WOW, vilken topp på åsen! Hemlock Point är en Appalachian Log Homes-stuga byggd i det vackra av Appalachian-stilen. Fyrkantiga stockar som påminner om de skotska irländska nybyggarna på 1700-talet får dig att känna dig som om du har gått tillbaka till en tidigare tid. Utsikten över bergskanten från detta timmerhus är fenomenal. Vindarna av uppfriskande bergsluft är spännande. Om du tittar ut över 7 till 9 åsar (beror på dagen) kan du föreställa dig hur det såg ut för "första nationernas" folk och tidiga bosättare som såg det för första gången. Daniel Boone korsade dessa bergskedjor och bodde bara några mil bort på floden Yadkin. Du kommer säkert att tro att Gud arbetade för att bygga all berömets beröm. The cabin served us well as our come home to sleep spot from days at Merlefest. We love staying at Leatherwood and have done so for over 20 years every time we travel back for it.

Hemlock Point felt like a hug when we walked through the front door--it's such a cozy home! Despite a busy weekend, we got plenty of relaxation thanks to fresh foothills air drifting through a few windows, the long-distance mountain views from either of the porches or balcony, and the natural surroundings. The night sky views on clear nights are amazing, and the last sunset was spectacular! Every room in the cabin was clean, there are plenty of towels and wash cloths, the kitchen is well-stocked, the beds were comfy, and some of the decor gave us interesting things to learn and admire. The younger generation in our party enjoyed the hot tub on a cool night as well.We hope to stay here again--we loved every minute of our stay at Hemlock Point. Thanks so much to the hosts!

The cabin and location were beautiful. However, it was very obvious that nobody had been there to check the condition of the cabin prior to us arriving. There was mouse poop literally everywhere, in the kitchen, the bathrooms, floor. We had to clean prior to being able to relax. We did reach out to the owner who told us someone would be by in the morning—but no one showed. We were given 2 door codes for entry. One the keypad was dead. The cabin has such potential but it needs a very good cleaning first.

The cabin was older; no problem, but the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. There were dead bugs under the master bedroom bed (photo available), while a leftover sexual toy was in the downstairs bedroom. The grill on the back deck was in pieces - I attempted to put it together so we could grill but it was too nasty to use and the left burner would not ignite (photo available). In the kitchen, the coffee pot had a leftover filter inside that had mold growing on it! Also, make sure you are advised about the “game room,” which is locked and not available. Many electrical outlets did not work and need replacing. The location was wonderful, however, there was much neglect with inspecting the cabin and making sure it was ready to rent. The owners did respond quickly to questions and the resort itself was nice.

Such A Relaxing Stay

If your coming to Boon or Wilkesboro to relax this is the place to stay. A very well-stocked cabin, and a great place to get away from it all. We came up for Merlfest and this was a perfect retreat from festival life. The views were breathtaking and you might even get a peek of a ton of stars at night. Can't wait to come back on our next adventure to the area.

We come here at least once a year. We enjoy the cabin. I would only make one suggestion. Please replace upstairs bath doorknob as it is broken every time we come.

Nice cabin

The cabin was nice, but the hotub needed a new filter. There was debris after we turned the bubbles on and no chlorine in the water. Overall we loved the cabin, they have everything you need there. We had trouble getting in the gate, we were only sent a door code and couldnt get back on the site to contact the property manager. There is no cell service here, eventually we able to use wifi... beautiful place, beautiful view, nice quiet getaway... we will be back!!

Remote hideaway for romantic getaway

My friend and I came up for the weekend for a romantic getaway. We really enjoyed our time in the cabin. The hot tub was nice. The king bed slept well. It is a distance from Boone or Blowing Rock, but I liked the remoteness. However, there was WiFi and no problems with connection. We did cook breakfast and dinner. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to use the grill. The only negatives which weren't really negative was I got a little concerned about check-in but did get the information the night before and Ms. Ellis apologized. And I thought we would have access to the basement since picture was included but we did not. In the end, we were too busy to even utilize. We definitely plan on staying again.

Weekend Getaway

I have been burning the candle at both ends lately and just needed a quick weekend getaway to the mountains. Although the home was older, it was clean. The area was remote which is what I was looking for. The views were as advertised and perfect for recharging the battery. The wifi worked perfectly which was good since I didn't have cell service. Make sure you check your messages before you leave to get the gate code. I didn't do this, and the lack of cell service made getting to the property problematic. Also, I'm glad I stopped by the grocery to pick up some essentials before I left. There really weren't any stores or restaurants close by. That was okay with me, though. The peace, beauty, and tranquility of the property made it a perfect weekend.

Mountain vacation 2023

Upon check in, we were expecting to use the gas fireplace and relax with friends on a long awaited vacation. We further inspected the gas fireplace and gas tank to discover the tank was empty. So the entire stay (cool weather mind you) we couldn't use the fireplace. We were told by the owners basically nothing could be done. The cleaning crew could have done a better job before our stay. Lots of dirty windows and hand prints on glass doors. We didn't use the hot tub the first night and we're glad we didn't. It was dirty with leaves and debris floating around. The cabin was rustic and authentic. The area was beautiful. We would suggest however looking at some of the door knobs for problems. The furniture was a little dated and uncomfortable. We will not stay here again.

View not as advertised

The view was not as advertised. There was a nice mountain view from one window, not all the windows as the ad says. The refrigerator had food left in it and the kitchen counters had not been wiped down. Screens on the porch are torn, decking is very worn. The house is very noisy, you can hear all sounds from one bedroom to the other. Very nice neighborhood. We only stayed 3 nights (supposed to be a week). The owner gave us a minimal refund, not the same amount we had paid, even after several discussions regarding access (instructions were wrong), cleanliness and lack of view. The write up is very misleading. We drove many hours to get there and were quite disappointed. Would NOT recommend this house!

Not so fresh

This home is in a wonderful gated community. Real mountain feel. FYI, some steep parts driving up and the driveways itself, so keep that in mind during colder months and especially depending what kind of car you have. Unfortunately upon entering we were met with a strong urine odor. We discovered that a septic room in the basement was overflowing into the floor. There were bugs all over the floor along the edges of the septic closet. We informed the owner, and were told they would have someone come out. The issue of the smell persisted. It put a damper on the weekend and if I had been given advanced warning or the option to leave I would have. Additionally the couches are a little musty. The hot tub has seen better days. Replacing the headrests would be nice.

We booked this stay for Thursday-Sunday for myself, my husband, and our son. Upon arrival-the cabin was very nice. We did have trouble getting into the gate, I finally was able to connect to WiFi and find the gate code buried in a message. My own mistake for not reading more carefully before we got there. The listing shows pictures of the basement area, however this section was locked for us. Not a huge deal, but something that is a bit misleading in the photos. We noticed when we got there that some of the windows were missing screens. We only noticed because the screens were stacked against the wall of the screened in porch-but we didn’t think much of it. Friday night the temps dropped and that’s when we discovered an issue with this. Every window that was missing a screen had stink bugs working their way in. We spent the rest of our time in the cabin trying to get rid of them. I messaged the property owner Friday night (after 10, so I didn’t expect a response that same night). I never heard back from her. We checked out Sunday morning and never got anything either in response or regarding check out procedures. Things happen that are outside of the owner’s control sometimes and I would typically be forgiving on something like this-but when you don’t respond at all, that changes things. It was a peak weekend and most things were booked up or had a highly inflated price-so we toughed it out. But had we had another option, we would have stayed elsewhere Saturday night.

Dissapointing

When we checked in their was 100 worms crawling/dead on the floor in the basement. We left to go out. The owner sent the cleaner back to vacuum. Their were still worms crawling and the carpet was so filthy as if dogs have peed/pooped everywhere. The owner said the worms are expected at leather mountains. Lets be clear this cabin is not inside leather mountauns resort. I met so many people that were staying there and i asked if they had the worms as the owner had told me. They all were shocked and said no but that they would hire terminix to rid of any issues so that let me know that the owner does not upkeep this residence. I solemnly rented this cabin for the gameroom for my 6 year old son and it was ruined for him bc it was infested with worms. We stayed gone the whole trip from the cabin basically. It says no smoking but the cabin smelled of smoke. I let the owner know all this then she eventually stop responding to my text. The living room chair is broken and very uncomfortable. A board was under the cushions. Then when we went to bed we slept in the loft. The highest room up for fear of the worms climbing up. The bed frame was broken. The bed sunk in in the middle. Everytime you moved in the bed you could hear the board hitting the floor. I was to afraid to look under it to see what was going on with the bed. They had so much stuff under the bed to hold it up so I assume they knew of the bed being broken. We were so glad to leave this place. We left at 8am.

Wonderful

Hemlock Point is well stocked with everything a person could need. It is clean and comfy. The community is quiet and the views are spectacular. My only critique would be the need for a new couch in the main living area. Aside from that, it's perfect for a mountain retreat!

Just what we needed!

Thank you for your hospitality! Staying at Hemlock Point was perfect for our entire family. The location on top of the mountain was beautiful from all sides, the deck and outdoor fireplace were enjoyed more than any room in the house, horseback riding was an adventure, and everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. We can’t wait to go back again! Thank you!

Great Little Cabin

The cabin was amazing. I took my handicap Father and Mother. The views were so incredible. I highly recommend the cozy little cabin for a small family. The kitchen could use a few pots and pans with lids.

In 1997 we made a leap of faith and purchased our first property at Leatherwood Mountains Resort. We appreciated Leatherwood Mountain's concept of stewardship in creating a human presence but maintaining the wilderness for all generations. Our 16 acres at the center of 4000 protected acres will always be a home for God's creatures. Our views across the mountains will pretty much be the same for our lives and the lives of those that come after us. The North Carolina High Country in northeastern N C has a tremendous cultural history that speaks to our interests. The beauty and availability of wilderness areas soothes our souls. We feel very blessed to have found our spot that brings all of our loves together.

Mountain life was part and parcel to the environment...the home was made from trees, the scene taken in was of God's handiwork, everything was slower and more deliberate in nature; one heard the cicadas, saw the stars in the night sky, witnessed the morning sunrise. We want there to be a place left in this busy world to relish nature. Take a horse back ride through the mountains. The square Hemlock logs, gas fireplace, rustic wood cabinets and antiques, including a claw foot tub, are all meant to give you the true North Carolina mountain settler cabin experience.
