Detta är en sann villa på en 1 hektar stor egendom mellan Hwy 1 och havet. Vänligen klicka på videonikonen längst upp till vänster. Carmel Highlands ligger 5 minuter från centrala Carmel. Pebble Beach och Aquarium ligger 15 minuter bort. Carmel var i början av 1900-talet till stor del ett konstnärsgemenskap. Många artister kämpade, den framgångsrika bodde på högländerna. Highlands är början på Big Sur som fortsätter på ytterligare 100 miles. Villan är lantlig men den är inte isolerad, gå till Highlands General Store, 5 minuter till middag i centrum. Reser 1 minut söder om villan och kusten förändras dramatiskt. Många underbara havsutsikt från villaens yttergård. Pt. Lobos State Reserve ligger mycket nära för miles av vandringar. Du kan utforska för evigt.
Villan byggdes 1953 och rekonstruerades 2005. Rekonstruktionen uppdaterade och ombyggde villaen för att återställa känslan av gammal Kalifornien, som de 250 åriga mexikanska bågarna och handskuren sovrumsdörrar från Junipero Serras dagar. På andra sidan gatan är en stuga som Bob Dylan och Joan Baez brukade stanna kvar på 60-talet. Kom och upplev Magic of Carmel Highlands.
Perfekt för familjeåterförening och födelsedagar med fem sovrum och 9 sängar. Det finns en formell matsal för din familj eller ett uteservering utanför matsalen med ett eget bord för 20. Badtunnan är en varm vår, Cadillac av spa med Moto Massage och twirling jets. Vandra grunderna och trädgårdarna på nivån ett tunnland gods och spela volleyboll på baksidan gräsmattan om du vill. Foto möjligheter överflöd under stenbågarna eller däcken med havet och berggrottorna i bakgrunden bara några hundra meter bort, gör inte avstånd för en avlägsen titt på en fläck av blå, vid Villa ser du i vattnet vågorna Går in och ut ur havgrottorna på Bird Rock. Hör sjölejonbarken, lukta havsluften, se vågkraschen, vandra de många trädgårdarna med Stilla havet i din trädgård. Vädret vid havet kan bäst beskrivas som två säsonger av våren och två säsonger av hösten. Det kan vara 110 grader inlands, men temperaturen på höglandet överstiger sällan 70 grader.

The best

Amazing property and location. Easy in and out to everything Carmel has to offer. Every evening we spent cooking out and enjoying our family. The house is beautiful and unique with character throughout. Everything worked as anticipated and it was very clean, well maintained. A pleasure to stay there.

Lovely Place

Mixed experience

Loved the decor and furnishings of the house, had that old world lived in feeling. Very nicely set up with interesting articles of decor and pictures everywhere. However, on the practical side, when we arrived (April) the house was very cold and did not get warm for another 24 hours, really uncomfortable. My biggest complaint is that there were no window coverings on the 6 windows in the master bedroom! Resulting in us being awakened by the light coming in at 5:30 - 6 a.m. for the 4 mornings we were there. I actually left feeling more tired for lack of sleep, than when we arrived. Whoever cleaned the house did not do a good job. Quite a few cobwebs and dust. Counter in the kitchen was sticky. The placemats for kitchen use were not clean at all, some food sticking on to them from previous renters. The coffee grinder that was supposed to be in the kitchen never did show up. Our 4 coffee drinkers were not happy. Heads up if staying in the area next year, check dates for the Big Sur marathon. This year it took place last weekend of April. Unfortunately for us a brass band, supporters and food tables were all set up right outside the house. Band started playing at 7:30 a.m. The really bad part was, we could not get out of the house until noon. Road was closed to traffic. We had planned to attend the11:00 a.m. services at Carmel Mission, but were stuck at the house until all of the participants came through. As I said, very mixed experience. If I thought the house would be cleaner, warmer and definitely have window coverings I would go back, but the manager needs to do a much better job of making sure everything is as it should be.

Beautiful villa in Carmel Highlands

This is a perfect property for a family holiday gathering. Point Lobos Reserve is nearby, beaches, and hiking trails. We visited the Monterey Aquarium and played volleyball and soccer in the back yard. We enthusiastically recommend this propert.y.

Eclectic wonderful property

Family group of 8 stayed here from a wedding weekend visiting from Florida. Location was easy to find and convenient to Carmel and Monterey, also easy access to run down to Big Sur. We used the kitchen and outdoor grill one night and everything was provided to make a large group meal. Internet access is sometimes spotty but overall consistent and you will need it as cell service can be limited. House and furniture are bit dated but overall comfortable, warm and inviting. I'd recommend this place and would stay here again

Charm, Grace & Great Space! OH MY!

When searching for accommodations for my family, it was a bit of a challenge. With 3 generations staying under one roof, I wanted to make sure each family had their own space while also having large enough common areas to allow everyone to spend quality time together. My elderly parents had their own room with plenty of space for them to escape from the noise & ruckus of the little ones when they needed to rest. My brother’s family stayed in the room with the smaller downstairs room off of it - perfect for a family with two little ones. My sister & 18-month-old nephew had their own room. And, my family & I were upstairs, with my two teenagers. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect house for all of us to stay in! The weather was a bit chilly & overcast with a thick marine layer for the entire 4 days we were in Carmel. But, it wasn’t so bad that we couldn’t get out & about. The Villa is so close to everything. On one of the days, we went to Sunday Mass at the mission & explored the town. On another day, we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium & meandered about Cannery Row. There was/is just so much to do in the area! (BTW… The antique stores are awesome!) It was nice to come back to a space that allowed everyone to unwind & not be on top of each other. The jacuzzi broke down before we got there & wouldn’t be fixed until after our trip, so we couldn’t soak after the long days of walking. John let us know ahead of time. However, it would’ve been nice to hop into the jacuzzi after all the little ones were in bed each night with some wine or cocktails. Nonetheless, all the other great aspects of the house made up for it! The Villa marries the charms of an older property with all the modern amenities we’re used to. The TV’s have all the essential streaming services and the WiFi was a must for the teenagers (& the hubs who was still semi-working during our trip). Everything was exactly as described and was perfect for our family’s needs. My family is talking about making this a yearly trip since we all had such a wonderful time! Thank You, John, for your hospitality & great communication! We cannot wait to come back again!

Our family of 10 enjoyed a very good stay.

There were a few problems considering the high rental and cleaning fees. On arrival no WiFi but fixed next day. Fridge not cleaned - filled with used condiments. Stove not cleaned. Gas barbecue not cleaned. Minimal gas supplied ( 2 gas bottles. One empty and one 1/4 full - ran out! ) Dish washer did not satisfactorily clean crockery and cutlery. Hot tub jets did not work. Highway one significant delays due to roadworks. Problem not communicated prior to booking.

Wonderful Unique Property

We had a great family get together at the Villa July 21st to the 28th with five adults and five children. The property is amazing, unlike any vacation rental I have experienced with tremendous furnishings in the home and throughout the property. The yard was beautifully landscaped and a great place for the children to play. We enjoyed day trips to Big Sur, the aquarium, and local beaches. Point Lobos park is fabulous for hiking and observing sea mammals. We did not run out of things to experience and all agreed a return trip may be in order.

Beautiful property inside and out. Close to everything. Property has a lot of character .

We spent a lot of time outside enjoying the beautiful property. We had a family of 9 and it was perfect. We even left some items and they were quickly shipped back to us. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

Perfect for a large group

A group of us came out to Carmel to run the Big Sur Marathon. The house suited our needs perfectly. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck and using the hot tub. We were also able to use the picnic table for a large family style dinner. We loved the house and would love to come back!

Charming eclectic oceanside getaway

I celebrated my 30th birthday weekend here with my closest friends and family. The home is large so it was a little spooky the first night with my just my husband and myself but it was well lit and we quickly settled in. Once everyone else arrived, I was thankful for all the space and each room was set up in a B&B manner with it's own private entrance, bathrooms and amenities which was really convenient and nice. During the day is when the property really shines. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and great for exploring. We had a great time playing badminton and volleyball with the net onsite. We even found a path down to the beach right outside the property which was breathtaking. John and his wife were kind enough to meet us during check in to welcome us and then stopped by the next morning to make sure we had enough propane since they knew we were having a bbq that afternoon. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting with a large group!

Weekend Getaway - Simply Amazing!

This place was so amazing ! The characteristics of this home were simply unbeatable. It had plenty of room for our entire party and the grounds and view of the ocean are beautiful. We couldn’t stop taking pictures, and we still didn’t get to cover all the picture perfect spots! Our kids had a great time playing outside .. so much space for them to run around! Thank you to John and his family for letting us stay in your second home! 😊

The villa was amazing! Clean, well stocked, great location.

We are a party of nine, ranging in age from 7 to 67. The villa had something for all of us, and there was plenty of room. It’s a great house to play hide and seek, and a fabulous place to relax and take in the views. My grandchildren felt like they’d entered “The Lion, Witch, Wardrobe” novel. The location made day trips easy and fun. Overall, loved it!

Beautiful and very comfortable

This house was perfect for our family reunion. All of the rooms were well equipped and accommodating for our large group. The kids played outside the entire time, and because it was fenced it gave us complete peace of mind.

Fantastic property with rustic feeling

We had a 3 generation family reunion (ages 17-88) for 10 for 6 days here and everyone had a great time. The property is beautiful and conveniently located. We spent lots of time on the deck and in yard. The ocean view is a small slice, but still enjoyable. The house itself is nicely renovated and very quaint. The big fireplace was a regular gathering place and we cooked a great dinner one night. There were a few minor issues, but the owner was responsive and none of them interfered with overall enjoyment. Like most places, if you are expecting fancy hotel type accommodations, you should stay at a fancy hotel, if you want a nice, rustic Carmel style place, this is a great choice.

Beautiful

The property fit our family perfectly. Accessing the property was easy and grocery options nearby were sufficient. Owners were very nice and respond quickly to questions, comments, or concerns. We would recommend this property.

Real Estate Developer and a native of Northern California. Nina is a native of Thailand and a Dr. and professor. We have homes in Carmel, Pebble Beach and Bangkok. We enjoy traveling often and love to share our home here in the Carmel Highlands with guests from all over the world.

Varför värden valde detta boende

Love at first sight. Being near the ocean is something I've treasured since my college days in Santa Barbara. The property has a charm and magic seldom experienced on the Central California coast. The villa is the beginning of Big Sur. You can take a short 30 minute excursion on Hwy1 or a day trip down to Hearst Castle stopping to see the Sea Elephants along the way.

Breathe the ocean air ! See the sights, take a walk by the beach.
Play golf at one of a dozen golf courses on the Peninsula. The restaurants are fabulous! The Aquarium should not be missed. The Aquarium is on Cannery Row and is pretty much the way John Stienbeck described. See Big Sur and the 17 Mile Drive. Stop for lunch in Spanish Bay or the Lodge in Pebble Beach. The Monterey Wharf offers whale watching and kayak excursions and some of the best sea food in California. We are always happy to give restaurant recommendations or tell you about an off-the-beaten-path walk along the coast.
