remodeled the house since we were here last time and it's beautifully decorated and updated. We also love that there is a food pantry which seems like a small thing but a lot of houses we've stayed at before in OBX have nowhere to put food so the counters are cluttered with nowhere to prepare the food. Would definitely recommend this house. The host was very quick to respond to any questions I had.

Great getaway

Property is very convenient to public beach access. The pool is wonderful. You're on the corner of the main drag, so there is traffic noise, but you dont really hear it inside. The light on the corner is nice for being able to make left turns during heavy traffic times. House was nice & had plenty of room for our group of 4. Nicely stocked kitchen too.

Great location

We loved the house and location! Even though you are on the main road, it feels more secluded because your nestled in a bunch of trees. You hear the traffic but it still feels private. The house was clean and nicely decorated. We didn't get to use a lot of the outdoor spaces due to the weather but there are several decks to sit on. Pool was perfect. We would stay here again for sure!

Incredible vacation

This was our first time in the OBX. We took our daughter and her family including her two toddlers. “Southern Soul” did exactly what we were hoping it would. Staying at this wonderful house provided a week of incredible, lasting memories for our family. The house was located across the street from the beach. It was about a 7 minute walk total although there is a civic association parking lot in which house guests can use. The house itself was exactly what we needed. There is plenty of space inside as well as multiple areas outside to sit, play games, eat, etc. The private pool was VERY clean and refreshing. There are many pool toys as well as beach items such as chairs and a beach cart. Probably the most appreciated part of this stay was how well the owners communicated answers to a few questions we had prior to arriving as well as a simple one we had once we arrived. My hope is that we can one day stay there again. We are extremely grateful that we were allowed this week with family at “Southern Soul.”. Thank you again, Jay and Lisa.

Cute retreat

We really enjoyed this property and it’s location. It was super easy to check in and book. The host does a great job covering all those details. Having a house with a pool close to the beach and duck was a treat. My only constructive feedback is some amenities could really use an update. In our welcome email this was addressed saying it will be done at end of season. I do hope it is. There were only two tvs in the house. One in the main living room and in master. The tv in the master is too small and too far away from bed. It was honestly comical bec the tv was so small it was hard to see. It would be nice for all the bedrooms to have an appropriate size tv. Now should that deter you from booking this house, absolutely not. It was a great property and a great experience overall and I think the host is already on top of this issue or so I hope. Thank you for our stay.

Don't Hesitate, Book!

This is our third year for our family beach trip and I can say, we will definitely book this house again. Host: Jay was amazing throughout the process. He was communicative, detailed, and available when needed. We had a couple questions early on and Jay responded immediately! Thank you Jay for an amazing experience! House: You cannot ask for better! The house is spacious, laid out well, and recently renovated. There are plenty of beach/pool toys available. The pool was the perfect size for our group and our 7 year old LOVED it! It should be noted that you'll need to bring your own sheets, pillow cases, and towels. Location: Absolutely perfect, the pictures don't do it justice. The beach access (which you get a parking pass for) is private for residences. We never had trouble finding parking or a spot on the beach. The house is the first house off the road, but when you're inside, you cannot hear the road traffic! In addition, you're only a short distance from Duck! It's nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of Kitty Hawk. Cleanliness: Overall, the house was in great shape. I marked 4 stars only because there was a bunch of sand in the entrance and in the kids bedroom. In addition, there were still some food crumbs under the kitchen table and in the living room. We were able to clean it up quick enough and I know how hard sand is to get out ;-) Though we were sad to leave, we are already planning our next booking! Thank you again for an amazing experience!

Great place

We loved our stay here at Beats Working. The noise of route 12 can sometimes be a bit loud, but the walk to the beach can’t be beat for this price point!! SUPER convenient. Plus you’re in between the main roads of Kitty Hawk and the cramped roads of Duck. In the calm, quiet part. Having the pool was such a wonderful bonus, too. There’s so much space in the house, and it has everything you need, without being cluttered. Wonderful place, wonderful location, wonderful host.

Great Place and location!

Great place. Beach was close and having the pool was a nice bonus. House was well equipped and very spacious. Very easy check in and NO crazy checkout rules or cleaning demands. We enjoyed our stay!

Southern Shores

We enjoyed our stay at Southern Shores! The house set up was perfect for my spouse and I, plus our two teens who each brought a friend. It is also conveniently located near many stores. The pool was used daily. And the beach was fantastic! The property is next to Route 12 which was very busy on the weekend but learned to plan our outings around it. Bill was easy to communicate with and very helpful with our needs. Thank you for a great vacation!
