Welcome to Azalea Landing a home nestled in the heart of Brookings, Oregon. This historic beachfront community transports you to a place where time slows down and cherished memories are created.
Brookings is located at the mouth of the Chetco River, marking its position as the southernmost point on the Oregon Coast. Originally confined to only one side of the river, this town expanded across its banks to encompass Harbor, an independent community with its own unique character.
Founded in 1913 as a company town for redwood logging by the California and Oregon Lumber Company (C&O), Brookings emerged near what we once knew as `Chetco,` a small settlement from the late 1890s to early 1900s. The town owes its name to John Brookings, one of C&O`s owners. Interestingly enough, his brother Robert Brookings played a significant role in this venture and established Washington D.C.`s renowned institution that bears their family name.
Intriguingly, it was Robert`s insistence that an overarching architectural theme be adopted for Brookings` key structures. They entrusted the accomplished California architect Bernard Maybeck with designing the buildingsâa testament to their commitment towards creating a harmonious community.

Welcome to the Neighborhood! Our home is located in a quiet neighborhood and close to my favorite park and beach.
Brookings sometimes referred to as the banana belt offers, sandy beaches, beautiful, hiking trails, and close proximity when navigating the town. Summers average in the 70s and winters in the upper 50s and low 60s.
Harris Beach State Park, and Azalea Park are both less than a mile from our home. In addition to the Samuel Boardman, scenic corridor a breathtaking 12 mile protected stretch of Highway 101.
Harris Beach is known for nature enthusiasts, offering a splendid seascape that is sure to take your breath away. As you explore the trails that wind through the park, you'll come across miles of sandy beaches and rocky outcroppings, just waiting to be discovered.
Samuel H Boardman, State Senior Corridor. Is a corridor that stretches 12 miles along the coast, and is full of beautiful scenery. The area is full of amazing views, hiking trails and hidden beaches. You can also walk 27 miles of the Oregon Coast Trail within the corridor. Highlights include Arch Rock (Mile 344.8) , Thunder Rock Cove (Mile 345.8) Indian Sands (Mile 348.6) and Natural Bridges (Mile 346.0). The parking lots usually takes you directly to the view or the viewpoint is just a short walk from the lot.
Azalea Park has easy access paths that take you through breathtaking gardens punctuated by trees and greenery and a childrenâs playground. Â Azaleas, plentiful in this area and the namesake for this park, bloom from April through June and are celebrated during the Azalea Festival, which is held Memorial Day weekend.
