A Treat of a Retreat!

This was a great location for a three-generation family gathering during spring break. While it was too cool to use the swimming pool, the spa was inviting, and the outdoor patio was comfortable and relaxing. Grounds are really gorgeous!The kitchen is well-appointed, so we enjoyed cooking in. Nights of games, cards, puzzles added to our fun. The common areas were perfect for eight-ten people, and bedrooms were warm and private. Trips to the coast, nearby Garland Park, The Aquarium in Monterey, and Carmel offered plenty of daytime activities. I can’t imagine a better place to spend a week.Our host answered all questions promptly and thoroughly. The information book was the best I’ve seen all my vrbo experiences!

Wonderful experience

Absolutely enjoyed this beautiful and peaceful spot. Outdoor pool area was very enjoyable. House and beds were clean and very comfortable. Pictures on vrbo don’t do this place justice.

Everything was fantastic! The kids and adults loved the pool and the hot tub. The house was well equipped and Chuck was a fantastic host. Would stay there again for sure.

This is a very nice house with plenty of space for family. The owner let us come in early and it was appreciated. Note: no fence around pool. Kitchen well equipped. It is old but has everything you need

Great family vacation

A wonderful spot, perfect for adults and children. Pool and hot tub were much used. The valley is so scenic and numerous attractions close by. May well visit again if possible.

Stunning grounds, cozy home, delightful stay

The photos dont do it justice, the pool, hot tub and garden are stunning! We had a very peaceful stay, the home is cozy and family-like with a custom feeling home. Not a single piece of IKEA furniture to be found as is typical in rental homes! The home feels like an inviting retreat. We loved our stay and would come back

Truly a RETREAT!

Listing was just as described and perfectly laid out for two families traveling together (one in main house and one in guest cottage). Kitchen was well-equipped. House was spotless. Yard was private and pool & hot tub were lovely and well-enjoyed by our family. Location close to Carmel Valley Village was lovely! Great spot -- would definitely stay agin!

Unique property

Our group of 10 enjoyed our stay. Pool was awesome and got lots of use. We had everything we needed for our stay. Communication with host was great. Cons: Air conditioner in main house doesn’t cool house on a hot day and no air conditioner in guest house. We did have an issue with spiders and insects and could not leave doors open in evening to help cool house.

So Enjoyable!

Loved this property! Used it as a base for a multi-day wedding event at Holly Farms. The zen feel was so relaxing. Every morning we were greeted by deer grazing in the garden. The kitchen was well-stocked and had everything we needed for a few casual meals "at home." Would love to stay again.

Perfect for a wedding!

This property is beyond spectacular! It is everything plus more than meets the eye! The kids loved the pool and hot tub! In fact, we did too! All in all it was perfect for 3 families plus kids to share! I would give it a TEN out of ten stars….. it was that good!!

Wonderful place!

My family of 8 adults has happily stayed at this peaceful place twice a year for family reunions, for a number of years. It is beautiful, out of the fog zone of Carmel but close enough for easy visiting; near excellent restaurants, but with all the supplies for preparing meals. There are plenty of spaces for both privacy and for visiting. We have had many happy weekends there. Five bedrooms give good options. Very comfortable and "homey". I absolutely recommend this place!

Communication with owners was thorough, home had all the amenities that could need My children (adult and teens) along with our parents enjoyed ourselves. Be advised to sort your garbage REALLY good!

Perfect getaway

This beautiful property was fantastic for our multi-generational family trip! Even with inclement weather, there was plenty of room to spread out and the tranquil setting was just perfect. The location was great for day trips to Monterey, Santa Cruz, Carmel, and Point Lobos (don’t miss this gem!), and the nearby town had some yummy places for dinner. The house was well appointed and warm, and we enjoyed every second here. Thank you so much for opening your house to us! We hope to come back another time!

Enchanted

Members of my family kept using the words magical and enchanted! The house was designed so that nine adults could spread out, or come together, as the occasion dictated. The landscaping provided multiple areas, each with a different feel, for relaxing, meditating, or group gatherings. There were even different “views” around the pool area. Even with all the relaxing, we still found time for karaoke and card games! We definitely enjoyed our stay.

Pros: -Exterior pool/yard area is very serene, peaceful, and relaxing -While the house interior finishes are dated, they are in good condition and provide a cozy ambience -Loved the location. Very close to village and restaurants, yet still removed from traffic and congestion Cons: -House does not have a master bedroom suite -The guest house has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. To access the bathroom from the second bedroom you need to cross the first bedroom. Not a practical floor plan layout -Guest house did not have central heating. Interior got cold at night

Family Christmas

We, a family of 9 adults and one baby, spent Christmas at the Carmel Valley Retreat Home. It was the perfect house to accommodate 4 couples and one single adult. We all had our own space to retreat to whether we were earlier risers, or late night chatters. The living room, dining room and kitchen provided plenty of room to gather as a family. The outdoor space is magnificent. Everyone loved cooking in the well stocked kitchen. There are plenty of cooking utensils, pots, pans, serving pieces, etc. We loved sharing brunch and dinner each day. The weather was fabulous, enabling us to enjoy Christmas brunch poolside on the gorgeous deck. I cannot say enough about the landscaping, it is outstanding. It was unanimous, we all want to return. There are wonderful parks in the area for afternoon hikes and excursions.

We lived in this wonderful home from 1976 until 1986. During that time we fully remodeled this wonderful classic Carmel Valley post adobe home. In 1999 we completely furnished the home and set it up as a vacation rental so we could spend time there ourselves as well as let others enjoy the peace and tranquility it offers. It is our art piece and escape. Everyone who has stayed there loves it and we now have many yearly returning families and groups.
