This one of a kind spot is located on the beautiful Sassafras River. Tranquility mixed with nature at its best on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. This cozy stone cottage offers the perfect place to relax and enjoy time with loved ones, family or friends. It is perfect for a couples get-away. It is situated on one acre and is a stone's throw from the river. From watching a passing boat, to bird watching, fishing or kyacking , there is plenty to admire and enjoy. It offers a full kitchen including quartzite countertops, stove/oven , microwave and refrigerator/freezer. There is one bedroom with a TV and a queen sofa bed in open floor plan. There is a knotty pine board ceiling thru out the cottage. The bathroom features a glass shower with a pebble stone floor. The magnificent view from the large windows is fantastic. A swing from the tree is relaxing along with the andirondack chairs near the fire- pit. A table and chairs for dinner sits beautifully on the porch near the barbecue grill.

The cottage was a great location and Tami is a wonderful person as well as a great hostess. Check—in was seamless; all the water toys (kayaks etc.) were in excellent condition, and the furnishing were very comfortable.

This was a return visit for us, and the cottage is as nice or even better than we remember it from last year. I'm hesitant to list all the positives, as we would like to keep this place our secret. The cottage is designed for a couple only, and is well-stocked with excellent amenities. The view from the living room is as if you are right on the river. It is kept extremely clean and lots of kitchen extras provided. The hosts are lovely people.If you like to float or paddle on kayaks on a calm, quiet river loaded with bald eagles, osprey, herons, and other birds, you could not do better. Riverside Cottage is a magical place.

Gorgeous, relaxing, fun, perfect

We had a beautiful mini-break at the river house. Planning with Tami was quick and easy, and finding the property simple and clear. We stayed 3 nights and hope to return in the future, probably next time with our 2 kids.The property is more beautiful than photos suggest. Everything was spotless and thoughtful with many little touches like a notebook and pens, an umbrella, makeup removal pads, to-go coffee cups in addition to mugs, extra blanets, adorable decor, etc. We comfortably cooked half of our meals there including grilling. We slept with the windows open 2 nights and were comfortable during the day using the AC in very hot weather.The best parts were the views from the huge windows and the outdoor spaces-- comfortable seating around the firepit, manicured landscaping, 2-person bench swing, dock with built-in bench, and covered outdoor dining area. We used the very convenient peddleboat and kayaks, and swam in the very warm river. Sunrises and sunsets, TV with access to anything we might want, lovely walks past luxury homes, wildflower fields, deer and rabbits, and farm fields. We saw hawks, vultures, and even a bald eagle. There were tons of spiders outside around the property, which maybe explained the lack of mosquitoes or other bothersome bugs.Tami and her husband breifly visited, which was lovely, and even offered a river cruise on Bill's pontoon boat.We enjoyed an afternoon exploring Chesapeake City and delicious dinner at Deep Blue at Kitty Knight.

Lovely River Life

Beautiful little cottage on the river! Loved staying here for a few days and enjoying the peace and quiet of this secluded spot. The home is newly redone, well appointed and highlights the river views. We enjoyed the kayaks and the paddle boat and then rested in between explorations on the shady tree swing. Very relaxing overall!

Relax on the river

Great location to relax and enjoy nature. We kayaked up and down the river and actually caught fish. Our host was terrific and made our stay very comfortable. We'll be back.

Great Little House

It was our first time on the Sassafras and we intend on returning. The house is perfect for a 2 person stay. The house has been updated beautifully and also provides a great view of the river. There are kayaks available and dock to fish from. Everything about the stay was great.

We just spent two and half days of peace, quiet and tranquility at Riverside Cottage, a much-needed respite from the noise of Northern Virginia, thanks to Tami and Bill, perfect weather and the beautiful and meandering Sassafras River. Thank you for the lovely balloons and delicious cake to celebrate my husband's birthday; that was such a wonderful way to start our stay!

Absolutely wonderful! We are already looking forward to a return visit. The view out of the windows is special; the entire setting is special. I could have sat on the tree swing for hours watching the swallows sailing and dipping over the river. There is a lot of wildlife, and it's a great place to kayak. Very nice kitchen and bathroom, and the porch is a great place to shelter and enjoy a passing thunderstorm. The owners: they are extremely gracious, generous, and helpful.

Wonderful Cottage

We truly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Our host, Tami, volunteered to meet us upon our arrival to give us some tips for our kayaking. We brought our own kayaks but there are several available along with paddles and vests. The cottage is bright with windows looking out over the river and there is a broad lawn with chairs to relax that has a firepit. The inside is clean and modern with wood ceilings and floors. Everything you need is provided including all linens as well as beach towels. We will visit there again for sure, and we recommend it to others without any hesitation. Absolutely no complaints, only compliments.

Truly amazing!

The Riverside Cottage is exceptionally clean, well maintained with little touches to make it feel like a home away from home. Tami our host left birthday balloons and a birthday cake which was a lovely surprise. Fishing was great during our time there, we caught eight catfish. Sitting outside on the swing and listening to the sounds of nature was so relaxing. We would definitely recommend this VRBO for anyone seeking peace and tranquility on the river.

Weekend Getaway

What a beautiful place! It has all the comforts of home. Views of the Sassafras River are phenomenal. We traveled to Chestertown for farmers market & lunch at the Fish Whistle! It was a great weekend.

Great honeymoon stay!

My wife and I choose this little cottage by the river as a great way to “decompress” before going on our overseas honeymoon to Europe - it was amazing! Tami gave us flowers, balloons, and two bottles of champagne to congratulate us - she goes above and beyond all expectations, and I highly recommend choosing her for your next trip!
