Joys Country Cabin ligger i den vackra böljande kullar, pÄ den södra kanten av Texas Hill Country. Vi Àr bara 10 minuter till antingen New Braunfels, San Marcos eller Seguin och ca 35 minuter till San Antonio eller Austin. Huset har utsikt över en stuga trÀdgÄrd och en liten damm som besöks av vilda djur. InstÀllningen Àr en av rullande hils och smÄ gÄrdar - en lugn, fridfull plats - men det Àr bara nÄgra minuter frÄn shopping, restauranger och sevÀrdheter. Det Àr ett bra stÀlle att semester, smekmÄnad, eller komma undan. Den stora veranda och trÀdgÄrd Àr en idealisk plats att koppla av och varva ner. En kolgrill finns ocksÄ för dem som tycker matlagning utomhus.

I vardagsrummet finns en cirka 1850 s timmerstuga som har blivit omsorgsfullt restaurerat. Resten av huset Àr nybyggt med hjÀlp av gamla material, vilket ger hemmet en charmig, rustik kÀnsla. Det Àr möblerade och inredda med antikviteter land, lapptÀcken och "Texas skatter." Det stora köket, Àr matsal vardagsrum stort nog för din familj att samlas. Köket Àr fullt utrustat med full storlek apparater, grytor och stekpannor, tallrikar och bestick. Hemmet har 3 sovrum. Det stora sovrummet har en queen size-sÀng. Det andra sovrummet har tvÄ dubbelsÀngar och det tredje sovrummet har en dubbelsÀng. Det finns ocksÄ en futon i vardagsrummet.
Huset har all charm som bara en timmerstuga kan ha kombinerat med boende av 21-talet. Det har centralvÀrme och luftkonditionering, satellit-TV och ett grovkök med tvÀttmaskin och torktumlare. SÄ kom besök och uppleva allt som vÄrt land hem har att erbjuda.

OcksÄ pÄ samma 60 hektar stort har vi precis möblerat 100-Äriga bondgÄrd för ett semesterboende. Det ligger pÄ toppen av en kulle och frÄn det finns fantastisk utsikt över landskapet. Den har liknande bekvÀmligheter som Joys Country Cabin och Àr rymligare sÄ det lÀttare kan ta emot större grupper. Ring eller maila för att frÄga om antingen kabinen eller gÄrden.

Mrs. Joy was wonderful in providing all that was needed. She even let us check in early. We had a great time celebrating our Thanksgiving dinner. The home has everything that is needed to stay. Wish we could’ve stayed longer. We enjoyed the swing on the porch. My adult children loved the cabin look. Loved the heater in the bathroom. Kids enjoy looking at the antique decor around the house.

It was a very nice quiet stay in the country. Loved the old antiques in the log cabin. Joy was fantastic to work wit. If you arent a fancy person and like the peacefulness of country but close to the city this place is for you.

Little house on the prairie

We value quiet and this place was it. Surrounded by grassland with grazing cattle we especially enjoyed relaxing on the porch watching the sun rise and the stars coming out at night. Weather was hot but AC kept us nice and comfy. Beds were comfortable. Convenient to Seguin. Met the owners and they were super nice.

Perfect location for the wedding at Harper Hill Ranch

It was great being just a few miles from the wedding location. It's nice, quiet, and relaxing on the front porch, and the place is very well managed. The place is clean and neat, and I will use it again.

Away from hustle and bustle of the city

We stayed there for 3 days with my family and friends. The place is quiet and peaceful. A good place to stay when you want to to have a break from the city. The owners are very responsive.

Scenic and Rustic

We really enjoyed the mid 1800's style cabin with modern amenities. We even got to see deer. It's was quiet and the morning view from the front porch was wonderful. I highly recommend it.

Cabin Getaway!

Extremely easy to communicate with Joy, I loved this little cabin and the homey feel it gives! Clean and loved the rustic style! Just right outside of town so you have peaceful evenings out on the porch. Everything was great and will definitely be back!!

Texas Stay

We stayed at Joy’s Cabin for several days during our trip back from Arizona to Pennsylvania. A beautiful quiet location in the country yet near to San Antonio and Gruene where we wanted to spend some time. Joy and Sherman were great hosts.

Adorable log cabin

Very adorable place. Had everything we needed except the food. Peaceful area and the stars at night were absolutely amazing! It was about a 20 min drive to go tube the guatalupe river but no big deal at all really.

Sherman and Joy Schlichting Àr vÀrd

Sherman is a carpenter by trade and usually builds using modern conventional methods. But he and Joy especially like saving old homes. So when an old log cabin was offered to them in 1998 they took on the challenge of restoring it. The log walls were moved to the farm where Joy was raised. Sherman and Joy grew up in the community surrounding the area and even though they are not able to make their living from the farm, they wanted to keep the property in the family. Having vacation rentals gives them a way to do that. They opened their first vacation rental in 2000 and have since then completed two more. Joy just retired from 30 years working as a teacher and counselor in the public schools. So now she can devote more time to the vacation rentals. Their latest project is restoring a house built before Abraham Lincoln was president! It has been moved beside Joy's Country Cabin and will hopefully be completed within the next year. It is definitely a labor of love, bringing a house back to life.

Varför vÀrden valde detta boende

Sherman and Joy have a real appreciation for old homes. It saddens them when they are not cared for. They have always been especially attracted to log cabins. They have a charm that is hard to beat. And they are part of our history. The log cabin which is now the living room of Joy's Country Cabin was built by German immigrants who came to the area in the mid 19th century. At that time there were no lumber yards or even lumber mills. There was not a hardware store around where you could buy nails. So the early settlers built with what they found in the area. In the case of this house, it was elm trees. Sherman and Joy have a real appreciation for the work that went into building these early structures and want to see them preserved. Having vacation rentals allows us to save some of these wonderful old homes and share them with others.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

The property where Joy's Country Cabin is located has always been special to Sherman and Joy, especially Joy, since it has been in her family for several generations. The area on the southern edge of the Texas Hill Country is some of the most beautiful and productive in Texas. The soil is black and rich which means the grass, trees and crops grow lush. Cattle and horses graze on the grasslands surrounding the cabin. In the Spring, Texas wildflowers bless the countryside. And at all times of the year, wildlife come to the pond which can be seen from the porch swing. Many, many guests from all over the world come back to Joy's Country Cabin time after time just to be able to sit on that porch.
