Houston Storm 05/16/24

We had the Vrbo scheduled for May16th- May20th. We arrived and checking in on the 16th. We had been there for an hour when the tornado came through Houston that was very bad and knocked out power in our area of the Vrbo. (I saw the lightning stuck the electric cords through the window of the room closes to the kitchen.) I messaged the property owner.. no answer. I then called Vrbo so we could just get refunded and find a hotel because we were not going to be able to do the whole trip with no electricity. They then told me they don’t control any refunds and that I would have to contact the property owner and gave me his phone number. I called him, he was not understanding or accommodating AT ALL. He told us that it was out of his control. I then asked for a refund because it was not safe for us to stay there. He said it’s not my fault… I responded it’s not ours either!! He proceeded to say he was going to call the city and get back with me. HE NEVER DID!! HE WENT COMPLETELY GHOST!!!! I texted him and called off of different numbers and all NO ANSWER!!! We left the Vrbo about and 30 minutes after the storm and got our hotel. We still have not heard from him, so I will be getting my lawyer involved!!! The rental property is VERY small. Living room and bathroom were so SMALL u could only turn in a circle like a rotisserie chicken and the bathroom sink is smaller than a drinking fountain!There are also cameras on the property which in our case is good but it’s not mentioned.

Overall an alright experience

We frequently stay at property rentals. I enjoyed that they had more than just the basic roll of toilet paper and they have the house stocked with actual kitchen supplies which was awesome. The property was also very clean. My only complaint is the advertisement made it seem like we had a private backyard and the unit is a duplex so we thought the unit below us was empty and we could just cut through the unit. There were occupants staying down there. One to have both units being used at the same time and not changing the codes is dangerous. We are two women imagine that happening to us while we were sleeping. Also was kind of let down about the backyard it has a grill and table. Luckily for us they owned the property next door as well so we did get to use the backyard only problem is it only had a table and chairs so we could only sunbathe. The property has a camera in the front which is smart however I always feel like it’s sneaky to not let your occupants know ahead of time on the listing that video recording is happening. Overall the place was comfy for me and my friend the place was clean it was great. Just a little let down about some of the false advertisement
